Taylor Swift tickets

Can't decide whether to pay £150 each for TS tickets. OH and the kids are very keen as they say it's a once in a lifetime thing. But it's still v expensive even though OH would probably pay. It's quite close to us but it's the queuing, the crowds, standing up for about 4 hours etc. Need to get back to the seller soon so need to decide. I'd be happy to save £520 and see it if it comes to the cinema! But I'd be gutted if they went without me. What should we do?

It's already been at the cinema? I mean, I think it's worth if the kids really want to go.

Stressedoutforever · 21/01/2024 09:54

That's a very suspicious price- big scam warning I think!

Piffpaffpoff · 21/01/2024 09:55

Do it. Once in a lifetime experience that your kids will remember forever. I still remember vividly being taken to something as special as a child.

Where are you buying these from? It's probably a scam

duckpancakes · 21/01/2024 09:58

A couple of things.

Firstly, that is VERY cheap. Is this a legitimate resell?

Secondly I don't think ita fair to decide that NONE of you go just because you don't want to. If DH and the others want to go then the choice if you join them or you don't join them.

TravChief · 21/01/2024 09:58

She’s brilliant in concert both vocally and as an overall concert experience. I would spend the money.

Be careful about the tickets though as resale isn’t yet permitted via Ticketmaster. Viagogo will be fake as she’s only used 2 UK ticket sale agencies both of whom are the only agencies that can do the resales.

GettingStuffed · 21/01/2024 09:59

What is it for.if its a concert I though tickets were as rare as hen's teeth.

regenerate · 21/01/2024 10:00

sort of relevant where the tickets are for and what was official price of them

KenAdams · 21/01/2024 10:05

It's a scam. No one is reselling tickets at that price.

covetingthepreciousthings · 21/01/2024 10:06

If the tickets are on Facebook they'll definitely be a scam. Those prices are VERY cheap and likely a scam!

Funkyslippers · 21/01/2024 10:08

It's a friend of a friend so definitely legitimate

OP posts:
regenerate · 21/01/2024 10:09

where are the seats???

RitzyMcFee · 21/01/2024 10:20

It sounds like you don't want to go. I'd just let them go without me.

SummaLuvin · 21/01/2024 11:44

If it's an acquaintance it sounds like it might be legit and she is selling to you for face value? Bear in mind that ticket transfer won't be available until about a week before so you won't have visibility of the tickets for a good while, this could make some people uneasy depending on how much you trust the person. The tickets were incredibly competitive to get, so I do somewhat question someone going through that, being successful, getting 4, and then now wanting them.

Beyond that, you don't mention the age of your children or what kind of ticket it is, please be aware that the standing tickets are for 14+ (I think but check to be sure).

What should you do? Depends on you really. If you like Taylor and live music then I would say do it! I have seen her live 3 times and she is brilliant, just a phenomenal experience. But it is very expensive (particularly if you’re paying for kids), and for some people they wouldn’t get that much out of it, they find the crowds stressful and the event overstimulating. Given that you were unaware it’s already been and gone in the cinema I wonder if you have enough interest to spend that sort of money.

KindleGirlie · 21/01/2024 12:07

Yes 100% without a doubt. That’s an amazing price, you know the seller is legit.

Motheranddaughter · 21/01/2024 12:11

DD loves her and is going to see her twice with her BFF
Ibought the tickets cost about 1200

MissusKay · 21/01/2024 12:14

Friend of a friend is still scam territory. How well do you know these people? Is there even a way to legitimately transfer tickets at this point?

If be really wary of someone selling at this price point.

Motheranddaughter · 21/01/2024 12:14

I think if you can afford this sort of thing then go for it
I have seen some of my favourite artistes over the years and the memories are priceless
eg David Bowie at Murrayfield, still makes me smile 40 years on

DocOck · 21/01/2024 12:15

For all those saying it's too cheap..I only pay £450 for four standing tickets and that was through the official sale and included all booking fees.

yes

but you understand that resale tickets generally aren’t the same cost as through buying through the official channel

Funkyslippers · 22/01/2024 08:31

UPDATE it was a scam! I asked for her payment details and the account holder was not her. I asked who it was and she said "a colleague. I'm sending you the payment details so you can send payment quickly". I was suspicious so asked if we could meet in person. She said I could pay half now & half after she sent the tickets. I said I would call her. When I did, the call was rejected. Some of her messages contained broken English too and bad punctuation. I think someone hacked her FB so I'm going to report it. Lesson learned!

OP posts:
Testina · 22/01/2024 08:37

I’m glad you updated to warn people!
Too cheap + “friend of a friend” was always going to be a scam!
The thing is, even if you found someone selling on a face value, they’d never need a friend of a friend as a purchaser… they would always have a direct contact ready to bite their hand off for those!

SummaLuvin · 22/01/2024 09:01

As a heads up to other people on the thread, as it stands with tickets purchased on Ticketmaster it is not possible to send someone tickets, this functionality will be available closer to the time I believe. So if someone says they will be sending you tickets after you pay then it's a massive red flag.

This is how the tickets appear in my account, as you can see transfer is not available and the barcodes will not be functional until 3 days before. The "Sell" button will upload them to the general resale platform, not allow to to choose a specific individual. So if I wanted to sell these to a friend the most I could do for now would be to give them my word and forward my booking confirmation to prove that I bought them in the first place. They would have to trust me until I could transfer, which might not be possible until 3 days before! Not sure how it works with AXS, but please be careful everyone - sharks will be trying to profit from peoples FOMO.

I'm not sure why your OH and kids think this is a once in a lifetime thing, as I saw her in concert here in 2015 and 2018 and now this year and I'm sure she will be back in no time. It was really easy to get tickets in the past. I'm not sure why there is such a hype and so many people are clamouring for tickets and paying so much money this time.

Really glad you didn't get scammed though OP. It's shocking how many ticket scammers are out there.

FastAndLast · 22/01/2024 09:32

My friend’s Facebook had been hacked and the scammer is constantly trying to sell tickets, even though he’s reported the account multiple times. It’s posted daily to different sites.
Watch out for the scammers.
