Cordless vacuums. Recommend me yours?

Looking for a cordless vacuum. Would prefer it not to have a wall mounted charger like the Dyson so was looking at the Shark with a small battery. Can anyone tell me if it's any good or if there are others I should look at? Thanks.

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for vacuum cleaner recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best cordless vacuum cleaner page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. I have a Shark cordless IZ202UKT - gets great reviews. It has been utterly shit. The suction went after a few months, it was still under warranty so I reported it and they sent a new head. A year and a half later and the suction has gone again. I've just bought a Miele Cat and Dog because I'm so fucking fed up with the Shark.

It does work ok as a handheld device, but that's it. Would not recommend.

Yep same here! Works for a bit then just stops picking up! Useless! In the market for another cordless that isn't a Shark!

I got the Dyson V8 Advanced and honestly, it's just the best make. I've bought cheaper alternatives to Dyson before but found it to be false economy. I wouldn't go back now.

This is the one I got

You don't actually have to wall-mount it (it charges from the cord), and the runtime is solid compared to Shark's smaller batteries. Its also pretty light and reliable.

We've recently replaced our Shark with a Samsung (Which best buy one) and it's brilliant! The Shark was good initially but after that it was utterly useless for anything but dog hair on the carpet (brilliant for that). This was despite having a second filter and washing/drying/changing the filter weekly. We also experienced the trail of grit on hard floors and frequent clogging. We kept the Shark for carpets and brought our old corded Henry back in from the garage for the hard floors and other bits the Shark didn't manage.

In contrast the Samsung cleans right up to the edge, picks up perfectly on all floor surfaces and is a doddle to empty and clean. The battery does our whole 3 bed bungalow, various rugs, celling corners and soft surfaces and both dehumidifier filters on 1/3-1/2 a battery, using a mix of suction levels (it has 3) the battery has never run out so can't say exactly how long that takes. Hair doesn't get caught around the brush either, which is helpful.

The Shark is being recycled and Henry is returning to his garage job.

I know this is an old post, but which model did you get? And is it still working well?

I have a shark and it’s shite .

bought it as I didn’t like lugging Henry up the stairs

it needs full suction to hoover well , and realistically that only lasts to do one / two rooms .

it blocks constantly, I know I was spoiled with Henry as he sucked up everything.. but I spend half my life with a long screwdriver out unblocking the damn thing .

absolute waste of £250 . Bring back Henry and his stupid little wheels in the air all the time
