If you could have a night out at the cinema, a live music gig or a theatre show, which would you prefer?

I haven’t been on a proper night out for ages and I feel like I’m missing out. I am going to make an effort to do things I really enjoy and miss like the above. For me, I think I enjoy live music the most, followed by a good film at the cinema then a theatre show although I love them all.

Theatre, as long as it isn’t a musical, will always be top for me, then cinema. Musicals would be last, they do nothing for me, I’d rather stay at home and read a book.

Theatre, then live music. Cinerma..only if it's something I REALLY want to see.

Theatre by a long way.

However I've been to a lot of plays over the past couple of months and so right now would love to go to some live music to break it up a bit!

As others have said, we can do a cinema type experience just fine at home. And I had a awful experience when I took my 16 year old to see Oppenheimer and they asked for his ID. I explained that 16 year olds don't generally have/carry ID and there was nothing on the website about this when I booked the tickets. We had waited around town for a couple of hours for the film to start and there was no time at that point to go back home and get his passport. They refunded the ticket but it such an awful, disappointing experience I won't bother in future. At least if they had made it clear when we booked I would have brought his passport with me. So, as I told them, we'll just watch on the big screen at home.

After theatre, cinema because I really enjoy that token. Then live music.

Music

SilverSimca · 20/01/2024 10:36

Theatre
Then it would depend what the music was. If it was a band or a singer I really liked, it would come way above cinema. If it was a random band or one I’ve heard of but don’t know any songs, or just one song, it would come below cinema. Especially if Ihad to stand up. Probably when I was younger it would be music then cinema though.

Theatre, but it would have to be very good.

Live music definitely. It feels like a treat. Stand up second. Cinema I love but have a pass so doesn't feel special iyswm. Have also been to the theatre a couple of times recently and enjoyed it but you have to pick wisely and my finances only tend to stretch to the worst seats

Theatre unless it was a small music venue gig of a couple of hundred. I have a small independent film theatre nearby run by students and volunteers - that's great for seeing foreign language films - I'd never go to a large film theatre to see a mainstream film - far too many disruptive idiots talking, playing on phones, kicking the backs of seats and generally dicking around.
