Which is the warmest room in your house?

Mine is my bedroom. I’m already upstairs watching tv as it’s too cold in the living room to stay in there. I will go down to tidy up the kitchen soon and then back upstairs for warmth!

My spare room/upstairs sitting room. It faces the back which maybe helps. We sit up there rather than downstairs most evenings particularly in winter.

Living room. We finally got more wood today and lit the fire! Even without it's still the warmest room though, but I suspect it's due to body heat.

bobby81 · 15/01/2024 19:01

Living room. Log burner is lit most days in the winter. It feels really cold upstairs in comparison!

Greekrunner · 15/01/2024 19:02

The box room, which is mainly just used for drying laundry, although I have now set up a desk, to avoid having to work in the freezing dining room

SparePartz · 15/01/2024 19:04

The bathroom!

shellyleppard · 15/01/2024 19:04

My bathroom because its the smallest room......my sons bedroom is quite warm too as its at the back of the house and gets the most sunshine

AnnoyingMildew · 15/01/2024 19:05

If were using it, the kitchen (mixture of cooking, tumble dryer, big radiator, and being a new extension so well insulated).

If we're just talking latent heat, the office is probably the warmest. Though our bedroom has a warm floor as there are water pipes just beneath the floor boards, but this effect is tempered by having windows either end of the room.

SquigglePigs · 15/01/2024 19:06

My living room. It has underfloor heating on it's own thermostat so we can keep it cosy warm without massively heating the rest of the house.

Arguably one of the bathrooms might be - it has a towel rail we can't turn down, so it does get pretty warm in there sometimes!

Tootytoot78 · 15/01/2024 19:10

My DH was watching the weather on our local tv channel, and said "Whoa! it's going to be -5 tonight" I replied that it didn't make any difference to us, as our bedroom stays at 17 degrees all night. We have a bedside clock that shows the room temperature, and I wake up at random times in the night and have gotten into the habit of checking it.😑

We live in a modern(ish) bungalow, and I can't say any of the rooms are colder than the others.

EdithStourton · 15/01/2024 19:14

Living room, with the fire lit.

We've just eaten in the kitchen and it was bloody freezing!

NewYear24 · 15/01/2024 19:15

All of downstairs is 19 and upstairs is 20 degrees.

bobomomo · 15/01/2024 19:17

Living room, though whole house is fairly warm as terraced and fairly new

devildeepbluesea · 15/01/2024 19:18

Upstairs - specifically the two occupied bedrooms. I live in the hottest house in the world. I’ve had the heating on for less than an hour tonight and have already had to turn it off cos it’s so hot. It’ll go back on briefly before bed but that’s it.

5thCommandment · 15/01/2024 19:32

House is permanently 19C - leave heating on all year and it auto tops up temp as necessary. Except summer when I might put the AC on if it's particularly hot - helps with sleep! We pay £200/mo for dual gas+elec, 4-bed new build detached.

everygreensock · 15/01/2024 19:33

The living room thanks to a roaring fire

BoobyDazzler · 15/01/2024 19:36

My downstairs loo is positively tropical when the heating is on due to there being no window and a radiator. Then it would be my kitchen as it’s new and well insulated. The rest of the house is an old, draughty 1930’s house which costs a fortune to keep at 18°!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/01/2024 19:37

The downstairs loo - no external walls, and it’s small, so the radiator heats it up quickly.

Unfortunately, not the sitting room. Although, it’s not significantly colder than anywhere else

Bobbybobbins · 15/01/2024 19:39

Nowhere today. I got home at 3.30pm before heating kicks in and it was 11 degrees. Heating been on ever since and still not reached 18 in any rooms! 🥶

dothehokeycokey · 15/01/2024 19:43

My lounge is by far the warmest room as long as everyone keeps the doors shut.

The upstairs of our house always feels cold no matter what we do.

I turned the thermostat down abit earlier as it felt nice and warm and within half an hour the temp had dropped quite a lot.

We have heavy curtains on front and back door as well as fraught excluders on them.

MarchHareInTheRain · 15/01/2024 19:47

Living room. There are two big radiators. The kitchen is 3 times the size and has only one - can't work out why on earth why!

Singingasong · 15/01/2024 20:01

The downstairs in my house is open plan and if I’m cooking in the kitchen and moving around, it’s fine. It’s very chilly if I’m just sitting for the evening.

The main bedroom.

CrushingOnRubies · 15/01/2024 20:03

Might go to bed early to warm up but I don't want to fester in bed watching tv all evening

EasternStandard · 15/01/2024 20:04

One of the dc bedrooms
