I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot. No-one else is up yet & the only sound is the swishy noise the freezer makes & it's humming. Bliss 😊 I can hear dd2 moving about upstairs though so it won't be long until she comes down.

I'll put the washer on soon for work stuff and uniform. Other than that, the house is clean and tidy. I do want to mop the floors later though & clean the arms of the chair and settee with some upholstery foam.

I'm seeing my dad for a couple of hours this morning, then coming back to nip to Lidl with dd1 for a few things. After that I'll settle down for a while to start some Chinese New Year peg people for work, and make some more beaded tassels for my Eras Tour jacket.

Dd2 doesn't want to come to Lidl - she has a small pile she wants to go through in her room, and wants to tidy her new dressing table drawers. She made a start on her homework last night so I'll suggest she finishes that too, then tomorrow's totally free.

I'm not sure what dd1 is doing other than coming to Lidl. She always has homework so if she's doing nothing else I'll suggest she cracks on with that.

Chicken wraps for tea, maybe with wedges and coleslaw 😋 And what's left of my birthday cake for afters.

What about all of you? 🙂

Sat evening here. Done nothing all day except water the garden first thing. 43 degrees Celsius here. Once it was dark, I cleaned the bathroom, a load of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, set the robot vacuum going. Now it’s time for another cold shower and try not to do anything too straining . Banging headache 🤕

Moier · 13/01/2024 12:31

I didn't get to sleep until gone 4am ( pain insomnia). But slept until 9am.
Made a cuppa.. fed the cat. Put dishwasher on ( because l forgot last night). Had my shower and washed and dried hair.
Had airfryer bacon.. mushrooms and microwave scrambled eggs for brunch.
Then just been in my sewing room altering some trousers..I'm going to watch some TV and knit.
Going out for a curry tonight to our favourite restaurant ( Akbars in leeds) with my sister..
Enjoy your weekend everyone.🌺

Afternoon- happy birthday @lucysmam

Dcs were off to their dad's last night so I've had a very lazy morning choosing an outfit for tonight as I have a function to attend. ExDH will be there so best friend in Australia has been assisting me with outfit choices. 🙈
DB came to collect my car this morning to do some work on it before its MOT so I was up early but I've done my nails (very badly) and had a general groom 🤣
My mate is coming round with his baby very shortly so looking forward to some cuddles. Have done a quick tidy and clean in the kitchen so all I have to do tomorrow is do the DCs bedroom.
Burrito mix and rice for dinner before I get a lift with DM down to the pub later. Wish me luck! 🤣😅

Relaxed day tomorrow as I suspect I will be a bit hungover. Will be catching up on Gladiators and the traitors!

MrsFloof · 13/01/2024 12:56

Just had the lovely cleaners in for a one-off clean (well we have them about every 3 months) who do the downstairs plus upstairs bathroom and its amazing as usual though DS shut himself in downstairs bathroom so that's still to do. Floof loves their visits.

Have just got some nice cheeses from the village bakers and will have a ploughman's for lunch.

Been chatting to lovely DD, she is in her room now - her mocks aren't until early Feb but think she might be working towards them now. DS is gaming. Floof is very cuddly.

Not sure what will do this afternoon, went swimming yesterday night so that's not until tomorrow so may have a lazy afternoon or try and put up the new cabinet we bought.

piscofrisco · 13/01/2024 12:57

Good luck. Never easy being in a place your ex is-especially at first-but it does get better I promise.

Whattheduck · 13/01/2024 12:57

Up early as workmen here putting a new flat roof on the garage as we had a leak
Dh took the dog for a walk whilst I popped to Sainsburys (1st time out since New Year as I had the flu followed by a chest infection).
Just hoovered downstairs and unloaded the dishwasher.
Dd is tidying her room she has work from 6 til 11 so will do her burger chips and salad before she goes Dh is making a curry and I’m going to have mushrooms on toast as don’t have much of an appetite at the minute.
No plans for later just spend time with Dh as he’s away with work from next week for 6 weeks.

piscofrisco · 13/01/2024 12:58

Jealous of your cleaners @MrsFloof

Echobelly · 13/01/2024 13:03

15 year old has taken themselves out all day - we are taking DS (12) to British Library to see an exhibition on fantasy books that my dad recommended; good timing as DS has just finished The Hobbit. I wanted to get him out of the house as he was home pretty much all of last weekend.

Then it turns out a friend of mine is unexpectedly in town (he lives about 80 miles away) for his birthday tonight, so we'll meet him for a drink. Times like this I am very glad we don't need babysitters anymore!

LaPalmaLlama · 13/01/2024 13:04

I did Parkrun this morning while the teenagers slept on. Got back and made bacon and avo baps for brunch and did 2 loads of washing. Drove dc to climbing club and now having a cofffee and a scroll. Then need to drive ds to cricket training. Dd and I will go and buy some bday presents for a few people. Then home and lazy evening. Someone just told me gladiators is back on tv so if that’s true I’ll definitely be watching that.

someone has to shovel 3 tonnes of gravel tomorrow- currently in negotiation with teens over acceptable hourly rate 🤣

Chelsea26 · 13/01/2024 13:10

Got up to take DS1 to football training, popped to screw fix and Sainsbury’s and then picked him up again.

Back home I’ve made Mediterranean veg and harissa couscous, Waldorf slaw and Caesar salad for later. DSD is doing her DofE so has to cook, she’s making a chicken and chorizo one pot for lunch. DP is still doing the garden room but the end is in sight now, he’s done so well with no experience whatsoever!

DSD and DSS are off with their mum after lunch for a reunion with her friends and DP and I and DS1&2 are off to my mums for her 70th birthday celebrations.

Excited to give her her gift, my siblings and I have arranged a weekend away with all 19 of us (kids, partners, grandkids) and her two closest friends and their husbands in a large country house. She’ll be delighted…

riotlady · 13/01/2024 13:44

afternoon! :) dropped DD at performing arts this morning and did my big shop at Lidl, posted a parcel, then picked her up and went to the library (where I miiiight have gently bumped my car into someone else’s, fortunately no damage!)

Came home and we had bacon, eggs, beans and hash browns for brunch. DD is currently in the garden bird watching with her dad’s binoculars (mostly seagulls and crows) and I’m trying to get DS to take a nap longer than 20 mins so he’s not a cranky butt this afternoon.

Planning on making some flapjacks with DD this afternoon then me and the kids are off to my mums for Gladiators and pizza while DH goes to work.

piscofrisco · 13/01/2024 13:54

Love how exited everyone is for Gladiators! I went to see it live when I was a kid. I'm hoping the DSS's like it.

Crunchymum · 13/01/2024 14:04

Happy belated birthday @lucysmam (I assume you've already had your birthday if you're eating left-over cake)

I have two January children, who aren't twins, so it will be birthday season for us soon.

Today was back to swimming lessons, then popped into bakery for fresh bread and rolls and then dropped our books back at the library / picked a new book each. I then let kids have a run about the park as I think tomorrow is wet. All this was before Midday!!

Just done lunch, cleared all the dry washing off the airer and am about to unload washing machine.

DP is on his way back from work and I'm tempted to have an afternoon nap. I'm fighting a cold and whilst I feel alright I really fancy taking a cuppa up to bed and getting cosy. Although I won't sleep later if I do that!!

Dinner will be something easy like spicy chicken breast, wedges and salad. Less spicy version for the kids.

Still haven't started Reacher yet so we'll watch an episode or 2 after kids go to bed.

MrsFloof · 13/01/2024 14:05

Thanks Pico We are very lucky to have the cleaners every few months, 2 lovely ladies who come and work their magic.

Eggsley · 13/01/2024 14:14

We were up early this morning as DH had a hospital appointment at 8.15. He was in and out in about 15 mins which was great. He went off to his team's football match and I took DS2 to his football. Nipped to Tesco to pick up some bits for lunch. DS1 surfaced from his room to eat and has disappeared back there now. DS2 is playing on the Switch.

About to put a load of washing on, then DH and I are going to take down the outside Christmas lights while it's relatively dry. Then need to get some cleaning done this afternoon. Chilli for dinner and we want to watch gladiators here too - hoping the DC will like it!

@lucysmam I love your peg people, you're so clever to be able to do them!

Ozgirl75 · 13/01/2024 15:19

WagWoofWalkMeeoow · 13/01/2024 10:38

@Ozgirl75

i enjoyed HK too. The weirdest thing for me though was being in a sea of people my height. I'm short so usually I'm faced with bodies, not faces, very discombobulating!!

Yes! I noticed how my husband was head and shoulders above everyone else and he’s not mad tall, only about 5.11. Nice - I’m also not very tall and lots of people were my height. Well 6bn people can’t be wrong - maybe this is the best height to be…

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 13/01/2024 16:15

Good afternoon everyone and belated happy birthday @lucysmam .
Not a lot has happened here, DH took the dog for a walk this morning while I did some art work for the online classes I’m doing.
I cooked lunch and have spent the last 3 hours knitting (and now unpicking) 10 rows of a pair of socks using two colours 🤬 It’s not going well needless to say!
Dh is watching Extreme Rescue on iPlayer and doing my head in giving a running commentary and criticising everyone, I might have to go and sit upstairs before I lose it 🙄

lucysmam · 13/01/2024 16:55

Oh dear @JenniferJupiterVenusandMars my big crochet project is currently in time out after I did 2 rows then realised my count was way off where it should have been 🙈

I'm just about to pack up for today - I only got as far as painting the bases & making a start on a couple of things for dd1's birthday cake, but it's a start, & I'll do more tomorrow. Going to sit down and find a cheap toy pick up truck tonight 🤔 not sure where yet.

Good evening @lucysmam . Bit late today! We woke up in a hotel this morning, having travelled upcountry for a family Christening today.
Big breakfast, short journey to the church, lovely ceremony, brilliant meet up with everyone afterwards with a very good buffet lunch, then back to the hotel for a badly needed nap. I still get very tired (having treatment for cancer) and, being autistic, I find social situations exhausting anyway.
We will be going to eat in the hotel restaurant shortly and then we MAY even sit in the bar and have a game of scrabble. It's non-stop excitement round here!

FortunataTagnips · 13/01/2024 17:48

I hope your husband’s home safely soon, @Simonjt .
