Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot. No-one else is up yet & the only sound is the swishy noise the freezer makes & it's humming. Bliss 😊 I can hear dd2 moving about upstairs though so it won't be long until she comes down.

I'll put the washer on soon for work stuff and uniform. Other than that, the house is clean and tidy. I do want to mop the floors later though & clean the arms of the chair and settee with some upholstery foam.

I'm seeing my dad for a couple of hours this morning, then coming back to nip to Lidl with dd1 for a few things. After that I'll settle down for a while to start some Chinese New Year peg people for work, and make some more beaded tassels for my Eras Tour jacket.

Dd2 doesn't want to come to Lidl - she has a small pile she wants to go through in her room, and wants to tidy her new dressing table drawers. She made a start on her homework last night so I'll suggest she finishes that too, then tomorrow's totally free.

I'm not sure what dd1 is doing other than coming to Lidl. She always has homework so if she's doing nothing else I'll suggest she cracks on with that.

Chicken wraps for tea, maybe with wedges and coleslaw 😋 And what's left of my birthday cake for afters.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all and a belated happy birthday @lucysmam.

We had pancakes for breakfast then DP’s taken DD to her gymnastics class while I do DS’s homework.

They’re off to the park this afternoon, not sure what DS and I will do - maybe a cycle, maybe tennis. Fajitas for tea and we might watch Gladiators as well - they love Ninja Warrior so will probably like this too.

Have a good day all!

popandchoc · 13/01/2024 10:21

Been to swimming lesson with dd2 , she is now in tap lesson.

Home after this then pop out to fabric shop to get fabric for Dd1 for textiles .

They are off to their dads later so I plan to wash my car and take a walk to shop to pick up vinted parcel . Then going to have a night watching gladiators and other tv .

violetcuriosity · 13/01/2024 10:25

Baby got us up at 6:30 but actually stayed still for an hour watching coco melon in our bed so we dozed and drank tea 😁. Home baked pain au chocolat for breakfast while she's down for the first nap. DP is playing football this afternoon so I'll take the baby out for a park walk and a coffee. My parents are coming round early evening to babysit while we go out for an Italian for my birthday. Have a good day all.

mondaytosunday · 13/01/2024 10:27

Well I slept in after a fitful night and have just finished breakfast (egg, smoked salmon, tomatoes and tea). My son has texted his usual 'on the way to the gym then work' as he lives away and it's a routine we now have. My teenage daughter is still in slumberland. About to get dogs walked and pick up some yarn I ordered from Hobbycraft for a project I'm making for my son (so annoying to run out when three quarters done)! Then if my daughter surfaces I promised her a hot chocolate and pastry at a local café. Then afternoon crocheting hopefully finish that then might try and convince daughter her turn to cook dinner! Cosy night in as usual with DD watching some serial.
I will of course ignore the housework that needs doing - I've already got the dishwasher going and have loaded up the laundry and that's enough for today!

SouthEastCoast · 13/01/2024 10:29

Heeeey, I’ve had a few coffees , hoovered the living room and stairs (well 2 of the stairs anyway, the most visible ones), finally put away the Xmas tree lights , put a wash on and the eternal dishwasher. I feel quite achieved. Had to be woken by my alarm though before 8 so I could park my car in a space (the downside of living in town centre) or else I might still be sleeping.

Ozgirl75 · 13/01/2024 09:51

I’m in Hong Kong for the day, so we took a trip up to the Peak on the tram, walked through the park, caught the Star Ferry and ate some delicious dumplings for lunch. Just planning dinner. Such a great city, I’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable day and it’s lovely walking around in a t shirt and no coat.

@Ozgirl75

i enjoyed HK too. The weirdest thing for me though was being in a sea of people my height. I'm short so usually I'm faced with bodies, not faces, very discombobulating!!

Therealjudgejudy · 13/01/2024 10:41

Morning all! Partner brought me coffee and toast in bed this morning, then we ordered the TV for our new house.

One load of washing already done. Heading into town for the afternoon to do.some browsing and I want to buy some new skincare. Then fish, chips and mushy peas with lots of salt and vinegar for dinner

WagWoofWalkMeeoow · 13/01/2024 10:50

@lucysmam happy belated birthday!! 🎂 🎉 🥂🍾😘

love your 'peg' dolls!!

where's Simon? Unusual for him not to be here!

I've been for a run (only 10km), cleaned the bathrooms, put 2 loads of laundry on & washed the car.

OR

I'm still in bed, had a cup of tea & MN.

you choose!!

A million things that need doing, but we'll see. I will go for a walk, need to find a new body of water will boats.. not easy here inland. Will just go to the sailing club (again) if no luck. It's cold, grey & uninspiring here today. I was hoping for a little sun breaking through, but that is not going to happen.

suffering badly from fatigue, so anything I get done is a bonus.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 13/01/2024 10:57

Woke up late again. Just had my coffee and croissants. I’m taking the dog out in a little while. Probably the beach so he can have a good long run.

DH is working 1-Midnight. DS is working at some point.

I have a tonne of chores to do this afternoon so I will get some music on and crack on.

DD is studying today.

She and I are having a Korean night tonight. We’re cooking Bibimbap, Kimchi pancakes and some other bits then we’ll be watching a Korean reality web series.

FlorencenotRatchet · 13/01/2024 11:00

Morning @lucysmam and all.
Loving the peg dolls.
I've been to Parkrun, just about to have a quick laze in the bath. This afternoon I'm off to see my dad who's recovering from a bad fall so will get him some shopping then home for a lazy evening on the sofa.

Giggorata · 13/01/2024 11:01

Good morning lucysmam and all,
It's a lovely sunny day here so I have got a duvet washed and on the line and done some hoovering.
DH is going down to the land with a chainsaw, as we are running out of cut wood.
I am sanding down a bookcase, ready to be painted. I have a useless bedroom that you sometimes get in old houses; you have to walk through it to get to the loo, so I am using it as a place for extra bookshelves and a reading nook.
I have also replaced the light shade and put up some pictures.
So I feel fully justified, having another an afternoon and evening of sloth, watching the Snooker.
I’ve been off my food since a stomach upset (not lost any weight though!) and haven't really thought about dinner. DH will get something out of the freezer tonight and boil a ton of potatoes, no doubt, to use some of them tomorrow.

mamaduckbone · 13/01/2024 11:12

Good morning @lucysmam and all.
It's a beautiful sunny morning here so my regular run was more enjoyable than it has been recently. We went on a different route along the canal this morning and saw lots of birds including a sweet little wren, and a guy paddleboarding, which looked great, except I would look considerably less serene!

Back for coffee and a bloody amazing pastry that Dh picked up from the bakery. NYR Is to treat ourselves to a loaf of posh sourdough at the weekend (that's my kind of resolution) but if he buys pastries every week that's not going to help with the healthy eating attempts.

Later today all the menfolk of the house are going to rugby so I'm making the most of an empty house and catching up on school work and life admin.
Dh is trying a new recipe tonight that he saw on a video by one of his favourite chefs, so I'm looking forward to that - Italian ribolitta. Stove lit, chilled evening. No wine - not really doing dry January but I'm just not fancying it at the moment and it was nice to wake up this morning with more energy.

mamaduckbone · 13/01/2024 11:17

Your peg people are lovely @lucysmam - the There and Back Again boy and penguin are super cute!

mamaduckbone · 13/01/2024 11:18

That should be Lost and Found!

WhatTheHeckyPeck · 13/01/2024 11:37

Morning. Blitzed the house this morning and now waiting for DD and her DP to arrive for the weekend. We haven't been together since August due to distance and work schedules. We are going to unwrap Christmas/birthday presents have a Chinese takeaway, drink wine and talk about their upcoming wedding. I'm super-excited. Face-time is all very well but a huge "squish-the-life-out-of-me" bear hug is better.

OldTinHat · 13/01/2024 11:39

@lucysmam OMG they are absolutely amazing!! I had a vision of what we did at school with a dolly peg, namely glueing a skirt round the bottom and drawing eyes and a face on the top and sticking a bit of wool on for hair 😆 Yours are completely fabulous and a million miles away from what I imagined. If you're not already, you should definitely sell these. I'd buy them all! ❤️

I thought exactly the same as you. They are so different from how I thought but look amazing @lucysmam

lucysmam · 13/01/2024 11:47

Thanks for the compliments. @mamaduckbone that penguin almost ended up with the Inuit people...took me ages to realise why their penguins weren't matching sizes 🙈 I did Pig the Pug and Trevor over Christmas too.

@OldTinHat no, I just do them for work, and the odd request. Dd2's birthday cake had mini Adele from week 23 (I think) of her Vegas residency as a surprise and dd1's will have a mini Taylor Swift this year. I think if I was doing them to sell it might take the enjoyment out of them - being on someone else's timetable iyswim - & I quite like spending a couple of hours at them every now and again. I don't want it to become chore.

We've had a chilled morning at home, DS has watched Harry Potter while I do some nesting before baby arrives!
We're going to pop out for some lunch somewhere then go for a walk, DS will probably bring his bike.

Tonight we're going to make sushi for dinner then watch American horror story when Ds is in bed.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 13/01/2024 11:52

KissTheRains · 13/01/2024 09:47

Finished watching the new Bluey episodes on Disney+
I'll get the dog walked for an hour or two and then head to town for a coffee and a bit of cake.
DD is off to her friends so it'll just be me. I may take a book.. or, oooo there's an idea, I could go to the library for a quiet few hours reading something. 😁

There's new bluey episodes?!

KissTheRains · 13/01/2024 11:59

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 13/01/2024 11:52

There's new bluey episodes?!

Yep they added 10 new ones.
I watched a few last night and the rest this morning. I love it.
DD doesn't like it any more but I watch them.

Simonjt · 13/01/2024 12:07

I’m here!

Morning all, I’ve just survived my first week in my new job, it was a bit daunting as I’ve been out of work since August, plus working in another country so new customs etc to get used to, but it went okay and my brain isn’t too knackered.

My husband is still in hospital, they had hoped to get away with antibiotics for his appendix, but that didn’t work so he had his op yesterday, so we might go and see him later on today. We think he’ll be allowed home on Tuesday, they seem to keep you in hospital for longer here.

We’re definitely headed to the scooter park in a bit, I promised we would, which I’m now regretting, I’m hoping I can do the standard sit at a table with a coffee and occasionally wave and smile.

OldTinHat · 13/01/2024 12:12

@lucysmam totally get what you're saying. From a hobby to expectations and deadlines is not fun.

Love the cake! And I forgot you crochet too. Also love that critter! I knit but have forgotten how to crochet which is very annoying.

legosnowqueen · 13/01/2024 12:21

Hello everyone, I adore your peg people @lucysmam - so talented!

A glorious start to the day with a dog walk on the edge of the moors round the tarn. It's a beautiful day here although freezing.

Got home to discover poor DDog had been unwell in the night though (I will spare you the details) so cleaning that up took the shine off a little. He'd had a tummy upset on Wednesday & Thursday but seemed okay yesterday but clearly not.

Both DS & I are working today a bit to catch up after a busy week. DS will be studying for his mock A levels, although has only just surfaced. He's tired after a full on week then didn't get home from his part time restaurant job until midnight. Think he's annoyed he slept in, but he really needed the sleep.

Done 2 lots of washing & mopped the kitchen floor.

We are having an M & S venision daube that was half price after Christmas with mash & veg tonight, & will share a nice bottle of red in front of the wood burner.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 13/01/2024 12:22

Sat in bed & read this morning, as dc & DH wanted a lazy morning.

Just had some Lea & Perrins cheese on toast while dc had lunch. Now off out to the post office & a small food shop.

Get back do some housework while dc play and read some more of my book. Nice easy Saturday!
