We eat loads as don't eat beef. Just use it in the same way. Specifically though it makes lovely meatballs with fennel seeds in. Stir fry with peanut butter and sweet chilli sauce and teaspoon of marmite, served with noodles.

Pork and apple burgers. Really simple and quick. Just grate an apple in the pork mince mix and form the burger shapes.

There's a pinch of nom recipe called dirty macaroni or something like that which uses pork mince and is nice too

Put the mince in a bowl with one finely chopped onion, a jar of cranberry or apple sauce, bread crumbs or panko, salt, pepper, thyme and marjoram. Squish up together.
Take one sheet of ready rolled puff pastry and slice it along the middle longways to leave two long rectangles.
Spread a line of the mince mixture along the length of each.
Brush egg along one long side of each rectangle and roll the pastry to make sausage roll shape.
Cut into twelve (or however many you like for each if the two rolls.
Slice into the top of the pastry on each sausage roll.
Egg wash the rolls.
Put on a sheet of baking paper on a tray.
Bake at 190 degrees for 25 minutes or until cooked.

I do bolognese with it and add lardons to the first fry of onion, carrot and celery. My boys prefer it to beef

I made Jamie Oliver's stuffing to have with Christmas dinner and it was amazing, probably the best bit of Christmas Day!

(The recipe states diced pork but I had mine minced by the butcher and it worked fine).

I also made a Thai pork dish a few years ago that was delicious but I've looked for the recipe recently to make it again but sadly can't find it. There are similar ones out there though.

mindutopia · 06/01/2024 17:54

Swedish meatballs (I use beef and pork mince, but you could use just pork probably).

Asian style meatballs

Lasagna, again with a bit of beef mince too, if you have it

PickAChew · 06/01/2024 17:57

It's much quicker cooking than beef mince - doesn't take hours to become tender.

I sometimes make a spag bol with it or, sometimes, fry off the whole pack, have some in a stir fry one day and some in something else like with pasta or a quick Thai style green curry, another day.

This is amazing. Known as Stinky Pork here as the fish sauce reeks!

My favourite soup ever.

Turn the pork mince into meatballs using egg and breadcrumbs and dried herbs. About the size of the meatballs you buy at the supermarket.

Make a soup using decent chicken stock, onion, carrots, celery. Brown pork meatballs then add to soup and simmer. Add cooked rice. Then serve with a solid squirt of lemon juice and loads of chopped fresh dill.

I am not a person who can eat the same meal too many times in a row and when I made this I ate it for 3 dinners and then leftovers for breakfast. I see this soup in my dreams.

Walkingwashingmachine · 06/01/2024 18:01

I always add pork mince to beef mince on a 1/3 basis for burgers, meatballs..anything like that. It means you can use lean beef mince and it won't dry out too much.

zigzag716746zigzag · 06/01/2024 18:02

We use it instead of beef. Bolognaise, tacos, shepherds pie, meatballs, burgers.

WillBeatJanuaryBlues · 06/01/2024 18:02

Some fabulous ideas here thank you. The sausage rolls sound amazing!
I've never heard of gouxhang paste.

Thai Peanutty Pork is really nice! It's 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 3 of Thai red curry paste and 3 of peanut butter to 750g pork mince. We usually fry the pork with onion and peppers before adding the sauces. Serve with noodles. The original recipe gets you to put some water in too but we quite like the thicker sauce.

CornishPorsche · 06/01/2024 20:04

I make meatballs to serve with rice. Add soy sauce, garlic and ginger to the mince. Mix up and make into meatballs. Fry off.

Mix soy, sesame oil, olive oil and a bit of brown sugar, add lime juice. Mix really well. About 15-20ml of each wet ingredient.

Dry fry green beans in a frying pan, sprinkle of salt or soy sauce. Brown off a bit and plate up.

Serve with sticky rice. Pour the soy / sesame mix over the plate.

Lush.
