Just that really? I think it's OK for DS 9 to, first time.

Thoughts?

We used to go to family parties from babyhood. There'd be kids napping on sofas/beds/piles of coats etc as required then over one was woken for the countdown. It's one night in the year.

Unfortunately we don't have any parties to go to, plus my kids hate parties anyway, so we don't mark it.

Mine have always stayed up too. We've always been at friends or had people over. When they were tiny we took a travel cot but from being 3 or 4 they would usually stay up or crash in a sofa.
It's my kids absolute favourite night of the year!

When they wanted to, 4 or 5 though they had napped on the sofa at that age, I'm not a stickler for rules

When I was wee my mum & dad would put us to bed then wake us up before midnight with a buffet and the Hogmanay tv on waiting for the bells. I've let my daughter stay up since she was like 4/5 if she's fell asleep then I've put her to bed. She's 10 now. However it's a family thing like the kids in my family have always stayed up late at new year. Xx

Mine stayed up for the first time last night, youngest is 7. But we had no plans for today, and not back to school til Thursday, so they lay in this morning.

We've always gone to a party so DS has stayed up every single year.
He's 9 now and him and the other kids have their own traditions for NYE which they look forward to.
