Lip balm recommendations please!

My lips are a mess! So dry & cracked, I've been ill lately, had a blocked nose so a lot of breathing through my mouth and it's completely dried them out. Around the edge of my top lip it also stings like mad, just put some face cream on and it really stung 😩

I need a miracle lip balm that will hydrate and soothe them. I've got Nivea and Carmex to hand but not sure if those will cut it and don't want to make it worse.

Help!

Weleda Skin Food or Blistex in a little blue pot

greenpjs · 28/12/2023 20:59

@Dearover Oooh I've got Weleda, do you mean the one in the green tube or do they do a lip balm as well?

LaNeige sleep balm... personally I love the chocolate one.

Carmex is amazing.

AnxiousPangolin · 28/12/2023 21:03

Carmex

marigoldie · 28/12/2023 21:03

You need a good repair salve. Rose and co apothecary lip balm. Around £3.00 a tin from Amazon. Lansinoh lip balm isn't bad either.

greenpjs · 28/12/2023 21:03

I've tried Carmex but it just stings and doesn't really work that well for me

Elizabeth Arden 8hr lip repair cream, in a small glass pot. It's not cheap but lasts forever. I walk all weathers with my 2 dogs and it's the only thing that stops my lips from cracking in bad weather.

motherofkevinnotperry · 28/12/2023 21:06

If your mouth is that sore then go with blistex cream. Carmex is great but it sounds like you need a bit more of a medicated one to get it under control.

AnImaginaryCat · 28/12/2023 21:06

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour.

Only thing that sorted out my DS's lips when he was on Roaccutane and his lips looked like he'd been in the desert for weeks.

I use it all the time now for myself.

Magpiecomplex · 28/12/2023 21:08

Lush Lip Service is a good one.

Donutsforbreakfast · 28/12/2023 21:08

I second O'keefes (in the orange tube). It's got urea in it which the others don't have...it's a miracle ingredient, will sort your lips out in no time.

motherofkevinnotperry · 28/12/2023 21:08

Dr Lipp is pretty good as well. I've tried many expensive ones like Clarins, Clinique etc and they're not worth the money in my opinion.

headcheffer · 28/12/2023 21:08

Laniege. So so good.

EatingSleeping · 28/12/2023 21:09

Absolutely second (or the third) 8 hour cream. It will absolutely fix them. Longer term I really like the o'keefes

EmbraWumman · 28/12/2023 21:10

I only ever sort my lips with Blistex when they get to that point. It's also nicely nippy!

DoThePropeller · 28/12/2023 21:12

Laniege night mask for lips and eight hour cream in the day

ClaireEclair · 28/12/2023 21:14

The blue Superdrug lip balm is the best I’ve ever tried but I can never find it these days. Sugar do amazing lip balms but are pricy. Clinique repairwear is my holy grail but it’s so expensive.

Cheeesus · 28/12/2023 21:15

Second O’Keeffe’s.

Another vote for Elizabeth Arden eight hour lip balm.

NUXE Reve de Miel. This is my go to for intense. I have also got the Rose version but the honey is more soothing.

And I was gifted L'occitane Rose lip balm for a Christmas and it's really good. I'm impressed. It has a slight pink tint which I think is lovely. £10

Dr Dan's Cortibalm!!!

Genuinely the only thing that has ever solved my dry lips. It's from the US so a bit more expensive than a "standard" lip balm but it lasts ages and because it has actual ingredients like 1% hydrocortisone it really does work!

I found it after extensive searching and finally got recommended it by a friend who had been in the US in the winter and bought some while there.

I ordered some this very evening on eBay for £13.
