I need some ideas but have probably left it too late.
Kids are late teens and early 20s and all free to join us.

Going to bed early with a delicious hot chocolate, a good book, a comfortable pile of pillows and a tin of luxury biscuits. Probably the dog will join me too.
well past the staying up until midnight let alone going gallivanting!

Maddy70 · 28/12/2023 05:24

We are having some friends around for drinks and nibbles .. We live in Spain so at midnight we eat 12 grapes with the bongs of the clock , watch the fireworks on the beach then off to a drag show at 1

MinnieMountain · 28/12/2023 06:00

Sunday buffet at a Thai restaurant. Then board games and food yet to be decided. We’ve got a nice bottle of champagne. A friend will come round for a few hours.

MIL has a games party every year.

Drinks party in London. Lunch the following day with children’s friends.

CeriB82 · 28/12/2023 07:09

Kids 22 & 15. Chinese, board game and bed before 10 as usual for me.

OldTinHat · 28/12/2023 07:33

Nothing as usual but going to a lunch with friends on NYD.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 28/12/2023 08:04

Dh is working, so I’m alone. Guests all go Friday. Going to catch up on Christmas specials, lie on sofa with dogs, go to bed early.

baubl · 28/12/2023 08:20

It's just us two and the dog and we can't be arsed with a busy pub late at night.

I suspect our plan will involve a dog walk, nice pub lunch somewhere then maybe cheese/wine/card games in the evening until we fall asleep.

Gardeningtime · 28/12/2023 08:24

Long weekend with friends, about ten of us. Looking forward to it. I find nye a wash out if it’s just us, end up trying to stay up till the bells then rushing off to bed as quickly as seen as decent after.

lesdeluges · 28/12/2023 08:46

NYE to me is over hyped and over rated. It's as if someone in the food/drinks/restaurant trade said "ok we need to keep em spending now Christmas is over!" Forced jollity is not my bag either, so it's quite low key. Out for eats about 5.30 as I don't want to cook GrinHome by 7.30 ish and into the PJs.

1st Jan is no different to any other day anyway.

YoureRockingTheBoat · 28/12/2023 08:50

Booked a late-ish seat at the bar in a good local restaurant. Kind of hoping I’ll get an invite for the bells, but if not I’ll probably try for a walk home the long way round to see the fireworks, because I love fireworks even though i know we’re not meant to.

SideshowAuntSallyx · 28/12/2023 08:51

Nothing, not bothered by New Year's eve. Even when I was a party animal I went out New Year's Day instead (except when I was a mega party animal and did both).

This year I am booked on a gym class first thing New Years Day so I'll be going to bed at my usual time.

Topseyt123 · 28/12/2023 09:02

We'll be doing bugger all and that's the way we like it.

It will be just DH and I with perhaps one of our three DDs and her boyfriend. None of us like crowded, rowdy places so we'll be at home with just a quiet drink at midnight (if I haven't dozed off on the sofa by then).

Doggymummar · 28/12/2023 09:03

Movie night, probably a kfc

Mydogisagentleman · 28/12/2023 09:11

Working until 9, then starting at 07.00 on NYD.
I imagine that I'll be in bed by 10

2chocolateoranges · 28/12/2023 09:15

For the first time in a long time we are going out,

Eldest is off to a party, youngest is working so dh and I are going to a local pub for a Hogmanay party, thankfully it’s only a short walk home at 2am.

Glittering1 · 28/12/2023 09:19

Dh is on the night shift on NYE and NYE night. Myself and three teens will watch movies, get a takeaway and play board games.

Kim82 · 28/12/2023 09:29

Absolutely nothing which is just the way I like it.

Dh will go into town with his friends (not my idea of fun), dd19 is working 3pm - 2.30am, dd16 is going to a party at her friend’s and staying over and I will stay at home with dd9, get a takeaway and watch a film or two with her and carry on eating the Christmas chocolate.

She can stay awake til midnight if she can manage it but I’ll go to bed whenever she does and have a sleepover in her room.

nokidshere · 28/12/2023 09:31

@Tonight1 thank you

PermanentTemporary · 28/12/2023 09:32

We've unexpectedly got a nice gathering - brother and wife, ds and girlfriend, me and dp. Hope it works OK. Bubbly and something luxurious but fresh to eat, maybe salmon and lots of veggies.

AuntieMarys · 28/12/2023 09:35

We will go for a few drinks in the afternoon, come back to homemade lasagne about 5. Watch Slow Horses and bed by 9 🤣

daffodilandtulip · 28/12/2023 09:36

Haven't been out on NYE since having kids and they are teens now. I never really enjoyed the busyness and forced excitement of it. It's just a day turning over.

We play games and have buffet food, and just about scrape through til midnight to see the fireworks but that's it.

Hijinks75 · 28/12/2023 09:37

Probably in bed long before 12, haven’t bothered stopping up for years

slavetothekittens · 28/12/2023 09:44

A takeaway and drinks with adult daughter, play a few games maybe. I'll stay awake to see the New Year in but that's more to make sure the pets aren't freaked out by fireworks going off.

StillWantingADog · 28/12/2023 09:46

Going to the cinema for pizza and Wonka with dh and 2 dc. Gets us out of the house but we’re not NYE people at all.
