Thinking of moving from Sainsbury's & going elsewhere possibly Asda as I like the Rewards app.

Who do you use??Do you recommend any?

StoorieHoose · 27/12/2023 18:10

Asda were terrible for me. Regularly lots of missing items - don't think I ever got a correct fulfilled order

I use Tesco every week and very rarely have any issues

mamabear715 · 27/12/2023 18:14

Depends where you live. Most are decent where I live, my sister is in a neighbouring county & all are awful. Probably better asking on a local FB page.

purpleme12 · 27/12/2023 18:15

Asda.
Substitutes fairly rare. And when you do have them they're pretty ok.
And the rewards app

SquigglePigs · 27/12/2023 18:22

We've been using Tesco for about 10 years and (apart from the supply problems everyone had during covid) have no problems with them and minimal (usually sensible) subs.

Waitrose are excellent too but obviously a little more expensive for some things.

FizzyStream · 27/12/2023 18:39

I alternate between Morrisons and Ocado. Have done for about 8 years and have had very few problems and never any weird substitutions. Morrisons more card sometimes has good offers and Ocado do a Tesco price match where they send a voucher for the difference off your next shop.

DilemmaDelilah · 27/12/2023 18:41

I use Morrisons. It's not any worse than Sainsburys, who I used to use, and it has the benefit of free delivery for NHS staff.

Mumaway · 27/12/2023 18:42

Ocado, because it comes from a warehouse not a supermarket so stock more reliable so less substitution etc.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 27/12/2023 18:43

Asda works for me but I seem to get the same things substituted and then I find them in the store

Morrisons came up trumps here. No substitutions, delivery on time and always pleasant drivers.

I gave up on Asda months ago - there were substitutions every week, sometimes three or more. I came to the conclusion that perhaps they are late payers with their suppliers. In fairness, the Asda subs. were not bad, but still not exactly what was ordered - and it was the same story nearly every week.

Redglitter · 27/12/2023 18:48

I used to use Asda but as pp said, the substitutes got out of hand. My Mum used to get Morrisons & they were even worse

I've been using Tesco now for years. I get very few substitutes and they're usually good ones. And you get the club card points & special offers online too

SideshowAuntSallyx · 27/12/2023 18:49

Sainsburys or Waitrose, have occasionally had substitutions but always things I don't mind (cat food or jam, for example). Last Sainsburys order, though, only sent the one box of cat food instead of the 3 I asked for and didn't substitute the two they didn't have.

DriftingDora · 27/12/2023 18:49

Why in the name of Mick it quoted the OP's original post, when I simply went to 'add message' I don't know.

Trez1510 · 27/12/2023 19:00

I second asking locally.

Have a look at the Christmas Deliveries thread.

The only consistent appears to have been Asda failing miserably, and that appears to be being confirmed on this thread so far.

Everyone else appears to be variable depending on where you live.

TheSnowyOwl · 27/12/2023 19:02

We use Ocado, Waitrose or Sainsbury’s depending upon what we want. If you get a morning delivery slot, you seem to be less likely to have substitutions.

Almostwelsh · 27/12/2023 19:12

Iceland. Free next day delivery for orders over 40 pounds. I ordered on 23rd for delivery xmas eve and got everything I ordered, no substitutions. Although I didn't order turkey, admittedly.

DoAWheelie · 27/12/2023 19:16

I use Just Eat instead of a supermarkets own website. In my area you can choose from co-op, Asda, Sainsbury's, Iceland, and some local chains/corner shops.

It turns up an hour after you order it rather than waiting for a slot booked days in advance so is much more flexible. I can decide I want xyz for dinner in the middle of the day and have it arrive fresh and ready to cook.

We tend to order twice a week getting 3-4 days worth of stuff and rotate around the different shops picking up things we like that are exclusive to each one.

Decafflatteplease · 27/12/2023 19:18

We get ocado every week and have done for years. Have tried other ones eg on self catering holidays and ocado is so much better.

I have an anytime pass so can get delivery anytime, if any problems eg squashed products they refund asap. They provide bags which is great as so much more organised and each one is labelled eg fridge, cupboard.

They price match on alot of items to Tesco now and send you a coupon if they are more expensive, I would say I get one once a month, normally only around 50p but Christmas shop was £5!

The app is really easy to use too and can add things easily as you think of them

I also do a top-up shop at Asda one a week (approx £50) so get the points and also do a one a month/6 weeks Aldi shop for cupboard items eg cereal, snacks, toilet paper.

OddBoots · 27/12/2023 19:21

In some parts of the country Morrisons is from a warehouse like Ocado (I don't know how you can find out if you are in that area though) - we are and find them very reliable - we are another household that alternates between Morrisons and Ocado and have a good service from both.

DelilahBucket · 27/12/2023 19:25

We've tried them all over the last few years and Ocado are by far the best. In terms of substitutions (hardly any), price (comparable to others for the quality you get), and fresh produce quality (very rarely throw fruit and veg out now whereas it wasn't lasting two minutes with other places.)

CeeJay81 · 27/12/2023 19:27

Tesco is by far the best here. Asda is dreadful with subs. We are rural though and have no Ocado.

LegoHeads · 27/12/2023 19:30

Ocado are great- hardly any subs and they price match Tesco (IME you still end up spending more as they stock more expensive things but if you are watching the pennies you can keep it to the price of a Tesco shop).

LegoFlower · 27/12/2023 20:15

Mumaway · 27/12/2023 18:42

Ocado, because it comes from a warehouse not a supermarket so stock more reliable so less substitution etc.

This. They are the only ones that generally deliver what they say is in stock when you order. Missing items/ substitutions are rare and when they do happen they are not insane, i.e. a different brand of toilet roll provided or Ocado fruit instead of M&S fruit but the same actual fruit and weight. And they turn up when they say they will. All other supermarket delivery services I've tried have turned into a total hassle. What is the point of ordering online if the order comes with items missing so you have to order again/ deliveroo what is missing etc?

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 27/12/2023 20:18

Waitrose for meat, fish etc, sains for groceries. I do a monthly bulk order at each and only need salad stuff weekly then.

LegoFlower · 27/12/2023 20:19

For meat/ fish I use the local butcher/ fishmonger respectively. Much better quality and very clear on sources. And both also deliver!

Cincinnatus · 27/12/2023 20:22

I’ve used Waitrose delivery for years. I use them because they are always on time, barely any subs and the customer service is always very special.
