What do you wish you hadn’t bothered having fitted? Is there some gadget you wouldn’t be without now? I’m having a new kitchen fitted in the next couple of months so I’m doing a bit of research.

Not planned one yet except I’m my head.

I want a tall cupboard with shelves that you can store and use gadgets - slow cooker plugged in - air fryer plugged in ready to use etc

I also want a cupboard for the washer and dryer with basket space and hanging space above and storage for powder and conditioner.

I also want a breakfast bars with lighting over - the long lighting like you get on billiard tables.

I would avoid the slide and hide ovens in future. Bits get stuck behind the glass and the oven cleaning firms refuse to clean them becuase they are very hard to reassemble.

I love our floor to ceiling cupboards and island which is solely drawers on one side, cupboards with seating on the reverse. Also our bora induction hob with integrated extractor was well worth the expense. It is so quick at boiling water we are glad we didn't bother with a boiling water tap and saved the undersink cupboard space for more bin storage.

Intergrated bin cupboard. Couldn’t be without it. It’s so nice not looking a bin in the kitchen (small kitchen) and gives the kitchen a more spacious feel.

Love the extractor hob, built in rubbish bins and pull out drawers for pots and pans.

@Hygeelady ours is a Qettle. You can visibly see it boiling as it comes out of the tap!

We went pretty simple so there are no gadgety things I regret. But if I had more money I wish I had got an oven in a tall unit so its out of reach from curious little people.

We are really glad we went for a freestanding rather than integrated bin, it has a sensor that you wave your hand over to make it open, easier and more hygienic than having to open a cupboard every time. It looks good too, several visitors have asked where we got it. We've had undersink bins in holiday homes and knew we definitely didn't want one. It also frees up space for the boiling water tap tank, which also supplies normal hot water so much more quickly than it used to get there from the boiler which is a long way away, great for handwashing or a quick wash of an item that can't go in the dishwasher.

@Paperbagsaremine it was a Howdens kitchen

I wouldn’t be without my pull out bin unit or the dishwasher. I wouldn’t have gone for an integrated fridge freezer if I had realised how much smaller it is compared to a free-standing one (which I now have in the utility room). I wish I had gone for a pull out larder. I semi-regret the quartz worktops as they stain really easy (tin can ring marks aghhh). I definitely still want to add a pan hanging rail as the two pan drawers aren’t enough.

ETA that my last minute decision to add the integrated high level microwave was worth every penny due to counter space saved
