Bicornuate uterus

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on here has bicornuate uterus and being pregnant? I'm just scared, I will speak to docs/midwife after Christmas about it. Just didn't know if anyone on here has/is going through same thing. Thank you in advance.

I've got a bicornuate uterus and two cervixes. I had to have surgery to divide the vaginal septum. I had no problems getting pregnant following this but did miscarry twice. Luckily I did have three healthy full term pregnancies so hopefully all will go well for you. Best wishes.

I'm so sorry about the miscarriages, I am really happy that you had three healthy babies. Thank you very much 🙏

Like pp I have a bicornate uterus and had 3 full term pregnancies and 2 miscarriages. Had one vaginal delivery and 2 c sections, as if baby gets into breech position it's not possible to turn them (this is what I was told anyway). Early pregnancies were hard as I bled heavily until about 20!weeks but progressed normally apart from that.
Slightly odd thing is that my bumps were lopsided depending on which half of uterus I carried. First one was on the right, next 2 on the left..
Wishing you well as it's a worry but hopefully all will work out.

I have a bicornuate uterus and didn't have any trouble getting pregnant. It wasn't discovered until after dc2 and I had a retained placenta after birth (some complications but all OK). If it had been known before hand then there would have been a plan in place.

My dm had the same and had 5 dc with few problems.

peachxs · 24/12/2023 12:47

Yes I do, along with endometriosis and pcos. I got pregnant following my endometriosis surgery whilst taking metformin for pcos, I'd previously had clomid which resulted in two pregnancies and two losses due to progesterone issue.
My little one is now 18 months old and was breech from 20 weeks on in pregnancy in a funny position due to uterus shape. Pregnancy was okay, I went into labour before my planned c section date but baby was perfectly healthy other than having typical breech 'frog legs'.
My issues with conceiving were to do with endo and hormone issues rather than the uterus shape.
Good luck x

Congrats! It depends on the degree of separation, whether you'll have more issues than others, or if the septum might need reducing prior to future pregnancies. A close friend had this, but I don't know the degree. She MC her 1st and had no idea she had a bicornate uterus prior to that.

She than had 2, healthy pregnancies. She did have more scans and was monitored more closely, but otherwise all was fine. Best of luck op x

I've just figured how to reply to each message sorry I'm new to this. I'm really sorry regarding your miscarriages. Was the bump really uncomfortable being one sided? Or more pressure? I'm sorry you went through hard pregnancy but glad it went OK:)

I had been diagnosed, but it actually ended up being a huge ovarian cyst making my uterus heart shaped. They actually were very positive about pregnancies with the condition - is yours heart shaped or more like 2 chambers?

Was the legs because of the funny position? I am sorry for silly questions I'm new to this

Hi, I had a bicornuate uterus and lost my first pregnancy at 10 weeks in miscarriage. Got pregnant 3 months later and had dd1 on her due day perfectly healthy pregnancy and delivery. Decided to try again about 18m later, and must have got pregnancy the day after we decided to start trying again. Dd 2 had perfectly healthy pregnancy bar one bleed unexplained at 30 weeks and a fantastic easy and fast delivery also on her due date.

no one mentioned my bicornuate uterus at all in either of my successful pregnancies.

id try not to worry! Best of luck x

It's not actually a heart shaped womb my one if that makes sense? Is there a womb that actually in heart shaped? Like two Chambers I believe

Thank you, this is what I am worried about. But I'll try my best not too. Also I'm very sorry for your miscarriage

I was told I have a "slightly heart shaped" uterus. I've conceived twice, once "by accident" and the second time took 4.5 years, but I was told the shape of my uterus shouldn't have been a factor in that (though they never did find out why it took so long to conceive the second time). Perfectly normal pregnancy. Had a pretty dramatic delivery, but as far as I know the shape of my uterus had nothing to do with that.

BobBillby · 24/12/2023 13:53

Wow @AnaVanda , me too… never heard of anyone else having the same before

mine was found when I was having DS and the septum with done after I’d had an epidural. No one had either noticed or thought to tell me until that point - pregnancy and birth was fine other than that OP

MotherofMigraines · 24/12/2023 13:57

Hi OP - sorry can't seem to reply to your previous post on the app. No pressure or pain carrying on one side, just looked a little off centre. But I could live with that! Like other posters I conceived easily each time. These messages seem positive so I hope your experience is positive also! Let us know how you get on x

KylieJennersMakeUpSponge · 24/12/2023 13:59

Yes! Have had two full term vaginal births with no (related) complications

I'm happy for you that you was able to concieve twice that's really good news. Sorry you had a bad delivery xx

I have a slightly bicornuate uterus and I never knew until my 4th pregnancy ended in mc, as had my 3rd but my first two were successful and the shape of my uterus wasn't a factor I don't think in my mc (more that I was 38 and 39). My 5th pregnancy was successful too.

I have a bi-coornuate uterus - it wasn't discovered until the scan with my second. I had no problems at all - got pregnant first or second month, 3 healthy straightforward pregnancies and deliveries - 2 of them at home 😊
