Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on here has bicornuate uterus and being pregnant? I'm just scared, I will speak to docs/midwife after Christmas about it. Just didn't know if anyone on here has/is going through same thing. Thank you in advance.

I have a bi-coornuate uterus - it wasn't discovered until the scan with my second. I had no problems at all - got pregnant first or second month, 3 healthy straightforward pregnancies and deliveries - 2 of them at home 😊

Thank you for telling me this. Really am sorry that the 3rd one didn't come home if I read that properly? If I didn't I do apologise.

I have a bicornuate uterus, two children, both vaginal births though no 1 child was ventouse. They both lay odd and DC 1 was breech to the point where we were planning the caesarian in a couple of weeks (having been told all through the pregnancy that there wasn't room for them to turn!) at which point they turned round....
I had a miscarriage at 18 weeks in my first pregnancy, with problems from the beginning. This was when the bicornuate uterus was picked up but no-one suggested that they were connected.
My Mum also had a bicornuate uterus and had surgery, I think they thought this was needed for her to conceive. She had my sister and I by caesarian. I'm in my 60s so this was a long time ago!

Whats venture if you don't mind me asking? I've not had any issues so far touch wood. I'm in my first trimester so hoping stays positive. Thank you for telling me this. I thought not many people had this bit can see it's more common than I thought. I really am sorry about the miscarriage.

@Jeyla1230 ventouse is a way to help deliver babies, like a forceps delivery - it uses a suction cap to help give the baby a bit of an extra pull to be delivered.Sorry, I'm not sure why I mentioned it - it's not relevant to the bicornuate uterus.

I was lucky I think in that Mum had talked to my sister and I about what had happened with her,so it felt as if I'd always known about bicornuate uteruses. When mine was picked up I was surprised but in an "oh, that's what Mum had! " way. And of course I knew she had had two children successfully Smile
I'm glad your pregnancy has been straightforward so far,and best wishes for the rest of it!

Thank you for informing me :) it's ok anything to do with pregnancy I'm happy to learn. I'm very new to this when people say certain things I have to Google or ask 😂. I found out few years ago when I had a smear test.

I'm very glad that your mum had two birth successfully 😊it is really nice to hear.

Thank you so much 💕

I didn't find out about mine until after I had my second child. I had very straightforward pregnancies/births. I did also have 2 miscarriages in between but didn't assume that was for any particular reason.

Thank you. I think the average stats are something like 1 in 3 pregnancies end in miscarriage anyway so I just put it down to that.

Ahh ok I didn't know that. I'm trying to refrain myself from reading more about it as I'll just panic myself

I realise this is an old thread and I hope things have moved on for you.

I'm sorry @Daniw6349 for what you have gone through. I think you need to have a discussion with your obstetrician.

I struggled to conceive for 3 and a half years but as it turned out, flushing dye through my Fallopian tubes sorted that out!

I only discovered I had a bicornuate uterus when I was pregnant with my 3rd baby and after two miscarriages!
