This is such a good idea, DC spend less time alone if parents are working, and when they are home they can switch off completely from school. Gets people into good habits for healthy work life balance

Would be horrendous for a lot of children though who need the extra downtime. It would make school close of impossible for DS by the end of the week!

I'm near Glasgow and that's a primary school.

It's not just Edinburgh schools. I'm in North Lanarkshire and our secondary schools finish at 12.30 on a Friday now.

I’m a primary special school teacher. The day officially starts at 9am but the children can be dropped off with their teachers/ TAs from 8:45. School finishes at 3pm.

DS secondary 8.35 to 3.15 Mon to Fri
DD secondary 8.30 to 3.10 Mon to Thurs, 8.35 to 1.40 Friday

Ridiculous to start this early for secondary pupils, would be much more sensible to start at 10am to work with their circadian rhythms. Most kids who finish at 2:30pm have to go home to an empty house as parents are working which is not great.

The system here is to suit the teachers not the children which is bonkers.
