Only one is mine.

How can I encourage the other ones to go home? I really want my house back!!

turn off the wifi

GMsAWinner · 19/12/2023 11:58

I'd be worrying, it's getting on for lunchtime and they'll be in there soon!!

Daftolive · 19/12/2023 11:58

Offer celery sticks when they come looking for snacks?

Candycurrantbun · 19/12/2023 11:59

Send them up to your Ds's bedroom?

Daftolive · 19/12/2023 12:01

My friend’s mother used to aggressively hoover outside her room door. That carpet must have been threadbare by the time we left school!

Rocknrollstar · 19/12/2023 12:04

I loved having 6 large lads in my living room during the day, but not in the evening. And they always brought their own soft drinks and sent out for pizza.

cheezncrackers · 19/12/2023 12:13

I did strategically empty the dishwasher at 11am to wake them up. And I was kind of hoping that once they were awake they'd either piss off into town for food or go home. But they're all still loafing around on the sofas. I don't feel I can banish them to DS's room and I do want DS to feel he can have friends over. But this was a sleepover. They've been here since 5.30pm yesterday and I'm really eager for them to go now!

Just tell them it's time to go.

BabyYoshke · 19/12/2023 12:15

Go in and start chatting to them about Coronation Street and periods.

Desecratedcoconut · 19/12/2023 12:18

Start hoovering and mutter something like, teamwork makes the dream work.

LubaLuca · 19/12/2023 12:19

I've got to say, I like it when this happens with my kids' friends. It reminds me of being an (unwittingly unwelcome) guest in friends' parents' houses the morning after nights out - they were the best times.

As long as they leave the place tidy and don't make loads of noise, I'll leave them to it.

WotNoUserName · 19/12/2023 12:21

Start singing and dancing.

Or talk like you think a teen talks at then, innit fam.

Or cause a wifi malfunction.

SplendidUtterly · 19/12/2023 12:25

You need to act quick because it's lunchtime soon!

WrittenInBlue · 19/12/2023 12:27

Start frying something, that will wake them up.

My parents loved having my mates around but once (when I wasn’t there as friend was staying overnight for uni interview and I was away at school) my DM and DSis apparently traumatised my male friend with an in-depth discussion on hair mascara (I think that they sought his opinion might have been the issue!).

TinselTitts · 19/12/2023 12:32

They've been here since 5.30pm yesterday and I'm really eager for them to go now!

So tell your son and give him half an hour's notice 🤷‍♂️

Turmerictolly · 19/12/2023 12:15

Just tell them it's time to go.

This. Not sure why you are tiptoeing around.

"It's been lovely seeing you lads but I'd like my living room back now, please"

Or tell DS to tell them.

They can either go and hang out wherever-teens-hang-out-in-your-area or go home.

HelpMeGetThrough · 19/12/2023 12:35

Right, you've been here since 5:30 last night and I've got things to do in the house, you know your welcome here, but it's now time to bugger off, so I can get on.

Vitriolinsanity · 19/12/2023 12:36

HIDE THE CHEESE BREAD AND BACON!

In half an hour you're going to experience the same effect of having a plague of locusts ravaging your crops.

Throw a Dominoes leaflet into the room and shut the door tightly.

Upside, you'll have enough boxes to build a small extension.

wizzler · 19/12/2023 12:37

Agree with pp. turn off the Wi-Fi

Unfortunately for this plan, there will be at least one in the group who has unlimited (or a large amount of) data, who will therefore switch to using data and make his phone a hot spot.

At least, I've never understood why this is always suggested as a solution ...

Nottodaty · 19/12/2023 12:40

Ohh the smell!! My sister usually goes in and opens the window and starts to hoover around then…that usually works!

Though caution as they have a tendency of wandering to the shops and return with food to then trash the kitchen

MILTOBE · 19/12/2023 12:40

I'd make them some toast and say "Here you go, thought you might like this before you go."

DramaAlpaca · 19/12/2023 12:40

I know I'm missing the point spectacularly, but now my own lads have grown up and moved out I find myself missing the days of getting up and finding random teenagers asleep all over the house.

WellWellSaidTheRockingChair · 19/12/2023 12:40

”right boys, it’s been lovely having you, but I’m afraid I need to send you off before xxx time”.

have a lovely Christmas x safe home.
