Only one is mine.

How can I encourage the other ones to go home? I really want my house back!!

Hand out dusters and wash clots. Start allocating chores. They will disappear like snow off a dyke!

Terrribletwos · 19/12/2023 12:53

Ah, the days! I used to rather like having the boy's mates around but there was a limit and they were definitely understanding when I told them they had to leave....now! Never had any problems telling them they must go home as I had things to do. They mostly apologized and scarpered! Just be strict, don't be a pushover.

QueenBitch666 · 19/12/2023 13:14

Just tell them it's time to go. Why's it so difficult?

PhulNana · 19/12/2023 13:16

I'd be choking on the teen spirit, and wanting to open a windy.

InefficientProcess · 19/12/2023 13:16

Ask them to help with housework.

Worst case scenario, they do the housework.

CurlewKate · 19/12/2023 13:27

I remember my friend once sent me a picture of her hall one morning. 6 pairs of enormous trainers and a unicycle.

cheezncrackers · 19/12/2023 13:33

They've all gone now. Two took me up on my offer of a lift to the station and the others got picked up. They were pretty well behaved and they're nice boys so I didn't want to kick them out. They tidied up after themselves too, which I appreciated!

My parents have got 5 of them (one of them is my son) for 3 days. Last summer they all stayed the entire week.

It's great.

Sebsaloysius · 19/12/2023 13:40

As is often the case on MN, the first answer is the magic wand!

Comefromaway · 19/12/2023 13:50

We've got a drumkit, keyboard, bass & guitar in the garage but a unicyle is quite something else CurlewKate

I've been a single parent most of my life
. When my eldest was a teenager every weekend about 6 of her friends would sleep over.. l loved it.. l was in my bedroom mostly .. watching telly or just doing chores... they are all late 30s now and still talk about me.. in the most wonderful way.. of how welcoming and great l was. Fond memories.. enjoy it.

Bookkeepermum · 21/12/2023 08:38

Put Spice Girls on really loud and do the "mum dance"

Beebumble2 · 21/12/2023 09:04

Oh how I miss those days. We were the last house in the city, before the countryside and no taxis.
Frying bacon to get them up and opening windows to let out the ‘boy’ smell!

Creamteasandbumblebees · 21/12/2023 10:13

Last time DS had a sleepover with 5 mates, the dog ran into the living room with my red lacey thong she'd stolen from the laundry pile. They soon departed!

Go in and start chatting to them about Coronation Street and periods.

😂

Sahara123 · 21/12/2023 10:50

@DramaAlpaca Me too !! Although for me it was girls . Who are now fabulous young women who tell me it was lovely, they knew they were always welcome at our house . Kind of miss those days of sleepy teenagers and their sleeping bags.

LlynTegid · 21/12/2023 11:01

Glad you resolved it amicably. The idea of the Spice Girls is just cruel, there are human rights laws in this country!!

JellyComb · 21/12/2023 12:16

I used to love my boys having friends over. I was known for making them all bacon sarnies in the morning with mugs of tea and giving them lifts back into town. It went on till they all went to Uni. I AM glad its stopped now, but it was quite nice at the time.

northernbeee · 21/12/2023 13:39

Cherish it!!

thatbigbear · 21/12/2023 13:47

@Digestivechocolatebiscuit my boy isn't a teen quite yet, but I am hoping to be just that kind of mum, in that kind of house x

gingercat02 · 21/12/2023 13:50

Don't be mean. Let them stay. If yours is there go to you always know where they are and what they are up to!

Dutch1e · 21/12/2023 15:38

Ahhh, that sounded so fun! Glad you managed to pry the lovely lads off the couch eventually.

youneveractually · 21/12/2023 15:39

how old op?

big difference between 13 and 19 year olds!

youneveractually · 21/12/2023 15:40

this is exactly why i spent >£20k on a garden room with flash tv and wi-fi and heating

I want my son to have his friends here and feel relaxed BUT not actually in my lounge!
