Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Up bright & early with an alarm so I still get to sit here in silence before everyone else gets up in 5 ish. The washer's on & there's a bowl of water run for pots already so they can be done as they come down from the girls' rooms.

We're getting the 10:11 train to York for the day for a wander of the Christmas market. I think we might spend an hour at the Railway Museum too. I'm very much looking forward to it & have saved up Vinted sales money for the train fare & railcard 😊

I'm hoping to find something for my dad while we're there, and dd2 has requested a browse in Waterstones. I still remember buying my favourite book there when I was 13 ish - still have the same battered copy of it.

No idea what time we'll be in but I have about 10 rows of a crochet penis to finish when we get in so I can deliver it to work for my colleagues Mum on Monday, so I'll do that and then head to bed.

Have a fab time in York, what a beautiful city, I wonder if the Minster has been decorated for Christmas.

In the early hours of this morning my house lights have failed, so I'm staying in bed till it's light, as I don't want to risk the dark stairs and fall down them.
Hopefully, I will be able to put it right this morning.

I am still laying in bed as everyone else asleep. Planning to make coffee soon and finish wrapping the last few gifts.

DD has a friend staying over so pancakes for breakfast before we take them both to a pottery session (make your own mug) then drop her friend home.

Hairdressers mid afternoon for a blow dry then nails afterwards. DH and I are going to meet friends for dinner tonight about an hour away so have booked a room to stay over. DD is off to grandparents.

I've woken up feeling dreadful but we are seeing Father Christmas today so must soldier on.

I just want to crawl back into bed.

Virgin are currently here setting up are new super speedy fast internet.

Meant to be heading out for lunch with my dad and brothers and their teens this afternoon but I'm still feeling shite with flu/cold type virus so I'm not sure, also need to make a decision about whether I'm well enough to go back to work tomorrow night.

Kids are with their dad this morning so I’ll be doing a pre-Christmas deep clean of the bathrooms and bedrooms- I bought a new scrubber thing for the bathrooms so I’m ridiculously excited about trying it out.

This afternoon we’re going to a friends house for a play date/coffee/dinner - she’s a good friend so we’ll be there most of the evening then home for bed.

Just back from walking the dog, lm in Spain, bright sunshine and 9 degrees here this morning. Im working this evening but I have a day of Christmas card writing , cutting DH'S hair, videocalls to family and will hopefully fit in a Christmas film. 🎅

Still in bed at the moment, will get up in a bit, shower etc. The oven cleaning guy will be arriving at 10. I’m going out to get some new cushions and blanket for the sofa in the kitchen as we’ve ordered some replacement bar stools and everything needs a bit of a spruce up. I’m expecting a lot of deliveries today.
Also both my sisters are dropping in this afternoon which is amazing, one lives nearby and I see her fairly regularly but the other lives far away and I haven’t seen her for 2 years! I can’t wait ☺️

Over at dp's house for the last time as he's moving in with me next week, so a bit of light sorting plus a lovely walk round his area for nostalgia sake (the area we've chosen together is much nicer but still). Ds is at home hosting 5 of his uni friends so hoping the house is still functioning when we get back!

I'm still in bed at the moment, waiting for DD to get picked up by her dad. DH and I have to go into the city this morning which I'm dreading and then pick up DDs birthday cake for Monday. Not sure how she's suddenly going to be 10, that's gone too fast! Will pick something easy up for tea whilst we're out and then I have a mountain of birthday and Christmas presents to wrap while the Strictly final is on

We have no football for the Dss's for the first time in months. I'm feeling a bit better after weeks of being ill. This feels like victory. Currently all in bed with tea and toast.
We are going to go out later to a Christmas market and lunch (with all four kids for once which could go either way-at least one of them will be stroppy about something as is always the way ).

We have had some security concerns (someone trying to get in the house) and we are a bit freaked out so we have a man coming round later to price up some better cameras etc.

Dinner at home, think will make a big chilli. Then we will loaf about watching Christmas films I hope, and an early night.

Feeling a bit tired after work's Christmas do last night but I had a fab time so it's worth it.

Having first cuppa & cuddle with Pixie the cat, first wash on, need to do some tidying up before DD1 comes back from uni for Christmas later (I've been using her room as a wardrobe!). Walking friend's dog later. No doubt lots of cups of tea throughout the day. Making puff pastry tarts for tea later.

I love York! Must be amazing this time of year

Swimming lesson soon, then off to collect DC1 after a sleep over.

Later this afternoon the neighbours are gathering for mince pies, mulled wine and carols but we are only going to swing by as DC2 is singing in her school choir at a local event.

Will be a late dinner (probably just something easy like fajitas) and then probably a film.

Just going into town this morning to collect my Crew Clothing order before they send it back! I keep forgetting. Town on a Saturday before Christmas is nuts!!

I also have 2 parcels to collect from Next but have decided to return them straight away and wait for the sales. I really want a pink sweater.

Everything I own is striped, black or grey! and I want some colour in my life. I look good in a coral pink. 😊

And then off to pick up a new kettle as ours is flaking off plastic! it was a Russell Hobbs kettle for about £60 and am shocked at the quality. so won't be buying those again! the new one is a Kenwood so fingers crossed it'll last.

Then a beach walk. and we must finish the GCHQ Christmas Puzzle today.

I'm waiting for Royal Mail to collect some parcels and I have to take my BooHoo returns (nothing suitable 🙁) to the inpost lockers. I'm going to cross town to go to Homebase as they have some Xmas lights in the sale then it's a Xmas party at friends. Tonight it's the Strictly final.

After a very busy week, and terrible night's sleep, I'm trying to motivate myself to get up & drive to my mum's (2-ish hours) & back again later.

It's a slightly pointless trip - mother in desperate form & doesn't want me to come, but it was her birthday this week and I've Christmas presents for her & other family locally to deliver.

I am trying to force persuade my 14yo DS to come - I want company & don't want to leave all 3 together for the day (2 will be fine, 3 there'll definitely be a row).

@lucysmam your weekends always sound lovely. I read your posts enviously!

I've got the Christmas teapot out so I'll be here for a while yet (despite almost spitting it out at crochet penis!).

Then I want to tidy the garden a bit and a couple do work admin bits. Then DD has a party here this afternoon. I'll be hiding to finish off the wrapping and maybe take a dog walk if it gets loud (they're adults or thereabouts). Is it wrong to hope they'll be gone before casualty has it big return...

I've just taken the dog out for a walk in the first sunshine we've had in what feels like weeks! Going to make Stollen (after seeing Mary Berry make it on TV this week) and a batch of cheese scones then heading out with DC and dog to meet family for a walk on the beach after lunch.
Tonight me and DH are off to a friends for their annual Christmas do, they always do amazing food so I can't wait.

I'm not crochetting < is that the right word? A penis or any other appendages today.. but LOL.. the penises I've been familiar with were less use than a crocheted version.. their actual penises weren't much better. Ha.

I've been 'getting up' for about 2 hours now..
I got out of bed briefly to make coffee and let the dog out, but that didn't count. That's not Up Up..

Once I am Up Up, dog walk and in to town with DD for a look around the Xmas tat in the shops. She is now beyond the age when she believes in the magic, but she's not quite at the cynical teenager yet.

Highlight today will be a Hot Chocolate from McDonalds. The Caramel Special One. I had one last weekend and I'm very surprised I've resisted the temptation to go every day. So blooming nice.. 🤤

Love these threads, I'm yet to even have a coffee if u get up I'll wake the pack of dogs who are still fast asleep, so I'm just browsing online.

My eldest was up and out to work at 7am having hit home at 1 and that makes me tired just thinking about it.

I'm off to the village fete later today there is so much effort put into it - so just buying a few raffle tickets and jams will be great and support the stalls.

I have to brush and walk the dogs and I'm currently resisting the urge to buy a new to us car as we have nonstop issues with our old one and we've spend a few weekends testing others.

I'm thinking its the spending urge I get a bit "airport mode" at Christmas so have to stay away from shops else I casually buy £80 aftershaves and expensive things I don't need!!

DS2 came home from Uni in York last night. DS2 home later from Nottingham. So I will mostly be washing!

Still in bed at the moment deciding on what to do for the day.
Probably won't be anything too strenuous as DH will inevitably have a hangover today 😅
DS is at my parents house and DD is starting to wake up.
Will probably go for a walk into town, browse the shops and get some lunch before coming home, wrapping some presents and starting the big Christmas clean
