Curious as to what people get from their employers as a Xmas bonus/Xmas gift

OP posts:
Ibizabar · 10/12/2023 17:43

Public sector, so nothing.

Scarletttulips · 10/12/2023 17:45

£100 vouchers - paid for team meal, paid for Christmas party all good/drinks paid for.

Did work for government and got nothing - paid for our own parties etc.

Isanyonereallyanonymous · 10/12/2023 17:48

Big corporates - large Christmas party for all staff, very often a team Christmas party and occasionally a bottle of bubbly from the big boss for our division.
Charity - £15 budget per person to put towards some kind of team gathering.
I will admit to missing rowdy team nights out but not the big Christmas parties.
I also used to work in relationship management and our partners would send hampers etc which were always appreciated!

Two jobs:

Absolutely nothing, not even a 'thank you' or 'Happy Christmas'

£20 for each full day 7.5 day you're contracted to work. Entertainment allowance is £12, some have been out for a drink on that, the rest of us will get a bottle of wine and tin of choccies.

ANightingale · 10/12/2023 17:50

We get £50 allowance for a celebration.

MiniCooperLover · 10/12/2023 17:51

I usually get a £100 John Lewis voucher. I saved them up for a Ninja 👍

Doyouthinktheyknow · 10/12/2023 17:53

NHS. Nothing.

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 10/12/2023 17:54

Fuck all.

MagentaRocks · 10/12/2023 17:56

Public service, so me and my team get a tin of heroes or similar between about 20+ of us. I do however make an effort for the people I manage. There are 3 of us that manage the team. I do the gifts and we split the cost. I always do something home made, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding vodka or something else christmassy and other bits, so socks, Christmas puzzle, chocolates etc. it always goes down really well, especially as there is home made stuff.

Ffalabalam · 10/12/2023 17:58

Civil service. Nothing. Have to take flexi for our team Christmas lunch, which obviously we also have to pay for ourselves.

FiftyandUnfit · 10/12/2023 18:45

Christmas party up to £50 per person but if you don't go then you don't get anything. The managers of which I'm one club together and buy all staff a couple of bottles of wine. I don't know if they know it's paid for by us rather than work though - I hadn't realised before getting promoted and being handed a bill!!

CornishPorsche · 10/12/2023 18:48

Public sector. Nothing.
Although the big boss did buy a round in Wetherspoons last week after the Xmas dinner which was decent of him

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/12/2023 18:54

Charity.

Nothing.

Our team manager has paid the extra for us to have a buffet on top of our usual evening meal allowance. I think about £8 per person. Means we now have to go to the buffet after work because he's paid out of his own pocket 👎🏻

Cas112 · 10/12/2023 18:55

Can choose between a bottle of alcohol or box of chocolates

We do get a good Christmas bonus though usually

claracluck1978 · 10/12/2023 19:00

Usually £100 voucher
Christmas meal out and drinks
Then we get sent/given wine/chocs/sweets from clients so they get split between us too.
Very small company

reluctantbrit · 10/12/2023 19:05

Fully paid for Christmas party
£40 towards a team dinner/activity but we also get £80 per year for team building so we just add both together and have a really nice evening.
£50 Amazon voucher

My direct boss sends over (different location) biscuits and chocolate.

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 10/12/2023 19:06

Third sector, so nothing.

DH public sector but boss so he gets nothing but gives each staff member a small gift (candles last year, £10 vouchers for local coffee shop nearest them this year) plus he brings treats in the last week of term and buys a round for everyone after their Christmas lunch. Sets us back around £300 which grates a bit.

Gymmum82 · 10/12/2023 19:07

Box of chocolates usually

crackfoxy · 10/12/2023 19:07

Job 1 - dinner in local restaurant

Job 2 - hamper, free night out/food/disco & drink plus £100 gift voucher

Monkeybutt1 · 10/12/2023 19:11

Tier 1 Bank we got £40 for a meal and an 8% bonus.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 10/12/2023 19:24

My boss usually sends a hamper which he pays for himself.

Bugger all. More work. Less money. Public sector.

motherofawhirlwind · 10/12/2023 19:37

Financial Services - fully funded Xmas party inc bar, fully funded team lunch, gift from the boss - usually £100 John Lewis voucher.

Bonuses are not related to Xmas.

I'm never leaving.

ChristmasPuddy · 10/12/2023 19:41

Nothing except the Christmas party which wasn’t even big enough to accommodate everyone this year so there was a waiting list. I work in accountancy.

anicecuppateaa · 10/12/2023 19:43

Global law firm. Large party for staff. I won’t be going as I got food poisoning at the party a few years ago…

Nothing from my extremely well paid boss so I’m treating myself to a more relaxed few weeks before Christmas…
