I'm just brewing my first cuppa, in my tea pot. I haven't used it in ages so thought I'd treat myself. The girls are still asleep so it's nice and quiet down here, for now.

I've got the washer going already for uniform & I'll hang that before I head into town. I'm hoping to finish my Christmas shopping for the girls today, and buy most of the things I want for dd2's birthday on 28th December. I could do with finding something for my dad too. That'll just leave me a small list of things to order online & I'll send those to my friend's address where there's always someone in.

The girls aren't coming this time. Dd1's offered to go to Lidl to top up fruit, salad and bread. She's going to have a wander down the seasonal treats aisle too 😋 . She might change her mind though when she sees the weather 🌧

Dd2's plans, when I asked last night, were lots of sleep, write the few Christmas cards she wants to give school friends, and her homework. She'll probably have either her weekly call with her friend in the Netherlands, or the one who moved schools too.

I'm likely to eat out again, so tea for the girls will probably be a takeaway pizza of some sort.

A bit of crafting for me tonight - making bead tassels for my Midnights Eras tour jacket & then a fairly early night (it's always an early night!).

What about all of you? 🙂

Still hibernating in bed, it's vile outside! DH is downstairs making a cup of tea, DD is in her room. We're all coughing like crazy and generally feeling rubbish, so a lazy day I think. Maybe a trip to M&S later for something nice but easy for tea. Strictly tonight and then an early night all round.

FizzyStream · 09/12/2023 10:09

Morning All
DH has just taken our two DS to their drama club where they have a dress rehearsal for their show later on this morning. I've been faffing with my hair.
After the show DH is taking DS1 to Old Trafford to watch the footy and I'm going to try and wrestle with the Christmas decs with DS2.
Got my massive leg of lamb out the freezer for tomorrow's lunch.
Nothing much else to do apart from the usual chores. Quiet night in front of the tv I think once the kids are in bed, should do wrapping but CBA.

Ostryga · 09/12/2023 10:11

Good morning! Having a lazy morning, then getting ready to head over to my friend’s house to dog sit her exceptionally cute puppy. Dd can’t wait.

Morning,I have a lovely day of lunch and Christmas markets planned with a friend. DH is taking the DC out to choose the tree and hopefully it will be decorated too by the time I get back - well that's what I asked for but I won't be surprised if I come back to find it plonked in the lounge looking v bare!

Purplerain0505 · 09/12/2023 10:23

I’m having the most lovely, relaxing morning! DH and DS left me to have a decent lie in and then DS eventually woke me up with cuddles. Then the cats joined, then DH came along too. So that was a nice way to wake up.

DH is resting in bed now because he’s feeling a bit under the weather. I’ve had my coffee and DS is gaming. I’ll sort out some croissants in a mo. Then we’re off to the farm to choose a Christmas tree! Weather hasn’t been fab but it’s stopped raining and brightened up so we should be fine. The afternoon will be spent decorating and drinking Baileys!

flexigirl · 09/12/2023 10:24

Morning - basically the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful 😂 ( even though I had to hoof the coal in from outside and managed to get a massive splinter in my finger from the woodpile ) it's never quite like the Christmas songs is it? But my intention is to wrap presents while watching cheesy Christmas movies ALL DAY LONG I'm not moving from in front of this fire . Hope you all have nice days despite this dreadful weather

piscofrisco · 09/12/2023 10:24

Morning all. I am on week 599 it seems of feeling ill. Ear infections/chest infections/meh. DH has just tested positive for Covid and feels awful. So we are lying in bed watching the rain on the window and in the process of cancelling our booked trip to Krakow tomorrow which was for my Birthday, also tomorrow. Feeling very fed up.
Will get up in a bit and try and walk the dogs around the block. Might try and do some Christmas wrapping later.
Dh hates being ill as he can't sit still at the best of times. He doesn't read and he doesn't watch TV really-so i predict that in about two hours he will be come very tetchy indeed on top of feeling ill.
I would hunker down and watch a box set at least in these circs but feel bad as he won't be able to settle to it. Ugh.
Hope everyone here has a better day than me! Smile

Visiting family this afternoon and off to a carol concert this evening. Until all that I am going to tidy the house and make a chilli.

MrsDilligaf · 09/12/2023 10:28

Washing the floors, tackling the laundry and marzipaning the Christmas Cake.

Tonight I have big plans involving a Baileys, Blanket and a crappy Christmas movie.

SadCelticBunny · 09/12/2023 10:30

I am so excited!
Seeing my oldest grandson for the first time in 6 months ☺️. Sadly his fiancée is poorly, I really like her.

We are having a meal with my wife, daughter, (his mum) her DP!
We are going to the Big City so it will be good to get some shopping in too as there are some lovely stalls.
I can also drop hints about which books I would like to find in my Yule Stocking
🌟🎄🌲🎄🌟

piscofrisco · 09/12/2023 10:31

@AdaColeman is your lamb dish the one that should have the little hats on the ends of the bones? You don't see that often any more do you? I asked the butcher about it last week and he said the hats are in short supply as there is only one factory that makes them. Fun fact. Grin

Chelsea26 · 09/12/2023 10:48

Morning all! I’m back in bed! I did get up to take DS1 to football training, dropped him off and then got called to turn around and come and get him 10 minutes later as it was called off. So I came back to bed with a coffee for DP and I.

Going to get in the shower in a sec and then go down and tackle the kitchen. It was our village Christmas Festival last night so tat and takeaway stuff all over the place. Then I’ll make scrambled eggs with bacon, spring onions, mushrooms and spinach for brunch.

The boys are going to their dads tonight so a quiet night for DP and me, sausage and mash and probably a Christmas movie or two

porridgeisbae · 09/12/2023 10:52

Trying to get a train home from quite a way up north where I had to visit a sick friend.

Utter fail yesterday because of the strikes the day before.

OldTinHat · 09/12/2023 11:06

Good morning!

I've had a builder here this morning for a fresh pair of eyes on the damp issue in my house. I stupidly paid for a chemical injection treatment 5yrs ago which did nothing. I'm on a mission to get the problem fixed and take the original contractor to court.

Other than that, I might bumble into town for a mooch and I must post my Christmas cards.

Happy Saturday!

Mollyplop999 · 09/12/2023 11:20

Morning Everyone, sending good wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery for all those who are ill. DD picked me up to go and sort the ponies in the rain and wind this morning. Came back and made a Christmas cake. Normally do it in September but never got round to it. It smells lovely in the kitchen. May go for a crafty read and nap later.

MissMarplesNiece · 09/12/2023 11:30

I've just got back from the weekly shop which this week has included some nice Christmas food/snacks and some bottles of wine. I'm now waiting for DH to make me a hot chocolate.

This afternoon I am crafting, in particular trying to finish off a quilt which is part of a Christmas present.

AdaColeman · 09/12/2023 11:31

@piscofrisco
No, Navarin of lamb is a creamy lamb casserole with peas.

The lamb with the little paper rosettes is a Crown of lamb, which is a rack of lamb chops curved into a circle and roasted. The paper rosettes were to disguise the ends of the chop bones.

It's an impressive dish, but rarely seen these days. You often used to see it on the roast trolley of restaurants in days of yore!
Interesting fact about the factory! The little rosettes are quite intricate, the sort of thing laser cutting would do well.

Just sorting out the outdoor Christmas lights and trying to figure out what goes where despite dh carefully labelling everything last year 😂 he’s just gone out to buy another set as we’re convinced we’ve lost some…
ds and I are going to start wrapping presents in the meantime.
Then we’ll be up and down the ladders in the rain putting them up!
Dc1 is on the way home from uni, dc2 is at work.
We’re doing a Mexican night tonight for dinner so one of us will go to the shops this afternoon.
Can’t wait to have everyone back together under one roof again and hopefully I will start to feel some kind of Christmas spirit!

AdaColeman · 09/12/2023 11:36

Sorry for the double post, it seems to happen when I post a long reply, telling me to be short & sweet probably!

Get well soon all those poorly posters! 🍇 💐

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/12/2023 11:37

We're meeting the outlaws at the bird sanctuary in a while. DH is faffing around as usual, as are the teen DSs.

I'm ready to leave right now, but shortly I expect one or all of them to be standing at the front door saying "Come on, then" as though I'M the one that has delayed us from leaving... 😂

DanceMumTaxi · 09/12/2023 11:39

Marking year 11 mock exams. It’ll take me the whole day 😩 Just hope I don’t have to carry on tomorrow.

piscofrisco · 09/12/2023 11:40

@AdaColeman well now I want your Navarin of lamb! That would be just the ticket for the house of sick that we are this weekend! As it is, it will be take out I think k as neither of us can be bothered cooking. If we have anything at all, as we aren't even hungry (so we are definitely ill! Grin)

Taytocrisps · 09/12/2023 12:00

I'm doing something exciting for a change. I'm spending the weekend in Dublin with my adult DD. I'm from Dublin originally (don't live there now) and it's such fun being a tourist in my own city. Last night we had cocktails near our hotel. DD has booked a tattoo for tomorrow. We're just about to do a bus tour of the city and then we'll stop for coffee somewhere nice. This evening we're having an early dinner and then going to see Peter Pan. Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging but every other Saturday I'm doing shopping and housework. Makes a nice change 🙂.

DonDraper1 · 09/12/2023 12:09

We were up at 8 to take DD swimming. Managed to squeeze in a little Chriatmas shopping and wedding admin in the car!
After swimming I cleaned the bathrooms and started the school uniform wash- which seems to dominate the weekends!
Now getting ready for lunch out and then a museum with friends (we're not going to let this awful weather rain on our parade) and then back home for more wedding admin and a film.
DD and DP off to so some baking and Christmas crafts with Auntie!
