How do you wrap a download code? 🎁

springbabydays · 07/12/2023 10:38

Is it not possible to just buy the box any more? It looks like if I buy this game for my son there will be nothing tangible under the tree. I'm not creative at all. 🙁

Help!

Look on Etsy, search game code vouchers or personalised vouchers and plenty come up. Something like this?

Or this

Whenever we've bought things like download codes etc. I've made up something similar to a gift card and put the info on there, be it a number or a link.

At least they get something that needs opening Grin

BoohooWoohoo · 07/12/2023 12:06

I put it in a Christmas card designed for gift cards.

PatriciaHolm · 07/12/2023 12:08

Print it out and put it in a shoebox, or a box from a card shop.

PandaCory · 07/12/2023 12:14

Print out the code and wrap it up with something else (a boring pair of socks or something silly). Or put it in a box inside a bigger box inside a bigger box...

You're only buying a computer game for your son for Christmas? Confused

SoupDragon · 07/12/2023 12:15

I used to print them out and wrap them in a box or round a giant jar of Nutella.

Whatdoyouwantforxmas · 07/12/2023 12:19

Tie it to the string of a helium balloon pop the baloon into a big box with a fancy ribbon round. Open box lid, balloon floats out.

Xiaoxiong · 07/12/2023 12:39

Do a box inside a box inside a box and wrap each one with some sweets like when he was little with pass the parcel. And then have the code in a little tiny box to finish.

I saw on another thread (but can't find it sorry)
A little maze puzzle box.

You print off voucher code. Put inside puzzle box and they have to complete the maze to open the box.

Are you prone to overthinking? 😄 No it's not the only thing. But even if it was, why judge??

Thanks to everyone else on the thread who has made suggestions.

How bloody rude. If that's all she's buying, so fucking what? What's it to you?

A) Games aren't cheap
B) Lots of people struggle and may have been putting pennies aside to 'only buy a game'

For goodness sake, what's wrong with you?

nomoresnacks · 07/12/2023 13:22

Poundland have a puzzle that holds gift cards vouchers - you have to do the puzzle to unlock the card ? What about printing it off and buying one of the puzzles and putting it inside

WeirdPookah · 07/12/2023 13:31

When I got an expansion pack, my husband did a silly photoshop of the game with some of the elements of the expansion pack (a dragon attacking a cosy homestead). He then wrapped it in a box. Gave me a laugh as well.

oh those sound great!

SaltPepperPotato · 07/12/2023 13:50

I gave my husband concert tickets in a gift box with tissue paper so he had to ‘unwrap’ the tissue paper to reveal the tickets. I made the ticket using a template on Canva as the email confirmation was so boring to look at!

trulyunruly01 · 07/12/2023 14:06

As my dc have got older and the packages smaller, sometimes consisting only of a piece of paper, I've taken to giving small packages of 'clues' as well - a t shirt, a key ring, a pair of socks.

steppemum · 07/12/2023 14:22

so I would print it off giant sized on a piece of paper.

then roll it up and wrap it as a tube.

That makes it a more fun thing to open and an actual present not an envelope, but as soon as they open it, they see that it is what they want.

works well.

Or put it on a small card and tuck it into the top/lid of sweets/chocs etc.

I always think that it is nice to have somethign to unwrap

Oh this is great, thank you!
I have lots of vouchers for neices and nephews this year.

Oblomov23 · 07/12/2023 14:27

Oh I used to love these. They were Ds1's and Ds2's favourite present. Agree with all pp's, I enjoyed printing something off, sticking it to something, or just popping it in a Xmas card. Then something physical to open. Ignore silly pp. my 2 loved this more than anything.

Oblomov23 · 07/12/2023 14:30

LOVE the Poundland puzzle idea, at £1, thank you pp.

@GladioliandSweetPeas do you realise how expensive computer games are?
I expect several 1000 people will "only" get a computer game as their "main" present 🙄

They cost about £40 max. Most are £20-30! Of course I realise a lot of people are very much struggling but come on, £20/30/40?? Total?

GladioliandSweetPeas · 07/12/2023 20:42

@ManchesterLu This is a PUBLIC forum. I merely asked a very simple question!
Computer games cost about £20-40. I too am struggling to make ends meet, as a disabled single parent. Which is why I save small amounts all year for Christmas. But as I said, I only asked a question. You have presumed what I meant, all by yourself.

@springbabydays

  1. As above, this is a public forum. Don't post if you refuse to accept simple questions.
  2. You stated that there was nothing else tangible under the tree. I simply asked you to clarify, I wasn't abusive in any way.
