Burning mouth syndrome

Has anyone had this? Last week or so my tongue feels like I ate something too hot, and top of my mouth is a bit sensitive too plus a metallic taste, bit like blood but no bleeding and teeth are fine. Dr Google suggested this?

When j was a dental nurse this was a problem for a lot of our patients. I'd make an app with your dentist

I have a hygienist visit booked in about 10 days so will mention it then - also googled and seen acid reflux can cause it and I have that and thyroid so could be a combination of all these ( and getting old!)
Thanks

I get this when I eat gluten

I have it, another menopause symptom (along with tinnitus). I was seen by an oral consultant to rule out anything sinister and she told me about CBT to try deal with it. I didn’t go down that route, I manage it by chewing gum, sugar free of course. It’s bloody annoying.

I don't think it's food related and there's no whiteness on my tongue, but it does have some little crevices on the tip which I don't think we're there before and I've made everyone in the family compare tongues to check theirs! It is just annoying at the moment so I'll ask hygienist and go back on the omeprazole to keep the acid reflux away as I have been suffering from that a bit more, recently

This is how I felt at the start of Hand Foot and mouth. I thought I'd burnt my tongue at first. Took a good few days before I could see blisters.

Pixiedust1234 · 03/12/2023 20:12

I get this when my Vit B level is low or if I drink too many teas. I reduce my tea intake 😩 and take a Vitamin B tablet for three months. Then i'm fine until I start overdosing on tea again (usually when I'm overtired which could be a sign of low vitamins anyway).

Yes b12 can be linked to sore mouth.

also omeprazole can be linked to issues [[https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=omeprazole+b12&client=safari&sca_esv=587520431&hl=en-gb&ei=TO9sZZXmA7yN9u8P2O-M4Ag&oq=omeprazole+b12&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIg5vbWVwcmF6b2xlIGIxMjIFEAAYgAQyCxAAGIAEGIoFGJECMgUQABiABDILEAAYgAQYigUYkQIyBRAAGIAEMgUQABiABDIFEAAYgAQyBhAAGBYYHkj4FlDrB1jCEXABeAGQAQCYAVCgAfMBqgEBNLgBA8gBAPgBAcICChAAGEcY1gQYsAPCAg0QABiABBiKBRhDGLADwgIOEAAYgAQYigUYkQIYsQPCAggQABiABBixA-IDBBgAIEGIBgGQBhE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp www.google.co.uk/search?q=omeprazole+b12&client=safari&sca_esv=587520431&hl=en-gb&ei=TO9sZZXmA7yN9u8P2O-M4Ag&oq=omeprazole+b12&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIg5vbWVwcmF6b2xlIGIxMjIFEAAYgAQyCxAAGIAEGIoFGJECMgUQABiABDILEAAYgAQYigUYkQIyBRAAGIAEMgUQABiABDIFEAAYgAQyBhAAGBYYHkj4FlDrB1jCEXABeAGQAQCYAVCgAfMBqgEBNLgBA8gBAPgBAcICChAAGEcY1gQYsAPCAg0QABiABBiKBRhDGLADwgIOEAAYgAQYigUYkQIYsQPCAggQABiABBixA-IDBBgAIEGIBgGQBhE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp

Interesting, thanks all - I don't have any other symptoms of B12 deficiency, but think I might get some just in case, and I haven't taken omeprazole for ages- I only took it for a couple of weeks about 2-3 months ago, to see if it made any difference (which it did) but I generally don't like taking medicine unless I really need to.
