I'm just drinking my cuppa in my kitchen spot. The washer's on already and I'm about to wash the few pots there are before I head up to get dressed and see if the girls are getting up.

I'm off into town to try and do the majority of my Christmas shopping for them, and they wanted to go as well - but not with me. They were originally heading to Sheffield but I don't want them going too far in case of snow. A nice lunch somewhere will be involved...not sure where yet.

There are Vinted parcels to send on the way, and I have one to pick up on the way back.

Later on we'll pop up some more Christmas decorations. The tree went up last night. It's a tad taller and wider than I thought it was in the Range, but never mind 🤣 It makes me smile every time I look at it! I'll also pop a couple more things on Vinted and decide which craft project to carry on.

Both girls have homework so I'll suggest we have an hour sat together while the Advent candle burns. If not, I'll craft away by myself.

What about all of you? 🎄

Morning all! I'm on day 8 of The Cold From Hell, so am half-arsing the housework and having plenty of sit downs along the way this morning.

DH walked the dog and is helping DS practice for a music exam which is on Monday, and the dog is snoozing by the nearest available heat source.

Fish cakes for dinner later on, then we plan to watch Arthur Christmas which has become our annual tradition once December rolls round. Lots of snow here, so mainly trying to stay warm!

Afternoon lucysmam & everyone - bit late to the party! I’m clock watching again as starting work at 2. The day just seems to disappear! Haven’t really done much except empty & load the dishwasher & put yet another load of washing on. DH attempted to sort DD14’s room whilst she’s away & found a pile of dirty clothes. Beautiful day here - I should have gone for a walk as I’m totally unfit & determined to change that! I had a gynae appt last week & was horrified to be told my BMI is 45! Need to lose about 5 stone. DH is going upcountry this evening to collect DD so we’re sorting ourselves out for tea. I’m defrosting a chicken tikka with pilau rice for me. Will catch up with “ All Creatures Great & Small” which I love but DH isn’t keen on.

Quiet morning here helping DS with his homework while DD does gymnastics. Tree up this afternoon then we’re off into town to see the Christmas lights being switched on. Pizzas for tea, and I hope DP’s bringing some mulled wine home…🍷

Both kids at drama club this morning so have been doing some housework, DH has been mopping and vacuuming.

Currently eating mince pies with Morrisons Millionaire's Cream (OMG).

Dcat is driving me insane as she appears to think that despite having been fed this morning and had treats, she is imminently about to waste away and hence is meowing more and more urgently before she fades into nothingness due to my clear neglect.

Nothing planned this afternoon. Mainly refereeing the kids squabbling then DS1 and DH will be watching the football this evening whilst I retire to read my book once DS2 is in bed.

Need to find a shepherd costume by Monday but I've shunted that job to tomorrow. It's too cold to go out and I'm comfy in my onesie.

A very slow day as I’m getting over Covid, and I’m pregnant so I’m exhausted anyway! Sitting next to the Christmas tree with my two cats, listening to my son and partner play upstairs. Think I’ll wrap my sons’ presents later on as he keeps trying to open the cupboard I’ve hidden them in! Nesting is making me want to haul the tumble dryer out and tidy the mountain of crap that’s ended up at the back of its wee cupboard, but sitting on the sofa all day would probably be a better idea!

@HappiestSleeping we're going to Olhos D'agua in the Algarve. A lovely quiet seaside town with everything we need. Just got a few months to wait now! Enjoy your trip!

mondaytosunday · 02/12/2023 12:53

Well plan was to get the tree .... that has been pushed til tomorrow.
So I've popped out to shops, mailed a few Xmas cards and am sitting here writing a few more. I'll get some lights up - I made a wreath yesterday already on the door. Feel it's fine now to go on full on Christmas mode!

wineandmaltesershappyme · 02/12/2023 12:53

It's tree day!!!!! 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Outside tree was done on Thursday.
Tree 1 in the sitting room is finished, tree 2 is 7ft so just finished constructing it, lights after some lunch then will decorate this afternoon.
Fresh nail wraps this evening.

Swimming and library done (we all got some new books out so it was a successful trip)

Lunch done, fairy cakes in the oven.

I've dragged out all the Xmas Dec's so I can sort them out (tree's to go up next weekend) but I've put out all the candles, wooden room decorations and the festive twigs! Oh and the wreath is on the front door.

Debating whether to actually go out again today. Its dry and bright here but its very cold. I may take kids for a hot chocolate and a walk round the local shopping centre later as the Christmas tree is up and all the lights etc are now on. We missed the turning on ceremony last night 🫣

Or else we may all get into clean PJ's and have an afternoon in. We have plans tomorrow so won't get much downtime this weekend.

No idea about dinner, thinking something easy like fajitas.

Sounds like a lovely day @Crunchymum what books did you get?

Crunchymum · 02/12/2023 17:24

Nothing particularly highbrow or cultured @Decafflatteplease

The 4th Hunger Games for the 11yo, a Funny Bones for the 5yo, a Pamela Butchart one for the 8yo and a Vince Flynn book for me. Sorted 😀

Afternoon (just!) lucysmam & everyone. It’s my birthday today. Haven’t done much so far. Very touched by the number of messages I’m getting on Facebook, even from people I haven’t seen in years. The post has been quite sparse this week so not many cards as yet. I had a lovely toasted bagel with smoked salmon & Philadelphia for brekkie & will have Chinese delivered this evening. Going out later to choose a posh watch from DH & to buy our Christmas tree. I had hoped to blitz the lounge before it’s put up but that hasn’t happened. When I put my cards on the piano, I noticed you could write your name in the dust!!
