Can I just show you my sandwich?

The sandwich that is the single thing getting me through a busy work morning when it's minging outside:

Tiger bloomer
Mayo on one side
Cranberry sauce on t'other
Roast chicken
Glazed gammon
Homemade sage and onion stuffing
Blobs of gravy

😍

Can I just show you my sandwich?

That's cruel I'm at work and starving 😋

AreolaGrande · 27/11/2023 12:17

Roasties would've been a fine addition but the pesky kids finished those off too.

Not worried about how I'm going to get it in my gob, have had bigger!

Don't see the point of a toastie unless the sandwich contains cheese tbh. And I think cheese on this one would be a step too far, even for me and my three sauce tendencies.

Lovely - but I'm not seeing enough cranberry!

I'm on a diet and having a cup of tea and a slice of fucking malt loaf. I'm absolutely fuming having seen that.

I'm sitting in my car shivering, having just been for a swim in a lake.
I really need a sandwich now.

@Ididntknowuntiliknew

swim? Well done you! I'm still not going in the shower because it's too bloody cold in here.😅. You need a hot roast beef sandwich with melty cheese on Vogel's bread & lots of hot tea!!

@ComeOnThenFanny

since when did 'diet' & 'malt loaf' go together??

you'd probably be better off with the sandwich! I'm sure @AreolaGrande would share!!

TheseLegsDefinitelyUsedToBeLonger · 27/11/2023 12:29

YABU. My ham and mayo sandwich is now looking rather sorry for itself, even on seedy bread... as other posters have said, where's mine?! 😁

Sprouts have never improved anything, ever.

@SchadenfreudeIstMeinMittelname

ROASTED sprouts improve everything!!

im going to try some in my air fryer today.

Haha, one measly slice of malt loaf ain't breaking the calorie bank!
It's not really a diet, just trying not to eat too much crap!
But by god, I need that sandwich!

It has the next best thing for a toastie. Mayonnaise. Chicken and mayo and tuna & mayo are right up there.

But cheese is the winner I agree.

Does the trial include how many rounds of leftover sarnies you can have?

mummydoris2006 · 27/11/2023 12:41

That sandwich with a side of hot crispy roasties would be absolute heaven

I am utterly impressed that you had the motivation to make that on this crappy miserable day! I decided as I work in an office on my own I couldn't even be bothered to wash my hair this morning just for it to get wet again all over in the rain😆

pontipinemum · 27/11/2023 12:53

Looks fab! I often get something similar when I get a deli sandwich but no gravy add coleslaw (small amount) and grated cheese.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 27/11/2023 12:55

Oh I'm starving OP and I'd devour that now!! Was the gravy hot?! I make my (christmas) sandwich exactly the same but I add the gravy last (and just before I eat it) piping hot.

Hope you enjoyed every bite!

Genius!
Our airfryer tends to be used for nothing but oven chips, but roasted sprouts sounds awesome!

I love sprouts.

MinnieMountain · 27/11/2023 14:38

Looks amazing OP.
@Ididntknowuntiliknew I thought I was brave swimming in the lido today. You win.

JenaWren · 27/11/2023 14:40

I'm vegetarian and even I'm tempted. It looks bloody lush...

Igmum · 27/11/2023 14:42

Mmmmm 😋😋

A trial run Christmas dinner? GENIUS idea! Why have i never done this. No wonder you invent brilliant sandwiches

coxesorangepippin · 27/11/2023 14:43

You can eat absolutely ANY food you want if you are dieting. You just need to keep your incoming calories lower than your outgoing calories. It really is quite simple.

I ate chocolate, crisps, icecream, curry, biscuits, sweets and literally anything I wanted whilst I was losing weight, it made it bearable and sustainable.

Thank you! I've gone down two dress sizes since September, I think I'm doing ok!

WinteryWonderland · 27/11/2023 22:52

I'm 5 years vegetarian and that sandwich looked so insane it even made me feel hungry 😂

Wow, well done!

I lost 3 stone eating whatever I wanted but just eating less, none of this you can't have this or you can't have that nonsense. A calorie is a calorie....

I have kept it off following the same principle.
