Film stars who give you the ick

Just watched The Holiday on tv. Love a bit of a cheesy romcom but why oh why did they cast Jack Black?! No chemistry with Kate winslet. There's something about him that just gives me the ick. I can't put my finger on it. I think he tries to hard to be cute. But he's not cute.

Who is your ick?

Right from childhood, always loathed the sight of Kirk Douglas, with his oaken face and weird dimple. I just knew he was an awful person, way before all the rape stuff was known.
His son has the same harsh vibe.
Agree about Robin Williams, if I had seen him in the flesh, I would have backed away quickly. Such a strange shaped head, really manic and annoying - and deeply sinister.
And Jim Carey, so scary and weird, his smile looks like a snarl.
Nicholas Cage just looks peculiar and sweaty.

Liv999 · 27/11/2023 04:09

Jack Nicholson, creepy as fuck.

Wife2b · 27/11/2023 04:27

Owen Wilson

SO many!

Nicholas Cage, Leonardo Di Caprio, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, David Walliams obviously, Matt Smith totally (thought it was just me), Dominic West (why does anyone cast him in anything romantic or sexy, he's just 🤑), Ben Affleck (he just looks like a lumpen bully, no charm whatsoever and an underlying threatening air).

Those are the ones I've seen already up here but would add Anthony Hopkins (even before Silence of the Lambs) and Sean Bean, who also looks like he'd smack you in the mouth and hasn't washed for a while.

iloveeverykindofcat · 27/11/2023 05:01

Eddie Redmayne. Its totally irrational, there's no reason for it and I'm sure he's a perfectly nice man. But he makes my skin crawl! Its so intense I almost feel bad about it. Perhaps he subconsciously reminds me of someone terrible.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 27/11/2023 05:07

Adam Sandler.

LemonTreeSkies · 27/11/2023 05:13

Andylion · 27/11/2023 00:00

Timothée Chalamet. Just, no.

Oh but that Chanel advert! I’m 15 all over again! (I’m in my 50s)

Yoyoban · 27/11/2023 05:14

Agree with Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson, James Franco and Vince Vaughn. Can't watch anything with them in.

Also Adam Devine

On the other hand quite like Brad Pitt, and Tom Cruise (as an actor obviously he's a weirdo irl) and think Philip Seymour Hoffman was an excellent actor - yes he often played horrible characters but imo that was a mark of how good he was. Oh also Cillian Murphy

Some others I actually think are ok as actors but make my skin crawl when they're themselves being interviewed - Martin Freeman, James McAvoy and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Yoyoban · 27/11/2023 05:18

Oh can't believe I forgot Mark Wahlberg and Chris Pratt - both serious ick

LaurieStrode · 27/11/2023 05:22

Totally agree about Adam Sandler. How that juvenile weirdo got to beca star is beyond me.

Tom Hanks makes my skin crawl.

DoYouAgree · 27/11/2023 05:28

Brendan Fraser - thought he'd gone from out screens then did that film recently 'The Whale' and was everywhere again. Won't watch anything with him in the ice factor is so strong.

Also Matthew Broderick 🤢

Lentilweaver · 27/11/2023 05:30

Actually Adam Sandler wins. Shit actor who picks shit movies, in addition to being icky.

EnjoythemoneyJane · 27/11/2023 05:51

EtiennePalmiere · 27/11/2023 00:29

I hadn't heard that about Jim Carrey so looked it up, yikes

https://www.nickiswift.com/830944/the-shady-side-of-jim-carrey/

Dead Behind the Eyes Carrey has for years given me much more than the ick.

In an an industry chock full of malignant narcissists, it’s really something to stand head and shoulders above the rest.

There’s something frighteningly ‘off’ about him.

Mikimoto · 27/11/2023 05:59

Another +1 for Tom Hanks.
Literally go out of my way to avoid is creepy face in anything.

HuckleberryBlackcurrant · 27/11/2023 06:03

@villamariavintrapp

Agreed! Something about Priyanka Chopra is sooo irritating.

silverxylophone · 27/11/2023 06:06

Cate Blanchett. So incredibly pleased with herself.

HuckleberryBlackcurrant · 27/11/2023 06:10

Kiera Knightley. So smug, bad actress, constantly jutting out her jaw.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/11/2023 06:15

EnoughIsay · 27/11/2023 03:22

Fassbender and Bradley Cooper borrow a human suit from time to time.

They are actually aliens - of the worst kind.

Can you see people’s souls? Russell Brand also isn’t human.

TropDrôle · 27/11/2023 06:19

How have we got to page 8 without someone saying Christian Bale 🫢

wuvoobee · 27/11/2023 06:24

Loved Jack Black in The Holiday
Love Tom Hanks
Love David Tennant
Loved Russell Crowe in Master & Commander

So I seem to be at odds with most of you here!

However, Bruce Willis I find annoying. Especially in that series "Moonlighting" way back. Smarmy, smart-alecky, annoying smile...argh!

PurpleFlower1983 · 27/11/2023 06:24

Clive Owen and Nicolas Cage for no reason whatsoever.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 27/11/2023 06:24

I saw interviews with Johnny Depp and Kevin Spacey both of which made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. And then came the revelations about both of them. But I never got it from their acting iyswim.

wuvoobee · 27/11/2023 06:26

Only here and to my DH can I admit I have enjoyed some Adam Sandler movies and laughed out loud at them.

There, I've said it 😊

isthismylifenow · 27/11/2023 06:27

Rowan Atkinson is so annoying. I don't know how anyone can even watch the Bean nonsense.

Johnny Depp. Euwww he always looks like he needs a good scrub. I look at him and the smell of sweaty arse and Bo pops into my head. Similar thoughts about Jason Mamoa.

Tom Hiddelston - so annoying and when he constantly does those same dance moves, he looks about 12 and the show off at a party.

Christopher Walken I do quite like, but he carries himself a bit strangely. He's all arms and legs and seems uncomfortable in his body. But his good acting makes up for his odd stance.

Cameron Diaz oh just no. With the annoying mouth and teeth and I'm such a nice girl look at me attitude.

Matthew McConaughey reminds me of sweat. Euww.
