What would you hope to be eating?
Looking for inspiration.

Honestly, just more Christmas dinner.

I have more Christmas dinner for breakfast lunch and tea for as many days after Christmas as I can get away with it.

ManchesterLu · 19/11/2023 17:50

I expect to eat nothing but Christmas leftovers and chocolate until approximately mid March, so that.

TheChosenTwo · 19/11/2023 17:50

A bacon, brie and chutney panini/toasted sandwich, something stodgy to soak up any hangover. Probably several of them 😂
I would turn down just the bog standard bacon roll either.
Or really good pastries, pain au chocolat and those nice little apple ones.

AdoraFruitcake · 19/11/2023 17:56

I’d appreciate some leftovers - ham, pigs in blankets, bubble & squeak - and the addition of eggs & crispy bacon, with lots of warm, crusty bread.

Maybe a big fruit salad. Plenty of coffee and orange juice. Optional bubbly or champagne cocktails for the drinkers.

EversoDisorganised · 19/11/2023 17:58

Agree with no Christmas Dinner leftovers, I don't want them for tea later either if I'm really honest.

Brunch - bacon sandwiches, croissants/pastries, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, fresh juices, tea and coffee.

GuitarGeorgina · 19/11/2023 18:05

I’d be happy with leftovers or anything that someone else had prepared.

Butsheisnot · 19/11/2023 18:07

I'd be hoping for lunch as I hate the concept of brunch - too late for breakfast pangs, too early for lunch so I end up hungry at about 3pm again and eating lunch!

But that's not your question. I'd go for smoked salmon, bagels, fresh cucumber salad, bucks fizz/OJ.

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 19/11/2023 18:18

We regularly have 12-15 for New Year’s Day brunch. I am lazy and repeat the same most years.

Pancakes
Mixed berry compote
Blueberries
Blackberries
Warm dark red cherries
Bananas
Selection of yoghurt- natural, alpro plain and coconut
Nutella/Notella
Honey
Syrup
Butter

Fruit juices
Mimosas
Tea
Coffee

ThreeRingCircus · 19/11/2023 18:18

I would do:

Tea/coffee/orange juice/Bucks Fizz

Bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs
Toasted muffins and bagels
Smoked salmon and cream cheese
Fresh pastries
Individual bowls of yoghurt, berries and granola

So everyone could help themselves and have as much or as little as they like.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 19/11/2023 18:25

Depends how many you're catering for, but I'd probably go for something along the lines of a continental breakfast as suggested by @SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything Easy to have it all laid out before people arrive & no cooking required, just a bit of washing up afterwards. Most people will be eating leftovers for the next week, so something a bit different will make it a bit more special.

grayhairdontcare · 19/11/2023 18:27

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have 20 coming for brunch on Boxing Day.
It's the only time we can see each other over the Christmas holidays.
So I'm going to do.

Tea
Coffee
Juice
Buck's Fizz

Yoghurt
Berries
Granola
Honey

Pastries
Pancakes
French toast

Bacon
Smoked salmon
Scrambled egg
Bagels
Rolls

Id do a combination of

Ready to bake pastries
Piggies in blankets
Leftover gammon
Scrambled eggs
Some nice toast, or a nice loaf cut into slices
Some nice grilled tomatoes
Maybe baked beans (for people who don't like tomatoes)
Granola and yoghurt
Maybe a fruit salad/platter
Oh and either hash browns or bubble and squeak.

Juices, coffee, fizz

Cantbeardarknights · 19/11/2023 18:33

Smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, cream cheese bagels, pastries, fresh fruit, granola. Tea coffee and fresh juices

Mumaway · 19/11/2023 18:35

Well your snobbery means you're missing out. Brunch is the best meal, as anything goes really, and it's acceptable to crack open the fizz

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/11/2023 18:40

Left over Christmas dinner please. It's so much nicer without the Christmas Day pressure.

Bellyblueboy · 19/11/2023 19:06

Bucks fizz

bacon rolls

smoked salmon and cream cheese

cinnamon rolls

danish selection

bagels

french toast

strawberries

CantFindTheBeat · 19/11/2023 19:07

What time are they arriving and what time do you hope they'll leave, OP?

rockingbird · 19/11/2023 19:10

Leftovers and cold meats, best day! Oh and pickles .. lots of pickles 😆

grayhairdontcare · 19/11/2023 19:34

@CantFindTheBeat they are arriving between 1030 and 11. They will all be gone by 2

OP posts:
LouLou198 · 19/11/2023 19:58

Croissants and other pastries, eggs, avocado, smoked salmon, sour dough toasted. Fresh orange juice. Think I might do this now!

CantFindTheBeat · 19/11/2023 20:05

That is so civilised!

How did it get arranged? (Maybe going to steal your idea!)

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 19/11/2023 20:13

Chocolate chip pancakes with chopped apples and homemade cinnamon butter.

grayhairdontcare · 19/11/2023 20:19

@CantFindTheBeat a couple of people are working Christmas Day and a few others have family commitments.
So I had arranged to do brunch originally for 4 on Boxing Day as they are then travelling to see people. Then it's just evolved and as everyone has plans or work later in the day, it's working out as a good plan

DiscoBeat · 19/11/2023 20:26

We've usually got a house full on boxing day and our go-to is scrambled eggs, home made waffles, crispy bacon, blueberries, bananas, maple syrup and Greek yogurt - something for everyone. And orange juice and fizz, of course!

Citrusandginger · 19/11/2023 20:31

That sounds lovely. I really like leftovers on Boxing Day - but not for brunch thanks. Envy fruit & pastries sound fine.
