Someone give me a kick up the bum to go clean the bathroom

Exactly that really. Need a kick up the bum. I made the mistake of curling up in bed mooching around on my phone and listening to the radio after lunch.

Perfect opportunity to get stuck into the giving the bathroom a much needed clean without being interrupted. DH is out kayaking. DS has taken over the living room playing FIFA. Zero motivation.

I'm putting my bathroom off too. AND the ironing. And the sorting out. I've been procrastinating so much this weekend that I've even been to IKEA.

In fairness I am just knackered, I've been ill and rundown for 2 weeks really and awake coughing the last few nights, so only waking up at like 9.30am. 9.30 used to be my cut off for getting back upstairs after breakfast to shower and get dressed and start cleaning and tidying. These days it's morphed into the time that I'm waking up. THen I like a nice lazy read of the news in bed, then a v late breakfast. By that time it's time for another tea, then I finally go in the shower after 12pm. etc etc. This time of year when it gets dark earlier it's so easy to slip into "it's not worth starting anything now it's already going dark." 😳

Put a timer on for ten minutes and do a mini blitz.

Done. Clean sheets back on the bed too. I hate every single second of housework.

I recently read a motivational type book called Atomic Habits. Am using it to try and get me to do things I don't want to do but will be good. It goes on and on about the way you frame the task in your mind so you don't say 'clean the bathroom' you say 'I will go into the bathroom, spray everything down with spray and leave'. The aim (i think) is that it tricks your brain into thinking ' cleaning the whole room is a big task, spraying is little task, I can do a little task', then apparently if you spray your mind thinks, 'may as well wipe I suppose'....

I tried listening to some cleaning podcasts to motivate me but they all lost me at put the dishes in the dishwasher 😭 I'd kill for a dishwasher.

Yeah I get what you mean but it just doesn't get done if I don't do it. He does the kitchen and other chores but seems to be allergic to cleaning the bathrooms 🙄

Never so thankful to have my lovely cleaner! But she’s off now for 2 weeks 😭 3 bathrooms to clean, dd can do hers, I’ll do one and dh will do the other. Great times 😂
I absolutely resent every single second of my life spent doing mindless shit like housework although I do it daily as I hate dirty/mess. Don’t live in a showhome, you can definitely see people live here! But everyone does pull their weight (I do do the majority but it’s not all on me, I’d be even more resentful if that were the case).

I use this cillit bang bathroom mousse for the bath which makes that job easier. That has to sit for 10 minutes so I do the rest whilst that's working its magic, and then wipe off the worst bits in the bath, rinse with the shower and it's done. Makes my most hated job about a 1000 times easier!
