Someone give me a kick up the bum to go clean the bathroom

Exactly that really. Need a kick up the bum. I made the mistake of curling up in bed mooching around on my phone and listening to the radio after lunch.

Perfect opportunity to get stuck into the giving the bathroom a much needed clean without being interrupted. DH is out kayaking. DS has taken over the living room playing FIFA. Zero motivation.

My bathroom needs doing but I’m putting it off. I’ve been taking advantage of the dry weather to be in the garden today. Just sat down for a cuppa then a quick run to the supermarket.

Anyone else prefer to clean in daylight hours??

Today we've knocked a fireplace out which turned out to be full of soot and 5 vertical feet of birds nest plus a mummified bird (hence me needing the shower) AND put up 24 pieces of architrave which all needed bevelling ....

and i'd still rather do all that again than clean a bathroom 😂 What is it that's soooo off putting about it?!

I've just done mine this morning. It is gleaming like an operating theatre. I did that think with the bleach on loo roll to get the black mould off the mastic.

AIBU to send my family to the leisure centre to shower?

I need to join. I'm embarrassed to say when it was last done. Two toddlers and both of us working full time. No energy for it.

But we also have a dog....hair everywhere. I'm actually scrolling mumsnet sat in the kitchen where I had been gathering the relevant tools to clean.....

To be honest my leisure time is the reason I've gone off track with the chores this week. Went swimming with friends twice during the week in the evening. Another night being taxi driver for my boy to his football.

Go clean the bathroom.

(nope, no sympathy from me. My husband shaves exclusively AFTER i clean the bathroom, leaving shavings all over the lovely clean sink)

I'm wondering if stumbling on this thread is meant to give me a kick up the bum or to reassure me others are also doing the same thing by putting it off...

I think sending them to shower at the leisure centre is perfectly reasonable 😁👍

I need to clean mine as well but I really don't want to 😭

I've been really struggling lately and the housework has gone seriously downhill.
I did manage to have a good clean and tidy downstairs yesterday which feels good now, but today I need to go upstairs.

Maybe we can do it together and report back when it's done.

Right I'm getting up. Gonna go downstairs and make a cuppa and get cracking 👍 will clean the downstairs loo whilst the kettle is boiling 👍

Mine was absolutely rotten this morning. Took the opportunity to do it while DH tooled DD to soft play.

I bloody hate cleaning the bathroom. I don’t know how to clean properly I think. Why is there so much dust?? Why does it all pill and leave chunks, I always forget the bucket to stick the used clothes in, or step in a wet patch. HATE IT! But now it’s sparkly and smelling nice and I don’t have to worry what DD touches in there 😂

Why is cleaning the bathroom your job when the two males in the house get to do their own thing? I recognise that your son is a bit young yet but I think the role modelling about domestication is all wrong.

I briefly wondered if I could give my kids crisps for tea yesterday after I'd spent ages cleaning the kitchen 😆🤣

Ok, the downstairs loo has been attacked ✔️👍 will finish off after my cuppa.

Eeeew... Your bathroom really stinks! Go and clean it quickly before it gets any worse. Imagine feeling sick and having to lean over that toilet!

Motivated by this thread I have cleaned half my bathroom. Iam having a rest for a bit so the extractor fan can take away the chemical smell that makes my eyes water.

Emily’s to do list:

• teach ten year old how to make a good cuppa (high priority!)
• scroll for a good podcast (recommend: All Killa No Filla, Sinisterhood, The Creep Dive, Casefile, Tom Brown’s Body, The Missing or Ghost Story)
• scrub a dub that tub (set a timer and get it all done in 15!)
• wash hands very well and climb back into bed
• 🥱

In all fairness, I spent my morning doing a load of laundry, cleaned the kitchen then went out for a walk (took my lunch to eat "out"). I was going to do some gardening but it started raining so had a power nap instead.

And now I'm having a power sit.

I'll crack on after this cup of tea.
