Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The washer's on already and I washed half of last night's pots while the kettle boiled. I'll have a tidy round shortly.

We're off for a stomp round a local lake today. Dd1 has an induction for her new job at 11, so she'll go to that and then head to meet us when she's done. She's just getting sorted now.

Dd2's having a rough time mentally atm, so I'm hoping the fresh air & open space might give her the space to just talk. Hopefully the weather won't get any worse - I don't mind wandering in grey & drizzley weather, I don't want to get soaked though!

Pizzas for tea tonight then I have a couple of crafty things for school I really need to crack on with finishing! There are lots of peg people sat on my kitchen table atm, needing their features adding.

Probably a fairly early night, as always. I want to do my nails though so might do that beforehand - if not, I'll do them in the day tomorrow.

What about all of you? 🙂

Taking the DC to the town fair later which will be ££££.

The house really needs some attention - mammoth tidying and cleaning but also decorating and some DIY as it's looking so old and tatty.

Unfortunately don't fancy any of it as I've had a cough and cold all week and my chest feels a bit sore today!

declutteringmymind · 18/11/2023 10:18

Good morning! Had a lazy lie in, had a lazy breakfast and now going to hit the housework. We have friends round later for drinks and takeaway so going to blitz the house.

I've signed up to TOMM on Patreon so going to do some of those.

LeonoraFlorence · 18/11/2023 10:20

Sounds like a lovely Saturday! Hope your DDs mood lifts.

DDs are at sport practise this morning with DH, toddler with me at home. We have been playing with some Xmas playdoh, house smells like candy canes. 😂
Later on I’m taking girls to a Christmas craft fayre, DH has some work to do so he will meet us after for dinner out at our favourite Italian. We will watch Strictly later on with BIL & SIL who are coming over with DNs.

alloalloallo · 18/11/2023 10:30

DD1 is home from uni for the weekend and is still asleep. She’s meeting up with her boyfriend later and is out-out tonight.

DD2 has been to do her pony and is now sorting her wardrobe out. She has probably dragged everything out and made a massive mess, will get overwhelmed, lose interest and I’ll have to go and help her, but I’m hiding from it for now.

DH is at work for a couple of hours this morning

I’m vegging on the couch with cheesy Christmas movies and my knitting. I’ve got a hair appointment later and plan on doing a bit of Christmas shopping afterwards before DH and I go out with friends tonight.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 18/11/2023 10:31

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I hope the fresh air helps to lift your dd. I've stripped the bed, washed the sheets and now the tumble dryer is on. All the other washing is in piles ready to go. I've been to Aldi for food and it's been put away. I'm about to empty then load the dishwasher before a cup of tea and a bun. Self bribery! Do a bit, eat a bit, rinse and repeat. The rest of the housework will follow suit. I might visit mum later. Enjoy your day

Wilkolampshade · 18/11/2023 10:39

Hiding upstairs from DH who's decided to finish rewiring the kitchen less than 24 hrs before he fucks off to Italy (work) for 3 weeks tommorrow having not got around to it for six months. The plan is while he's away I'll sand the floors in there and the newly knocked through sitting room so when he gets back we only have to fix skirting, doors and door frames throughout and fit the kitchen before Christmas.
Honestly? I could cry. I'll get it done, I always do. But I'm old now, mid fifties, and this physical work is getting a bit much for me now.

popandchoc · 18/11/2023 10:40

Myself and Dd2 have been swimming and she’s had her lesson . She is now in tap .

Dd1 has been poorly all week but went to school at back end . Think it’s worn her out so she’s resting and missing her class today.

I’m going to go in loft later and get my Christmas bedding down (dd’s already have theirs on) and might go to the range later as we have a new theme for our tree so need a few more new decorations. Won’t be put up for a couple more weeks though .

TooManySideEffects · 18/11/2023 10:43

Had a bit of a lie in as the cat (yes the cat) had us awake at silly o'clock with strange meowing and charging around the house. He is a rescue and has anxiety issues which show themselves in odd behaviour at times!

Anyway today involves sanding our bedroom floorboards (unearthed pretty decent boards when we ripped up the carpet we inherited.

Depending on how much if that I can bear, and the weather, I may do a bit of garden tidying. Never had a garden before so even clearing leaves and weeding make me really happy.

Dinner, who knows, but dh is here (he works shifts so not always around in the evening) but definitely some winter comfort food, a glass of red, strictly, and maybe a film.

I love Saturdays 😊

Kim82 · 18/11/2023 10:44

@SofiYol and @mamaduckbone i thought the film was good. Not as good as the original Hunger Games films but still watchable.

I thought the first part of it wasn’t great (the actual hunger games in the arena bit) but it got better after that. There was a lot of singing in it which I don’t think was needed but it was still a good watch.

Ds22 thought the same as me, dd19 loved it, dd16 absolutely broke her heart at one part of it and had to go and fix her face in the toilets but said she still enjoyed it.

Sillysoppysentimental · 18/11/2023 10:56

Morning.. enjoy your day.
I have the most awful fibromyalgia flare .. not helped by my osteoarthritis and previous broken hips and pelvis.. . I have managed to shower and put some washing in and empty dishwasher. My new super duper duvet arrived so changed the bedding and it's heaven so I'm staying here.. watching telly.. cuddling my 6 month old cat and doing some knitting ( a scarf snood).. keep my hands working..my sister will drop me a Chinese take away off tonight. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

OldTinHat · 18/11/2023 11:02

Morning @lucysmam and everyone!

Grey, wet and miserable weather here today.

I hope you all enjoy your day, walks and all (see what I did there?!).

afternoontea86 · 18/11/2023 11:06

Hi everyone!
DH treated us to a full English for breakfast this morning! He's been up since 7.30 with DS who is 3 so very grateful! Currently 37 weeks pregnant with baby no.3 so been spending a lot of time in bed. DH has taken the boys out for a long walk with the dogs (we live rurally) to give me a chance to sort some bits out for the baby. Picky lunch and then this evening we're hosting some friends + their children. The husbands will cook us a nice meal while the children play and the mothers relax and watch Strictly!

gormin · 18/11/2023 11:12

Morning all! DD(2) needs new shoes so we're doing a Clark's trip, which is never fun! I couldn't face trying to park in town on a wet Saturday so I walked in with the buggy and she's fallen asleep, so now I'm in Pret having a lovely calm coffee and pigs in blanket roll. Result! Ready meals and Strictly tonight. Hope you all have a lovely day!

frozendaisy · 18/11/2023 11:34

Plan is to fill a 140l bin of rubbish from this house.

Basic insulation in a small loft space

Then to an afternoon get drunk with a bunch of 70/80 year olds. They are such a bad influence, fine for them they can sleep all week if they want to! Actually we will probably just make sure they all get home ok.

Film, sausage dinner, usual school uniform laundry boring boring jobs.

Have spent most of the morning searching tinternet for December birthday and Christmas small things to open presents for teens.

frozendaisy · 18/11/2023 11:35

Oh and debating if I get myself a Yankee candle advent calendar, if so which one. This has already taken up far too much time already today I shall blame the rain

Justonedayatatime11 · 18/11/2023 11:36

Morning @lucysmam.
I very sadly lost one of my kittens late last night so all weekend plans have gone out the window. I'll mostly be cuddling on the sofa with the rest of his litter trying to not blame myself too much.
I hope your dd brightens up @lucysmam, fresh air is always a help x

dontforgetme · 18/11/2023 11:37

Good morning @lucysmam and all. Sorry to hear about your dd and hoping she feels better soon.

We are off to soft play soon, god help me but ds has been asking to go for a couple of weeks now. Maccies for the kids and we will have bbc good food chicken fajita pasta, it's amazing, one of my fave meals!

Any one have any recs for a family friendly film we can watch tonight? We don't do strictly in this house Grin

autumnangel · 18/11/2023 11:58

💐@Justonedayatatime11

Heading to Birmingham with mil and niece. We’re going to check out the big Primark and the Christmas markets, hopefully I’ll pick up a couple of presents. We’re staying overnight and I have a hotel room to myself. I’m super excited about buying some nice crisps and chocolate and chilling out by myself.

lucysmam · 18/11/2023 12:01

Aw @Justonedayatatime11 I'm gutted for you 💐 I've been enjoying seeing them when you share pics! Enjoy your snuggles with the rest of the litter 🥰

Good morning lucysmam and all,
Not the greatest weather, so looks like we're drying washing on the Sheila Maid over the wood burner today.
I've been looking for Xmas presents on the interweb that will post to the Netherlands, and now I'm doing a bit of mending while DH is in town shopping.
BLTs for brunch when he gets back.
I'm out this afternoon and evening with the pagans and taking a pizza and some Malbec with me.

devildeepbluesea · 18/11/2023 12:23

Hi everyone. I walked the dog early doors, then did some weights. Had the laundry to put away / next load on to drier, then DD and I had showers and popped to Home Bargs. She’s met her dad for lunch and will train it back later. Then we’re taking DDog for ball fun on the local common, watch the rugby up there and maybe have a pint after with my dad.
Tea was going to be cheesy meatball parmentier but I may have had a few pints too many to make that!! If so it’ll be spag vol…

Tonight1 · 18/11/2023 12:25

I'm sorry ❤️

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBabyYeahRight · 18/11/2023 12:34

Working till 5 I've got a blistering headache right at the back of my head. I can't tell if it's from sleeping awkward last night or if I've tied my hair up too tight. As soon as I'm home I'll be running a nice hot bath to see if that helps ease it. Need to finish off drying some washing too so I'll treat myself to the heating going on for couple of hours at the same time. Other than that I haven't got anything else planned other than deciding on whether or not to watch a Christmas film or snuggle in bed flicking between Mumsnet and YouTube

Crunchymum · 18/11/2023 12:37

Sorry to hear your DD is having a tough time.

I hope she's able to find her way through - your love and support will help.

Very wet here today but we made it to swimming and have picked up supplies. Have a party with DC2 later on, not looking forward to it at all as its a family party where we'll know nobody (didn't know this when I accepted the invitation and as it also encompasses a paid activity I didn't feel we could back out). I'm a complete introvert so this is my worst nightmare!!

Tomorrow I will not be speaking to another human being other than those i live with 😂
