so much coverage
i remember Sara Cox did a dance off - that was amazing
i dont really know what Vernon is doing, a marathon i gather
i hope he has trained

That was good. I am most definitely not a fan of Sara Cox herself but that was a fab thing to do.

I must admit I've been getting tired of the coverage of this but listening to Zoe Ball this morning, I'm getting quite emotional - the amount of money he has raised is fantastic. If he hits £4,000,000 he'll have raised almost 4 x that done by any of the other R2 challenges 👏

Yes well done Vernon. I was getting bored with the coverage but I haven't been able to stop listening this morning. Despite planning on using my day off to binge watch The Crown before my Netflix subscription ends!

I don't mind Vernon. I do mind the blanket coverage of CIN jeez it's non stop. Can't stand Scott Mills was never a fan of Steve Wright but think I preferred him

GimpMasksAndWagonWheels · 17/11/2023 10:26

If they didn't do the blanket coverage, they wouldn't have raised £3m+. It's the emotive music, pushing him to cry, pushing listeners to cry... that's what gets people to donate.

It really annoys me the way people still go on about his sexting 'episodes'. It's got to be what, nearly 20 years ago??). He did something incredibly silly, but the only people he hurt was his family. His wife has moved on from it (apparently so, although you never know what's behind closed doors), so why can't the media and the baying hounds?

the80sweregreat · 17/11/2023 10:38

His obviously very emotional and he did well
I thought it was nice that his dad thanked the whole team behind him and also that they had to do it too. His dad sounds very down to earth!
I know I couldn't do any of it myself !

PearlClutzsche · 17/11/2023 10:45

£4m+ raised. Fantastic!
Yes, it's true that the gushing coverage helps to encourage people to donate.

People ( on here) don't like Vernon Kay because he cheated ( sex texting or something I think ?)
Tess was on with Sara cox last night and it didn't sound like her at all! Was confused as to who was speaking at first!

I thought that too - she sounded much less Northern than she does on Strictly!

Gooseysgirl · 17/11/2023 14:03

£4m is a staggering amount of money to raise... I thought he'd be doing well to get to £2m! Fair play to him 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

ShadowCipher · 17/11/2023 17:11

Over 4 Million, omg

I think it’s fantastic.

samthebordercollie · 17/11/2023 21:02

Vernon has done brilliantly. Yes, he is a triathlete so has a good base but it's a fantastic achievement even so. I loved KB but listen to Vernon now and love him, he's funny, self deprecating and loves having a go at everything. Men and women love him, I think that's why he won I'm a celebrity and why he's raised so much money for Children in Need.
His show is the only one I listen to now on Radio 2.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 17/11/2023 21:46

I can't say I'm a fan but fair play to him. £5m is a staggering amount of money. I can't run the length of myself.

Houseplanter · 17/11/2023 22:04

I was a bit reluctant to like him after good old Ken, but I have found I do

This challenge was immense and fair play to him. It can't have been anything but gruelling.

I loved following this last week and am massively impressed.
