Where the hell do I find affordable spotty boys clothes for Friday

So my children’s school has asked us to dress our children in ‘spotty’ clothes for children in need day on Friday, aside from the offerings from 1* sellers on Etsy and spotty pudsey t shirts at £16.99 on Amazon where can I find reasonably priced unisex required clothing? Clothing that will unlikely ever to be worn again 🙄

But a load of sticky spots/dots & just stick them on?

BoohooWoohoo · 14/11/2023 18:45

If your son is unlikely to wear it again then buy some stickers and put them on a plain T-shirt (so the T-shirt can be worn again . If you have a T-shirt that will be grown out of soon, let him decorate it with some spots.

Fabric pens on an old t-shirt?

I was going to say the same about customising an old t-shirt with marker pens or spot stickers.

Pleaseletitbebedtime · 14/11/2023 18:46

Just send them in a bright coloured T shirt.

UpUpUpU · 14/11/2023 18:47

I bought a £3 yellow t shirt off Amazon and drew spots on it

YourNameGoesHere · 14/11/2023 18:47

Yep a plain t-shirt covered in sticker spots.

Plasmodesmata · 14/11/2023 18:47

I had the same problem. Cheap white supermarket t shirt, pack of coloured Sharpies.

JeezWhatNext · 14/11/2023 18:47

Just add spots to something. In all likelihood drawing them in face paint all over his face and hands will give the most joy.

mycatsanutter · 14/11/2023 18:47

I'm just using one of his cheap white PE t shirts and getting the sharpie pens out ( which I'm sure I did last year but of course I can't find it 😩)

TheresaCrowd · 14/11/2023 18:48

When my DS was at school I grabbed a white t.shirt, put it on the ironing board, drew around a 2 pence piece all over it and then coloured the circles in.

It actually only took about an hour.

ChainBastard · 14/11/2023 18:49

Kids at our school (well, parents) tend to customise. Stick on dots (those foam shapes work well), felt pen, fabric paint/pens.
No need at all to spend that sort of money, and the school won't expect you to!

margotrose · 14/11/2023 18:50

Just buy a cheap pack of round stickers and stick them on a t-shirt or jumper.

IdaPrentice · 14/11/2023 18:50

How ridiculous and environmentally unfriendly of the school! I would dress him in normal home clothes with a spotty neckerchief, if you can find one cheap.

HAF1119 · 14/11/2023 18:50

Also in agreement buy a cheap plain top and draw spots with felt tips or whatever

fruitpastille · 14/11/2023 18:50

Cut a few circles out of paper and use safety pins to attach if you don't want to buy anything. I've got pudsey ears that I just wear every year. I'm happy to donate money but I don't want merch that will end up in landfill or charity shops.

Stroopwaffels · 14/11/2023 18:51

I hate the "wear something spotty" nonsense which is OK for girls, hopeless for boys. Schools should nor be encouraging buying of disposable t-shirts or something to draw on with Sharpie and discard after one use.

Non-uniform day is fine, wear something spotty is not fine.

ForeverYellow · 14/11/2023 18:52

Last pudsy day I put newspaper on the table , gave Ds a marker and a cheap t shirt and he added spots . He loved it .

Kate53 · 14/11/2023 18:53

Thank you!! I’ve got spare PE t shirts for them so think will go with idea of trying to buy some coloured dot stickers or using daughters felts as a last resort, hate the idea of shelling out £40 for sets of clothes that will go in the bin after. Previous years it was just pjs or coloured clothing suggested so not so bad 😑

Felt pens on an old t shirt?

I'm really not a fan of buying something for one day, it's the kind of mindless consumption the planet could do without

Penguinsandpuffins · 14/11/2023 18:54

We’ve stuck stickers on a shirt before - of course they all came off. But really, what is the point? Why can’t schools just let them wear normal clothes and make a donation? That’s what we’ll do this year, I think.

Danascully2 · 14/11/2023 18:56

I had a spotty bow tie I used to put on mine. The school really won't care what they're wearing but yes I agree spotty clothes are harder for boys... And I also agree buying something for a day is daft. Depends on their ages and whether they will care if they just wear their own clothes...

Danascully2 · 14/11/2023 18:56

Or spotty pirate style bandana if you have any old spotty fabric?

StaunchMomma · 14/11/2023 19:06

T shirt, cut out circles from older clothes, super glue 👌

Official CIN clothes are expensive and pretty ugly anyway, usually.

MintJulia · 14/11/2023 19:09

I sewed spare buttons all over an old sweater for DS. It worked well. 🙂
