Where the hell do I find affordable spotty boys clothes for Friday

So my children’s school has asked us to dress our children in ‘spotty’ clothes for children in need day on Friday, aside from the offerings from 1* sellers on Etsy and spotty pudsey t shirts at £16.99 on Amazon where can I find reasonably priced unisex required clothing? Clothing that will unlikely ever to be worn again 🙄

I’ve just bought myself some new spotty socks, so ds will just wear a pair of those and then his usual clothes. Dd already has sporty leggings so that her sorted.

I sewed spare buttons all over an old sweater for DS. It worked well. 🙂

Oh I love that idea!

Just use an old PE t shirt and any kind of felt tip pen.

It's not like it needs to survive washing, just a day.

Or wear a bright t shirt under an old one they have out grown and cut circles out of the top one.

Paper hat and/or sash with spots coloured on?

justasmalltownmum · 14/11/2023 19:40

Mine wore a solar system Tshirt he already had.

Asda stock loads of official pudsey clothes and the prices are fairly low

mrsworsalgummidge · 14/11/2023 19:46

I always used sticky dots on their normal clothes!

LifeofBrienne · 14/11/2023 19:47

I came on this thread to make the suggestion everyone else has about stickers. But also, how ridiculous is it, if you think about it, that stripes are unisex, but spots are gendered, considered 'girly' and there are no boys clothes with spots?

Q2C4 · 14/11/2023 20:36

I lucked out & found a Pudsey t shirt in the right size in a local charity shop.

Fairly low is a relative term, especially if buying for several children, and for what good reason?
You’ve also got to get to an Asda or pay the delivery charge (most of the clothes online are sold out) and then after having spent all that money you are left with an outfit your child is not going to wear again.

Not to mention it was mainly t shirts which they’re going to be fairly chilly on at this time of year

Poundshop do (or certainly used to!) packs of stick on circles with smiley faces on in bright colours. Added those to t shirt before. I used to do face paints too. I liked dress up days, feel a bit sad he’s too old for it now he’s at secondary.

I went to the shop so no delivery, a t shirt cost £4 and I sized up so it’ll do for next year too. I was pretty happy with that as it is otherwise hard for boys and not sure I could get a plain T-shirt for less and then faff of colouring in it because he’s in the school nursery so definitely not allowed unsupervised access to felt tips. Thankfully it was also just for him as older sister already owns enough polks dot items to pull something together out of her existing wardrobe.

Wear it on top of another long sleeved tshirt? That’s my plan anyway!

Was literally posting about this earlier today

Sew/glue mini pom poms onto a t-shirt or felt pen.

Sodie · 14/11/2023 21:01

Our school have asked the same, we also had to sign up online for some pudsey run which involved your own fundraising page. Absolute crap, my son is 11 in year 6, he definitely won't wear a pudsey top and Fridays are half day!

BlueSoul · 14/11/2023 21:11

H&M have navy shirts with white dots for £7.99. We've gone for one of those as my son will be able to wear it for parties/on holiday.

Coffeesnob11 · 14/11/2023 21:12

There is no asda near our village nor in the town I commute from, nor in the centre of London and online was out of stock on asda and the pudsey store so I will have to make something but its extra work I could do without. Apparently today was odd socks day for anti bullying too. I find it impossible to keep up.

FLOWER1982 · 14/11/2023 21:14

Our school said spots or normal own clothes. They wouldn’t expect you to go and buy a whole new outfit.

spiderlight · 14/11/2023 21:20

I just used stick-on shiny sequin stickers on a plain t-shirt and jeans.

Watchinghockey · 14/11/2023 21:33

If you have any clothes or fabric that's outgrown/due for the bin then cut out 3 to 5 circles and attach them to a t-shirt with just a couple of tacking stitches at the top of each circle to keep it on. No need to stitch all the way round unless you want to. Just do the front of fhe top, no need to do the back as well. Carefully cut through the stitches afterwards and the t-shirt is back to normal and can be worn again. I hate sewing but I can do this. I refuse to buy clothing for school dress up unless I'll get good use out of it afterwards

YouAndMeAndThem · 14/11/2023 21:34

Kate53 · 14/11/2023 18:53

Thank you!! I’ve got spare PE t shirts for them so think will go with idea of trying to buy some coloured dot stickers or using daughters felts as a last resort, hate the idea of shelling out £40 for sets of clothes that will go in the bin after. Previous years it was just pjs or coloured clothing suggested so not so bad 😑

£40?!? No one is asking you to spend that!!! The school will not expect everyone to turn up in spotty clothes if they can't afford it or don't have any. You're way overthinking. Asda do a full Children in need range, £4 for a t-shirt. Or just put him in his normal clothes. It's not a rule, it's a suggestion.

Finteq · 14/11/2023 21:37

It depends on the size of the kids.

The T shirts are about £4-£8 each at Asda

apapuchi · 14/11/2023 21:42

Second the pom poms idea, I have done this every year for my son on a white or random t-shirt. He is autistic so usually pulls them all off throughout the day, nice holey t-shirt to come home in 🤭
