Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

lucysmam · 12/11/2023 08:30

I'm just eating breakfast, and waiting for my first cuppa to brew, in my kitchen spot. I have the window flung open & the washer's on already.

Yesterday was a total write off, thanks to what I thought was a hangover, but I feel much the same today, plus have a nothingy cough so maybe partly cold-related too. Dd1 slept much of yesterday too so I'm expecting her to be poorly.

Our plan yesterday was to head to the local shopping outlet and man-made lake for a stomp round there, followed by pizzas so we might do that today. I'll see what the girls say when they're up.

If not, I do need to nip to town for some paracetamols that are the right shape, some varnish and some more glacé cherries to make another Christmas cake.

First though, the house needs a good tidy round! So I'll get on with that for an hour & see if they get up in that time.

What about all of you? 🙂

This is a working weekend, I am sad to say, but I got a start on it yesterday so am pleased with myself for that.

I had a cup of tea in the garden, which is as fun as it’s going to get..

carameldecaflatte · 12/11/2023 09:31

I'm taking a tea break from the chaos of clearing out what's left of the kitchen ready for the kitchen fitters to come on Tuesday.

We'll be living in chaos for the next few weeks but I'm looking forward to cooking our Christmas dinner in a new oven in a kitchen that isn't falling apart!

gingercat02 · 12/11/2023 09:36

I'm still in bed, but I am about to get up. There are no real plans. DH has man flu, and DS has homework and GCSE revision to do. I shall just potter about I suspect.

medianewbie · 12/11/2023 09:36

I'm taking Ds to the National Museum of Computing to cheer him up. Then back into London to leave our poppies at the Cenotaph (late afternoon). Supper on the run. Train 200m home.

Sirfloofalot · 12/11/2023 09:41

I'm still in bed. Just brought a coffee back to bed with me. Everyone else in the house is out. BLISS. I'm taking DC to their hobby this afternoon (it's potentially outting, so I cannot say what the hobby is). That could take all afternoon. I desperately need to go into town and do laundry ready for the week and would like to go to the gym, but it looks like I'm not going to get to do any of that today. I'll get up around 10.15am but first it's time for a doze. I'm feeling very warm inside after my hot frothy coffee

Chelsea26 · 12/11/2023 09:43

I’m still in bed with DP - have had two coffees though. Will be getting up shortly.

He’s going to take the dog out and I’m going to do a quick blitz of bathrooms and kitchen and then we’re popping on a tube to Borough Market to eat loads of street food and drink beer! Celebrating him getting a roof on his garden room with a day off from DIY - it still has no doors but I think we can actually call it a room now at last!

Squaffle · 12/11/2023 09:53

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Raining heavily all morning here so DD and I are at soft play, it’s lovely and quiet so I have bagged a table, will get a coffee and scroll MN until she reappears wanting water and snacks. Have left DH in bed with a hangover after a party last night so we’ll pick him up some treats on our way home.

Then it’s food shopping delivery, finishing homework, board games, ironing work clothes and homemade lasagne for tea.

Have a lovely day all.

LadySpratt · 12/11/2023 09:56

Currently sitting in a coffee shop having a coffee and some toast with peanut butter, and killing time until my music lesson starts. Dropped off DS earlier for choir practice before a service (remembrance, not MOT-style). Unfortunately it’s absolutely freezing in here, even my nose is cold, so might have to have another hot drink.
This afternoon I’ll arrange the wardrobes and put away all the summer clothes.

Lentilweaver · 12/11/2023 10:02

It's Diwali for me. though we are low key. I got up early and made some sweets.Hair wash, a brief trip to the temple and then a massive Indian lunch out, and a long nap afterwards. Probably catch up on Survivor later. No exercise as I have been doing enough in the week.

RabbitsRock · 12/11/2023 10:03

Good morning lucysmam & everyone. Working at 12 so trying not to clock watch. I’d much rather start at 10 as we’re always awake early. It will very likely be crazy in the store today. The whole house is a tip but I’ll start with the kitchen once I’ve had breakfast. Nice easy tea of southern fried chicken steaks, chips & petitpois.

goldennavy · 12/11/2023 10:04

Coffee then a tidy round before sitting down to paint. A couple of commissions to finish which I have loved doing.
Dog walk.
Husband returning from overseas business trip later and then we are popping over to see family, then home for supper and wine. Already cooked the main just some pasta to cook freshly.
A happy day.
Hope everyone enjoys theirs.

lucysmam · 12/11/2023 10:11

Well, both girls are tired, so we've decided on a low-key day in and we'll head out next weekend when (hopefully!) the lurgy shifts!

I've tidied up most of the shit that was dumped about the place & got a second wash on now, so will probably get a shower soon then spend the rest of the day crafting. I have a small crochet figure to finish, and several sets of peg dolls on the go.

Also need to find a cheap as chips dolls-house-sized grand piano, and a mic & stand, for dd2's birthday cake.

Ive just finished eating a delicious warm Pain au Chocolate.

This morning I'm prepping shallots for Christmas pickled shallots. I'm also making a plum crumble while DH makes sausage casserole for lunch.

Just along the road from where I live there's a Mandir where today there are Diwali celebrations, so later this afternoon me and DH are going to pay a visit. Its a very beautiful, peaceful place and I'm looking forward to seeing it in Diwali. Sunday is my letter writing day so this evening I'll spend a couple of hours doing that while watching TV.

DilemmaDelilah · 12/11/2023 10:13

Good morning @lucysmam . I didn't manage to get to sleep until after 2am so I'm tired this morning (more tired than usual). I'm going to have a lazy morning in bed and then this afternoon I will make the cottage pie for supper, and probably put another wash on.
DH brought me my breakfast in bed and has now nipped to Sainsburys to get me the high juice squash I use to put my potassium supplements in, and he put a wash on before he left. I am very lucky.

Azandme · 12/11/2023 10:15

Morning all!

Today is a cultural mix here.

Currently watching India play cricket and drinking coffee. I'll be switching over to the Beeb just before 11am.

Then cooking for Diwali, ironing school uniform, cleaning, tidying, shopping and home for family dinner.

I'm tired just thinking about it!

Dontcallmescarface · 12/11/2023 10:16

Not much today. DD and her DP attended a friends wedding about 20 miles away so they are going to call in on their way back home( they live a 3.5 hour drive away). I haven't seen either of them since August and probably won't see them again until after Christmas due to clashing work schedules.

Lentilweaver · 12/11/2023 10:17

Oh, I forgot the cricket. I am not that keen on it, but should switch it on now.

piscofrisco · 12/11/2023 10:18

Morning @lucysmam and all. I am still in bed as I've got an ear infection and feel a bit rubbish. I've got the dogs on one side and dh on the other and we are very cosy.
Will go and pick up some Medicine this morning and then if I feel up to it I will go and watch dd1's old football team as they are playing in a round of the women's FA cup and my good friends daughter is the goalie.
Nice bit of lamb from the butchers for dinner.

ssd · 12/11/2023 10:21

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else here. I'm still in bed with the electric blanket on, dh snoring away and the birds chirping outside. Its cold and frosty this morning.

Lucysmam can i ask for pic from your kitchen spot? If it isn't too intrusive. Totally understand if you say no. But i always imagine you sitting in your kitchen looking out and i wonder what you are looking atSmile outside.

As you can tell im far too invested in your threadsGrin

ssd · 12/11/2023 10:22

Why has my post got gin bottles on it?? Those were meant to be smiles!!!

lucysmam · 12/11/2023 10:28

@ssd you have to ignore the junk! The wreath you can just see is a wip & the side is full of small appliances & my painting things 🙈

I quite often watch the robin flit about in where the tree looks like it has a hole not showing you the other side, it's piled up with pots. My spot is not very exciting in itself - it's just my preferred corner of the dining table. I keep notebook & pens & anything else important ish here. Kind of like my command centre 🤣 The girls know if they leave something here for school/college, I'll deal with it as I see it.

Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

Morning @lucysmam and all!

Cold and damp here today, currently 13 degrees in our house and that's with heating on! Think it's going to be on all day 😕

My older ones and DH are at a rememberance parade, me and the little ones are just pottering around this morning.

I'm about to pop a shepherd's pie base in the slow cooker for later on a proper winter warmer. will top with mash later on. And serve with kale and carrots, can't wait!

This afternoon will probably be homework and putting laundry away. I also need to change the beds if there's time.

Should be a lovely cosy day!

This evening is self care Sunday of course, I really want to finish my book so I can take it back to the library tomorrow 🙂

OldTinHat · 12/11/2023 10:32

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone!

Lovely, sunny day here for once. I've just heard the local cadets and a marching band go by at the end of the road on their way to the war memorial. That was lovely to hear.

Oh! And I can hear another band coming along now...must go and have a look...! Ttfn!

ssd · 12/11/2023 10:39

@lucysmam aww thats lovely, we can all imagine you sat there now Smile (that better be a smile and not another gin bottle!!)

ssd · 12/11/2023 10:39
