I love photo 8, the arty shot showing the rotten window frame. Because that’s sold it to me, of course.

Me too! I was just going to comment on the arty shot 😆

Isseywith3witchycats · 08/11/2023 17:04

i cant believe the prices in London that house needs at least another £100k to bring it to middle of the road basic liveable condition without any high end anything, you could buy four houses in our street in Halfax and still have £95k change and we live in a nice part of town, the house in Bedale ooh yes please that looks lovely and its a lovely part of the dales

Catsanfan · 08/11/2023 17:06

Wow, what a dump!

EmpressSoleil · 08/11/2023 17:07

I grew up in a house in a much cheaper area. My parents got divorced when I was a kid and my dad ended up with the house (long story). A couple of years later he met someone else, started spending less time there until he just never bothered going back. No one did any maintenance and at one point there were squatters in there. Someone ended up buying it, knocking it down and rebuilding. So that's one way something like this can happen.

I'm surprised it would happen in such an expensive area but when a house isn't lived in or maintained, it can fall apart surprisingly quickly.

Itsnotchristmasyet · 08/11/2023 17:08

The price!! 😳😳😳

Living in London is insane!

Sunnyshoeshine · 08/11/2023 17:08

TotalOverhaul · 08/11/2023 15:17

I live near both these houses. This one is absolutely not Wimbledon. I agree this one is much nicer but there's a reason its been on since before July and that's because i think its very punchily priced for our area (probably because IT ISNT WIMBLEDON 🤣).

penjil · 08/11/2023 17:11

Oh my! That poor house!

I feel sorry for the neighbours either side!

It looks like it been derelict since the late 70s, judging by the decor. 😱

Itsnotchristmasyet · 08/11/2023 17:11

JaninaDuszejko · 08/11/2023 15:20

London prices are insane. You could buy that house and live like a squatter or you could live in the north and live in this for the same price.

Wow that is beautiful!!

MathsIs · 08/11/2023 17:12

RantyAnty · 08/11/2023 15:47

More like a demolition project

Possibly, but it’s a mid-terrace. How much would it cost to shore up the party walls?

CesareBorgia · 08/11/2023 17:20

A builder could make a lot of money on it by turning it into a genuine blank canvas, ready to move into - it's a big house.

Hecate01 · 08/11/2023 17:28

Wow! You could buy the street where I live and still have change. Absolutely crazy how high London prices are, I don't know how anyone who's not on a combined income of under £100k can afford it.

MaidOfSteel · 08/11/2023 17:35

Not a blanket canvas. Not a project. More like a full rebuild.

I'm a North Yorkshire born & bred girl. I'll take the mansion in Bedale any day!

Loverofoxbowlakes · 08/11/2023 17:55

Seven. Hundred. GRAND?!?

Fuck me....

quivers · 08/11/2023 17:56

Oh my!

Nice garden..

ThatAlbinoCat · 08/11/2023 17:57

Bloody hell, it need setting fire to Grin

Sconehenge · 08/11/2023 18:00

Omg I snorted when I got to the bathroom photo 😂😂 even on London prices that is very overpriced considering the cost and effort to get it to a decent condition - it’s not like it’s a super special building that will command big bucks when done, just a
standard terrace.

BIossomtoes · 08/11/2023 18:03

mondaytosunday · 08/11/2023 15:12

That's a punchy price for the condition it's in. Nice area though (was just there an hour ago) but should be at least £100,000 cheaper.

I thought that too. £100k wouldn’t touch the sides of making that habitable.

PickAChew · 08/11/2023 18:05

It's ripe for someone to hire bodgers to do a superficial job of redeveloping it, laying grey carpet and renting it out for silly money as a "luxury" pad.

notprincehamlet · 08/11/2023 18:28

would you describe this house as a “blank canvas”?
I would if I were an estate agent.
Why is everything in the garden dead?

AutumnNamechange · 08/11/2023 19:01

Wow if those walls could talk! I would love to know the background to this, how did a once presumably decent family home end up like that when it could be like this one on the same road?

The bedroom wallpaper is very Overlook Hotel. I don't want to know what's under the water in that bath.

PastorCarrBonarra · 08/11/2023 19:18

It’s very sad. You wonder what’s happened there. I feel for the neighbours, too.

That would probably be the Agent Orange they used to get rid of all the overgrown foliage.

OP posts:
lurchermummy · 08/11/2023 19:48

Crikey - a bit of a doer upper! And that staircase seriously looks haunted.

Ecnerual · 08/11/2023 19:48

Definitely a wet canvas with that hole in the roof.

Cannot get my head around who can afford these prices.
