Would you ever spend a lot of money on a pen?

Not something I've particularly considered before but I've got a lovely new planner type thing and I'm being bugged for what I'd like for my birthday this month and I wondered if I'd actually quite like a posh pen!

The one I've seen that I like is a lot of money - silly money really, in the 100s. But it comes in at what this person usually would spend on me and it struck me as something I'd keep for life. Or until I lost it 😀

Anyway it got me thinking - would you just stick with any old thing or do you have a lovely pen?

I bought my children fancy pens on their graduations. Pen Heaven UK is my go to place for pens, journals etc.

Then you can get into inks (start with Diamine, then head to Robert Oster.)

Via Troublemaker and Vinta. And Wearingeul. Not made it to Robert Oster yet. There are far too many beautiful inks out there.

And I have to give a mention to some of the smaller pen makers, like Shibui North or Scribe Pens on Etsy, there are some very talented people out there making beautiful pens.

Vinta Maskara & The Maiden (Lakambini) are the most glorious complex inks.

Oster is fatal - once you try Fire & Ice you'll be addicted. My favourite is Australis Rose, it's limited edition & I keep thinking I need to stockpile!

Diamine is great for basics. Monaco Red, Ancient Copper & Rustic Brown are highlights.

The only range I struggle with (other than Ferris Wheel Press - you may as well try & write with water) is Herbin. Other than Rusty Anchor - which I persevere with, because it's like nothing else - I find Herbin inks so dry.

Lovely to talk inks!
