Our first lot are being delivered to my DP to deliver to the extended family at the weekend so the answer is tomorrow or Thursday! For various family medical reasons it's a lot earlier this year - usually I need them ready for the first weekend in December.

JamMakingWannaBe · 07/11/2023 20:06

Early December - so they can either be packed and posted off to family or so we have a pile of gifts to display "under the tree".
I tend to buy wrapping paper in the set of "design a Xmas card" that the kids do to raise funds for the PTA and that often isn't delivered until mid-December which I find annoying when I'm trying to be organised.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 07/11/2023 20:09

I love wrapping so set aside a day a couple of days before and enjoy doing them with a drink and snacks 😁

I've left it until 23rd for a few years but it's too much of a rush I find. Will start probably the week before for dc otherwise I'll forget what I have, enjoy it so will do it on a dc free afternoon with an xmas film and a drink.

Hoping to wrap family's earlier but need to buy them first. Hopefully first week of dec. I also like to have the xmas tree up when I do them and that doesn't go up until first weekend of dec. Maybe previous weekend this year as everyone putting theirs up earlier is rubbing off on me!

PinkRoses1245 · 07/11/2023 20:22

23 or 24 dec. mad anyone does anything Christmas related before December

WingingIt101 · 07/11/2023 20:53

I finished my shopping yesterday so am trying to decide whether to hold on and have a lovely festive day with Christmas films and a vat of slow cooker hot chocolate on the go (I'm using up accrued annual leave after returning from mat leave so have a few days off with no kids!!) or to just get on with it this week.

I think I'll wait and do one of the december days. Usually it's back breaking work on the living room floor in front of strictly / carting everything up and downstairs in a hushed rush but I'm determined to enjoy it this year!

MegaClutterSlut · 07/11/2023 22:05

Normally 1st of November when the Christmas music channels start so I can listen/watch them as I wrap. Have only wrapped 6 so far but intend to do a lot more on Friday

cardibach · 07/11/2023 22:10

I haven’t bought any yet…
When I’ve got them all and I’ve no choice, so Christmas Eve unless they have to be delivered somewhere earlier.

stargirl1701 · 07/11/2023 22:12

I do nothing until Advent.

Ponderingwindow · 07/11/2023 22:16

As soon as I have both paper and gifts. I set up a gift wrapping station in the corner of the living room so I can wrap gifts one or two at a time. Makes things so much easier.

Loubilou23 · 08/11/2023 11:24

I usually buy presents around 15th-20th December and wrap around the 21st-23rd.

Bigoldmachine · 08/11/2023 11:30

Noooo it has to be in December for me…. I do love wrapping presents and get a lot of joy out of it, but for full enjoyment the tree needs to be up. Preferably a Christmas film on, twinkly tree lights, a slab of Christmas cake and a (non alc) G&T = perfect wrapping conditions.

BaconAndAvocado · 08/11/2023 11:51

Usually mid-December.
I don’t find it too much of a chore.
Always wrap with a Christmas movie on, hot chocolate and a chunk of stollen to hand!

WimpiestMum · 08/11/2023 11:53

Christmas eve usually... That's usually also when I realise we are put of wrapping paper and decide to do the environmentally friendly thing of wrapping presents in magazine and news paper...

Onethingatatime23 · 08/11/2023 11:54

When I've got the tree up, usually first weekend of December.

Lottie4 · 08/11/2023 11:55

I haven't bought a thing yet, so obviously can't wrap anything. Will aim for as and when early December. Definitely don't want to leave it until 23rd/24th as working on 24th and want to focus on food shop, housework and dropping any presents off.

ConflictofInterest · 08/11/2023 12:01

I wrap as I buy them and then number them as I go. I also use different paper for different children and label them. I have a Christmas planner where I match the numbers to what's inside them in case I swap things round, as my kids all have December birthdays so I often swap things round as I buy other things.

Last year I thought it would be more fun to save all the wrapping for Christmas eve, like people talk about, nice drink, music etc, but it was a nightmare. It took hours and hours, everything was rushed and badly wrapped as I was trying to keep the kids busy downstairs without them seeing what I was doing. Not to mention the unexpected things that needed assembling or weird battery types. I'm going back to wrapping as I go and having the drink and music on Christmas Eve without the frantic wrapping ordeal this year.

I'm the same. I like to wrap in the living room near the tree; some Christmas tunes on, cup of tea and mince pie/Christmas cake and I'm in heaven.

I keep a list of what I've wrapped in which paper so I can retrieve any if necessary and try to discourage the cat from "helping", she always wants to get involved somehow and it's not easier with her "help". Grin

I also wrap stocking gifts in tissue paper to prolong the joy. (Not the "fillers" bits like a pack of chocolate things, the real presents). I can understand why others prefer to wrap as they buy, it makes sense if you don't like wrapping and/or view it as a chore. But for me, it would be near the top of the Best Bits of Christmas List (if I made one)...

mindutopia · 08/11/2023 12:15

Honestly? About 3 days before Christmas. 😂

WellDuh · 08/11/2023 12:40

Sending DP up to the attic this evening to bring the wrapping paper down! Only got my youngest DS to wrap for, older 2 get bank transfers of cash!

Bemyclementine · 08/11/2023 12:45

About 9pm christmas eve. Determined to do it earlier this year

EasternTennessee · 08/11/2023 12:48

Usually the first week of December, once the trees and decorations are up! 🎄

RedRiverShore4 · 08/11/2023 12:50

Usually about an hour before we are due to visit the recipients

SallyWD · 08/11/2023 12:50

As soon as I buy them in November or December.

SirenSays · 08/11/2023 12:52

Last time I wrapped early I wrote a list of what I had bought. Which I then lost and had to unwrap everything. Now all gifts are wrapped in the three days leading up to Christmas.
