For me, I would love to have a family someday.
I'm planning to conceive a baby next year!

To be a healthy weight at which I can enjoy choosing clothes instead of just buying what looks least rubbish. I am not hugely overweight but as Menopause hits I suddenly have a square shape and fat belly. I am also pre diabetic.

I have bought a second hand treadmill and am doing 1 hour a day just walking so far. I am going to be kind to myself as I have had an awful 5 years and feel this has contributed to generally poorer health.

Second is to have financial security and some savings. I can never seem to save anything.

I have gone back to work full time as DD's are older and although I miss they couple of afternoons where I got a bit of time the extra income is helping.

Good health, I follow doctor's advice, try to have a healthy lifestyle and avoid stress

How do you avoid stress? Genuine question. I've had a lot of health issues, including cancer, which I'm sure stress has contributed to. But my health issues also cause me stress so its a bit of a vicious circle. I know I need to prioritise this but not sure exactly how.

DominiqueBernard · 05/11/2023 03:11

It sounds childish, but I don’t read upsetting news e.g. about wars, paedophilia, etc. beyond the headlines. I try not to get into arguments and rather be Zen. I avoid doom merchant colleagues and acquaintances as much as possible. I don't send a lot of messages on my phone or get into big group chats other than for factual stuff (times for sports training) and I have all notifications turned off and phone on silent. At work I really try to keep a professional distance and to treat my work as such and not let it bleed into my thoughts or consciousness when not working. If I feel sad or angry or worried, I give myself a time limit for indulging that emotion. I try to rationalise fears. I try to think positively, and to spend time, energy and headspace on happy things that I like. Also try to be outdoors, have natural light, keep moving (I have never been a sitter.)

I also had cancer.

I've been very overweight for years, so much so it has affected my physical and mental health. 4 weeks ago I had weightloss surgery and it has literally changed my life already, I no longer take diebetes and blood pressure meds, sleep and mental health improved, and have lost 2.5 stones.

slightlybonkersmum · 05/11/2023 03:40

For my child to have an amazing future. Therefore I am working hard and saving for his future.

thecatsthecats · 05/11/2023 05:35

A million pounds.

Seriously though. Husband and I have always been great savers, but now we've taken on the goal of investing and generating more so that we can create a joint pot of £1.5m.

It's going well, though still a long way to go. The ideal will be reaching this in five years so we can both slash our hours to raise our son.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 05/11/2023 06:48

To get a giant dog.

For now I’m sending DH daily videos of Newfoundlands doing endearing things. Slowly slowly catchy monkey.

Good luck OP, I spent a few years having IVF to become an SMBC, sadly didn't work but i'm the only one I know (in real life) who failed xx

Thank you. I'm sorry it didn't work for you Flowers
I intend to go the sperm donor route.

I always wanted a degree, but I dropped out of Manchester Met after 1 term, when I was in my late teens in the 90’s. I finally returned to uni in 2019, and despite having to suspend my studies for a year in 2021, due to having treatment for a breast cancer diagnosis, I graduated with a 1st class (honours) BSc in mental health and well-being earlier this year, and I’m
now studying for an MSc 😊

Congratulations on many fronts. Inspiring Flowers

I need to lose 3 stone. I’m cutting down on sugar and starting spinning again.

Poppytops82 · 05/11/2023 07:10

I'd like to be able to find a way to free my son from OCD completely 🙏

This will be me I hope.
My savings is called my baby money. I feel my life will be more purposeful as a mum. I'm looking forward to it.

This is nice team work. The beauty of being on the same page. Pleased for you.
Would you be investing to generate more or are you looking to save £1.5m in cash? Either way, it's inspiring; keep going Flowers

I'm sorry your son is going through this.
You're clearly a great parent.

I have OCD, and I've grown to live with it.

I'm sorry you have too but good you have grown to live with it. We've done months of erp therapy and meditation it was a lot better but in the middle of a flare up again..

MassiveSalad22 · 05/11/2023 07:35

Body neutrality and to shift the identity put upon me as a child as ‘the fat sibling’.

Have had some therapy in the past but am starting again (different kind which actually is primarily a physical therapy) and really feel like a new chapter is opening up for me in all areas of my life at the moment so hopefully this area is included.

Sourisblanche · 05/11/2023 07:42

Mine is a bit different. I realised I need light in the winter, not necessarily heat, but brighter winter days. So we are moving to a Mediterranean city.

vidflex · 05/11/2023 07:47

I want to walk without a frame or sticks. I used to run for many years but I suddenly became disabled in the last few years. I go to physio and I'm getting stronger. I keep being told it probably won't happen but I'm stubborn and I will do it.

Mayhemmumma · 05/11/2023 07:59

Complete the dream home - we have the house but it's a crumbling wreck and the last two winters have been very hard. I need to improve my earnings and am applying to different jobs. I need to continue to be patient with my DH who is doing all the work as it is a huge, stressful, expensive job.

Ultimately I want us and our children to have a comfortable, beautiful house and garden that we are proud of, that the kids can have their friends round to and we can all enjoy the idyllic location.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 05/11/2023 09:09

Children/live birth not miscarriages - 5 rounds of IVF, 7 lots of meds a day including immune suppressants and a whole host of other things alongside. It’s a mission but may not succeed.

daisypond · 05/11/2023 09:23

Known that high breast density might mean mammograms won’t work. I developed breast cancer but mammograms were all clear. I want people to be notified about their breast density and also to be aware that dense breasts mean you are more likely to get breast cancer in the first place - more than any genetic link.

ilovebagpuss · 05/11/2023 11:47

@Poppytops82 hope you don't mind me offering this comment.
My DD had a serious MH episode with OCD and we saw a private psychiatrist in the end on credit card.
It can be linked to so many underlying conditions and is a way to control those issues too such as ADHD or anxiety.
My point being is that a low dose anti depressant made a huge difference to be able to dampen out the OCD. They explained that they would not expect a teen to be able to think themselves out of it with strategies without some help to cut the anxious drive.
Anyway just a bit of info might not be any help.
My DD still has times where it flares up but is doing well most of the time. I hope your DS improves too.
