I moved in a week ago
It's a semi detached
Heard nothing until last night.
From 6pm music blasting and singing top of their lungs.
There's about 4-5 people in
They are in their 40s
I've had no sleep
They clearly on a bender /drink /drugs
I thought this was a lovely house
The men and women are constantly screaming then shouting and obviously the bass.
I've only been hear a week
Can I complain ?

If it was just one night I'd hold off complaining as it might be a once in a blue moon type of thing. If it becomes a regular occurrence then by all means speak to them

FallingAutumnLeaf · 04/11/2023 11:59

What time did it stop?

Namenamchange · 04/11/2023 12:02

What time did it stop?

TheJubileePortrait · 04/11/2023 12:02

It’s only happened once. It might be a one off. I wouldn’t go in all guns blazing yet, just wait and see.

ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 12:03

It hasn't stopped it's still going on now
Blasting and screaming
I can hear every word to every song in my living room and bedroom

As others said, I’d see if it was a one off. I don’t begrudge anyone a party from time to time. If it’s every weekend then I’d say something.

FreeezePeach · 04/11/2023 12:05

Yeah I'd see if it's a one-off and if it isn't, I'd speak to other neighbours to find out how regularly it happens.

henrysugar12 · 04/11/2023 12:05

If it's a one off then complaining will make you look silly. I'd probably just say something like "sounds like you were having fun the other night!" And see what their response is.

ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 12:16

Surely 18 hours of blasting music and screaming Is a bit of a piss take ?

OP posts:
FallingAutumnLeaf · 04/11/2023 12:45

It's been going all night? I'd ring the none emergancy police, and see if they can come out. There is no way anyone in that house will be in a fit state to act on any request from you.

I wonder why the previous occupants moved?

ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 12:47

@FallingAutumnLeaf yeah since 5/6 pm last night
We are now on to pinks greatest hits
I wouldn't be surprised if that's why they moved

IamSmarticus · 04/11/2023 13:51

I wouldn't complain on this occasion, do you really want to be labelled as a trouble maker when you have only been there a week?

Obvs if it goes on every night or something, that's different.

MissHoollie · 04/11/2023 13:53

Like others don't complain yet.
May be an infrequent occurrence.
If not then do it for sure
Have you met them?

WildFlowerBees · 04/11/2023 13:59

I think after 18 hours I'd knock and politely ask them if they could turn it down a little. We can be so passive in the UK about not upsetting others at the detriment of our own wellbeing. 18 hours is a pisstake and really inconsiderate.

MintJulia · 04/11/2023 14:05

Friday night, 6pm - midnight no problem. Then I'd have banged on the door and asked them to pipe down.

At 2am I'd have rung the police. If they keep it up all weekend, take some timed recordings and ring the council on Monday morning. They are out of order.

Have you spoken to them? Maybe they don't realise the house is occupied.

If it's a one off then complaining will make you look silly. I'd probably just say something like "sounds like you were having fun the other night!" And see what their response is.

Why should OP worry about looking silly? Why should she care what her neighbours think of her at all, when they obviously don’t care if she gets no sleep?

OP truth is if they’re this inconsiderate then a complaint probably won’t achieve anything, but it’s could be worth a try.

If it was me I’d probably not say anything this first time because the chances of them being aggressive assholes seem higher than the chances of them saying oops sorry we’ll try to keep it down.

ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 14:26

They sound off their faces if I'm honestly
I'm regretting moving now
The house itself is lovely but clearly on drugs to be awake all night and screaming the way they are

OP posts:
ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 14:26

@MintJulia haven't spoke to them no but they have seen me and seen lights on etc

OP posts:
HattieBrown · 04/11/2023 14:37

Start keeping a log/diary. Id also knock on and ask them to keep it down. If its still going, they are on drugs. If it carries on today id call police

ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 14:38

@HattieBrown still going unfortunately
Only place I can't hear it is the garden and it's freezing out there

OP posts:
MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 04/11/2023 14:40

Is it a rented property, HA/ Council or a private owner? As that would determine who you report to.

HattieBrown · 04/11/2023 14:40

How do you feel about knocking on the door?

ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 15:20

Well mine is h/a but not sure about next door as a lot in this street are bought houses

OP posts:
ohbloodyhel · 04/11/2023 16:20

Update -music went off for 15 mins
Now back on again blasting
I'm sick now and wish I hadn't moved
I'm stuck here now with this

Superbroom · 04/11/2023 16:25

That’s impressive nearly 24 hours of non stop karaoke.
