Would you complain to neighbour about noise?

I moved in a week ago
It's a semi detached
Heard nothing until last night.
From 6pm music blasting and singing top of their lungs.
There's about 4-5 people in
They are in their 40s
I've had no sleep
They clearly on a bender /drink /drugs
I thought this was a lovely house
The men and women are constantly screaming then shouting and obviously the bass.
I've only been hear a week
Can I complain ?

They left for 15 mins and came back with bags of I'm assuming alcohol

See if your HA has a number on their website for out-of-hours problems (not emergency repairs).
If there is, call them later tonight.

Also check local council website, some councils still have emergency environmental numbers.

Failing that, call the police after midnight and explain how long this has gone on for. They may have knowledge of your neighbours from past behaviour.

I'd be nervous about going round to be honest - it's unlikely to achieve anything. They'll either be aggressive and ramp things up to annoy you, or they'll try and persuade you to join them, or they'll turn it down for 5 minutes.

I think police are your best bet. At least then they won't know definitely that it was you complaining. Presumably they'll be disturbing other neighbours?

111 will get you through to the NHS, you need to ring 101 for the police.

But if I were you, I'd look up the number of your council noise abatement team.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. If you had been tormented by scum like this you would understand the level of hate that builds up overtime.

Mrspinksky, I wasn't being flippant with you. When uve been subjected what op has it can be very traumatic. As I said we had it for six years. It could've been any day of the week at any hour. 5am on a weekdays, my Dw in tears because of no sleep and up at 4,30am for work.

Bad /noisy neighbours are the only people in my life I’ve ever wished death on. If you’ve experienced it you’d understand.

I would complain quite firmly in the hope it gets nipped in the bud

But from my experience they know what they are doing and don't care. Get your HA, council noise abatement team and anyone you can think of involved now.

Please make sure you document the times you were disturbed. I lived with horrendous neighbours for 14 months but the council would only look at antisocial noise between 11-7. The council will have a noise abatement team - contact them if it happens again.

My NDNs also were entertaining last night. I have barely slept they were talking so loud. It went quiet at around 3.30am. I am totally fucked this morning. You have my sympathies. To be fair, my neighbours are usually fine. I have spent the last hour playing piano 🎹😂
