I don't know much about ND, apart from the fact she is an ex nurse and supports BJ.

The fact she is constantly derided in the press makes me suspicious that someone, somewhere is doing a hatchet job along the lines of 'this middle aged woman is mad and sad etc etc' so ignore her. That alone makes me take notice of what she has to say because ageism and misogyny have been used forever to discredit middle aged women.

People who have been following politics closely will know that nadine dories has been very incompetent at her job, spectacularly biased towards Boris, very neglectful of her constituency and has given interviews in which she can easily be judged to be not very clever, rude, aggressive and often ignorant of the facts.

I would turn it around and say that she is perpetuating the stereotype of an old, mad woman. A bit like David Frost helping middle-aged white men to be thought as gammony tossers. Which of course they are not. Just like most middle-aged women aren't barking.

So sick of these posts where someone gets some publicity (or writes some) and just posts a link to it. When does this cross over into spam/self promotion? Write an OP with your own opinion FFS!

Coupled with the fact I think a lot of ire directed towards ND is pure ageism and misogyny. As I said previously that always makes me sit up and take notice because I know from experience that if people are using that to smear a woman then there's usually good reason they want them not to be taken seriously.

Come off it. I don't think there is any hint of ageism, and I don't have a clue how old she is. But she has demonstrated through her own words and actions that she is quite deluded. The fact that she is female is an irrelevance.

She certainly isn't helping disprove the generally held stereotype of middle aged women, that's for sure (and I speak as one).

Citrusandginger · 06/11/2023 12:25

I'm a middle aged female. I find a good way of not being judged as being as mad as a box of frogs is being generally competent and good at my job. I also choose my friends wisely.

newnamethanks · 06/11/2023 12:32

Thanks OP, you've gone where others fear to tread. Mrs Tishell writes a book (apologies to Doc Martin). There is no way I'm giving her a penny so I'll glean what I can from others reports, thank you all.

Not slagging off former employers and colleagues in public and in print helps, too.

I was first alerted to ND on HIGNFY. Which was also when I found out how deeply unpleasantly racist she is. As well as willing to use her own family

First extracts from Nadine’s Boris book are absolutely bonkers

Actually off topic and irrelevant, but seeing as how many people are bringing up Nadine Dories' age: I think she looks great. I hope I look as good as her at 66.

She's like Priti Patel in that aspect. A very unpleasant politician, but I take my hat of to her on a very superficial level.

I hadn't realised she was 66!!! I'm mid 50's and she looks better than I do 😂😭

shardash · 06/11/2023 15:41

I wouldn't mind but she wrote the thing when she was still supposed to have been my MP and 'working hard' for her constituents. And getting paid to do fuck all except come up with trash like this.

piscofrisco · 06/11/2023 15:47

I'm a strong challenger of ageism and misogyny but in nadines case I would say that objections to her are in fact because she is really unhinged. Not because she's an older woman.

Read the Daily Mail stuff. One strange bit where someone she calls Moneypenny can’t remember Chris Pincher’s name. It’s not a name that anyone in the Tory Party is likely to forget as such a good eg of nominative determinism.

Her main target seems to be Michael Gove.

SerendipityJane · 06/11/2023 16:05

Although he is weasel of a man and someone I intensely despise, I have to admit his dedication to eradicating leasehold has my support and (dare I say it) admiration. Weird bunch these Scots Tories.

Gave two cheers when I read that. If he extends it to existing leaseholds that'll be three.

Gove for all his many faults, is the one current Minister who takes an interest in his brief and tries (often in the wrong direction) to get things done to help improve people's lot.

Passepartoute · 06/11/2023 18:36

I totally despised Gove when he was Education Secretary, and was pretty worried when he went to Justice. However, I was pleasantly surprised that he actually produced some reasonably sensible initiatives, though as he came straight after that idiot Grayling I suppose it wasn't too difficult to do better. But he also gets kudos for recognising the total incompetence of both Johnson and Truss and being prepared to speak up about both, though he was a bit bloody slow in Johnson's case.

He must be about the most experienced member of the current cabinet, given that he actually goes back to being a Shadow Minister in opposition, and I think it shows.

vernatheraven · 06/11/2023 18:43

Is this a fiction book or based on reality?

Passepartoute · 06/11/2023 18:44

Definitely fiction, but its author won't agree.

What makes you think it's the truth, @Chromium24? It's not as if Nads' track record demonstrates much of a connection between her and reality.
