What can I do with unwanted Lego?

I have two huge boxes full of random Lego. I don't have the boxes or instructions it came with. I'm doing a big declutter. How should I dispose of it?

Local school or library?

ttcchapter2 · 03/11/2023 10:43

Some daycare/nurseries might take it

Aria2015 · 03/11/2023 10:43

Put it on FB marketplace, offer it to a nursery or local school? Lego is timeless and always in hot demand.

Beamur · 03/11/2023 10:43

Offer it to a local primary school or charity shop?
eBay it if you want some money back. Random Lego still pretty desirable I would have thought.

eitherorneithernor · 03/11/2023 10:43

Donate it to a children's therapy centre.

This. It's such a great toy

Needmorelego · 03/11/2023 10:44

Sell on Facebook Marketplace
Sell on eBay
Send it to me

Important tips...
Make sure it's clean
If there are non-Lego brand bricks mixed in please state that on the advert. You can't advertise it as "Lego" if half of it is an alternative brand.

TentChristmas · 03/11/2023 10:44

There’s a Facebook group where people buy and sell Lego. You might be able to find out what people would buy it for. People sometimes see rare things or pieces in your pictures and there are people that buy it in bulk and sell it on for parts.

Thanks. It's good to know someone will want it. I'll ask my local nursery.

there are people who buy bags of lego like this. You can look through the parts for unusual pieces, and go to the lego site and find out what sets they were in, then look up the parts list and build the item.

If you don't want to do that yourself, sell or donate it. (but i can't wrap my head round the term "unwanted Lego")

Whinge · 03/11/2023 10:45

There's surely no such thing. Confused

There are plenty of schools, nurseries, playgroups and children adults who would love to take it off your hands. 🤣

alwaysonadiet1 · 03/11/2023 10:47

I think I'll donate it. Thanks all.

Sprinkle it under the feet of your enemies

🤣🤣🤣🤣

OP that’s lovely that you’re in a position to donate it-whoever gets it will be very appreciative !

Don't suppose you live in Newcastle? A local school is appealing for lego for its lego club

Lego is probably a bit small for nurseries unless there is some dulplo. I would try a primary school or a charity shop. Lots of people want Lego. My nephew is doing a project to build a detailed model house so buys up bundles, takes out the pieces he can use then sells the rest on.

If you have any full sets with instructions or boxes some sets are worth a fortune.

Allthescreens · 03/11/2023 12:38

Most libraries will happily accept it 😊

lilsupersparks · 03/11/2023 12:56

it will get snapped up on eBay or marketplace but if you are giving it away, lots of libraries have Lego clubs and definitely schools.

Central London sorry!

I was going to say Lego clubs but someone’s beaten me to it. On a related note though, how on earth do you clean Lego? We also have a huge pile of unsorted pieces full of pet hair, toddler cruft and general child fudge. 🙄

gazingatgoats · 03/11/2023 13:33

I sold my random Lego as a job lot on eBay

How about swishing it around in a hot bubble bath? I can't think of another way!
