What colours are inside your house?

Same colour throughout, different in each room, neutrals or colourful?

I would be happy with the same off white throughout but DP will rebel against this as boring. But he also does not like anything darker than cream, light grey, light beige, so while we have different colours, they are all pretty bland..

We have lots of strong smoky pastels - biscuit hallways, amethyst living space, Wedgwood blue kitchen, sage green, slate grey and dusty pink bedrooms.

@Ladybird69 of course I don't mind! You are very kind to say so. I have an antique Chinese dish that I used as my inspiration for the colour scheme in that room. I have IKEA cabinets, but I have changed the knobs to a soft looking brushed brass rather than the black ones provided. As you say, it looks warmer.

Magnolia - it's a rental so I don't get to choose and I can't even hang a picture or mirror to break up the bland. If I had any say I'd go for some strong colours - green with copper, purple with charcoal.

@notprincehamlet
Have you tried Command strips?

Our living room and games room are dark blue, hallway is white with dark green bannisters and stairs and dark green panelling at the bottom, kitchen walls are black with white units and tiles, bedroom/office is safe green & dusky pink, sons bedroom is white and dark grey and our bedroom is teal, pink & gold. Our bathroom is sage green & grey
we like colour!!!

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/10/2023 16:52

Lounge grey and forest green
Kitchen navy and white
Bathroom turquoise
Dining room yellow
Bedroom 1 purple
Bedroom 2 red
Bedroom 3 white

Loads of different accents in each though

Thank you @ElizaWinter - my lease has a clause precluding me from attaching anything to the walls and detailing all the usual rental-friendly products that I can't use. (It's an old 'new'-build not Downton Abbey!)

Phillipa12 · 30/10/2023 17:16

The base colour in each room is ivory, but then to fo with the ivory I have green, teal, navy blue, hot pink and duck egg. I love my colour and my house suits colour.

RubyRubyRubyRubay · 30/10/2023 17:26

Bright white everywhere, walls, woodwork, radiators, ceilings - even the floors!

So much easier to touch up and repaint rather than having 20 different colours to contend with.

Can also change the mood of every room just by changing a few cushion covers, bedding, rugs or throws.

Sgtmajormummy · 30/10/2023 17:43

Our previous house was muted foresty shades of green, pink, yellow, lavender and soft peach. Most of the furniture was cream painted wood. White walls and cream tiles. Very feminine.

This one is more masculine, black and white kitchen with red accents, dark wood furniture, wooden floors, fabric is Jacobean and paisley prints in wine shades. I’ve enjoyed picking up traditional style rugs, paintings and lithographs. In the sitting room we have a mirror over a false mantelpiece and a Murano chandelier light fitting, both second hand. Teal and white in bathrooms and black toile print in DD’s bedroom. White walls.

RinklyRomaine · 30/10/2023 17:43

It used to be shades of white. Now we are shades of white, blue and green, with a deep slate blue lounge from furniture to woodwork, walls and fireplace, and a butterscotch bedroom. Much cosier and works in our 30s house. I love colour but used to just change up accessories etc.
A return to colour has been a welcome change.

Lots if different colours. Deep red, teal, lilac, hot pink, bright yellow etc. I love colour. Would hate a white house . But each to their own!

Same. I couldn’t live in a grey or White House. We have blues, greens, pinks and some crazy colourful wallpaper. Colour makes me happy.

Apossum · 30/10/2023 17:56

The whole house is a sort of variation on one colour scheme; sage green, beige, forest green, creams, a lotttt of natural, stripped wood, all very earthy colours. And loads of houseplants… too many really 😂

Boska23 · 30/10/2023 18:00

All walls are white to contrast with dark woodwork. Downstairs is dark wood and brown-grey to beige. Kitchen is country style. Our bedroom is white, duck-egg and gray. DD's is white, blush and pale purple (unicorn theme). My office is country-style woodwork with a teal sofa and teal elements in the carpet. Guest room is white.

Beezknees · 30/10/2023 18:18

I do like grey but I like a bit of colour too. I have a teal rug and mustard cushions in the living room. Kitchen has navy and gold. Bathroom is black and white.

RedRiverShore4 · 30/10/2023 18:22

Every room different and different carpet in each room and some patterned wallpapers. I don't like white or grey much.

Ladybird69 · 30/10/2023 18:24

@DilemmaDelilah That’s a good idea to start with something like that. I think I have found a nice blue so that’s given me a push to get started 😁x

Pushkinia · 30/10/2023 19:27

Mostly neutrals, mainly black, grey, white or beige.

One bedroom is silver grey carpet and white walls, bedding is white with black/grey edging but I have dark red curtains and a red wall art. It sounds shocking but works really well. I have no idea what I was thinking of, it’s so unlike me!

Yummybumble · 31/10/2023 07:42

Walls Green, Blue (variations) and white. Furniture red, pink and blue but our old house suited a much more neutral colour palette as it was a darker house with smaller windows. Current house is period west facing with enormous windows therefore it embraces darker colours and neutrals wash it out.

What is your house like OP?

TiredandLate · 31/10/2023 07:46

After renting for most of my 20's I've developed an aversion to neutral 😅. Lot's of green, blue, pink and turquoise at the minute.
