Poshest list I ever did see…

I love the way it’s entirely for the guests expected. There’s no random tin of tomatoes or toothpaste.

It’s often called baby’s breath. Used to pad out bouquets. Think of the traditional ‘last minute petrol station bunch’ thats mixed with carnations.

Classier all on its own though. (Standing up for the list owner here.) Perhaps they will add their own greenery from the garden. The top garden, not the orchard or the kitchen garden, obv.

I love that it says Sparkly Water instead of Sparkling Water. Sparkly Grin

Cavalo Nero though. Whilst it really is Cavolo, can we just call it black kale instead of pretending it's some sort of fancy Italian vegetable?

Quite right! And we should say “small marrow” instead of courgette.

ClarkGablesMoustache · 29/10/2023 10:22

I expect they are a good cook.

I don't know, @Lightbulbspark - they are buying the chicken ready-spatchcocked rather than doing it themselves. I think definitely a foodie but not necessarily a cook.

But if someone has been sent out with the list they may need to know it is Cavolo Nero because looking for black kale in Waitrose wouldn't work.

I often find reading the discarded receipts at supermarket cash points a good sport.

Always good to find ones that make you feel better.

NyanBinaryJohn · 29/10/2023 12:28

Agreed on small marrow too. Or baby marrow.

lurchermummy · 29/10/2023 12:29

I love a list. Never heard of Nyetimber. Agree the quorn roast is an anomaly - an organic nut one would be more in keeping?

I once overheard someone in Waitrose absolutely kicking off because they had no fresh pesto.

ChienneDesFromages · 29/10/2023 12:34

Definitely guests for lunch in that household.

If I was the veggie guest I’d be declining the (bleuch!) Quorn roast and asking for extra Nyetimber!

Gowlett · 29/10/2023 12:35

I love a good list.

cavolo nero
sourdough
spatchcock

All quite posh!

Nyetuber???

HavfrueDenizKisi · 29/10/2023 12:49

That's a cracking list OP. Well done for letting us enjoy it.

It's the spatchcock, cavolo nero and nyetimber specifics that elevate this list.

FelicityFlops · 29/10/2023 12:50

Frightful!
However, I do not like Waitrose at all.
Not at all "posh" as air freshener mentioned as well as spatchcock (what?). If it is chicken or other fowl, why not just do it yourself?
Nyetimber wines are overpriced, at the moment, as they have limited production capacity.
As for cavolo nero and sourdough, I can get both of these (cavolo nero needing to be in season, just like sprouts) at my local market - but I live in Europe.

AntonFeckoff · 29/10/2023 13:32

I had to google gypsophila.

I like to leave my shopping lists clipped to the little holder for other shoppers to peruse.

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/10/2023 13:38

The only thing I know out of that is spatchcock, because I've smashed a chicken or two.

The other two things sound like an ailment.

Davros · 29/10/2023 15:38

Now I know what gypsophila is and that people buy it, I'm reminded that earlier this year, a friend made me stop the car to pick cow parsley which she arranged beautifully.

TootenCarMoon · 29/10/2023 17:18

Loving all the detective work of identifying the life of the listee! It’s a Waitrose in a really expensive area to live so Nyetimber is probably par for the course there.
