Selling on Vinted

Fkalfkfcnmoo59600789 · 28/10/2023 18:33

I am thinking of selling on Vinted, I have bought plenty on there but want to start selling to make some extra cash and to start getting rid of stuff in my home.

Does anyone have any tips for me for selling on the site?

Do you sell a lot of stuff on there?

How much money have you made so far?

Do people constantly buy off you or is it slow selling things on there?

I sell on Vinted but I do everything super cheap to get all of my unwanted things gone and it soons builds up rather than waiting for people to spend alot and make nothing. Last time I made 70pounds and this time I have gone on a selling spree and made approx 80pounds, going to try and hit 100pounds. Not wild but thats £100 worth of xmas presents for free or to put to spendo for my daytrip to London soon

@Hibye23289 that’s so good, I’m planning on selling loads on there keeping everything under £10.

I have a few brand new pieces and designer items, as well as lots of children’s clothes.

I hope to make as much as that 🤞

About £2k
£200 today as it is payday weekend and i did a big list
you need to list regularly to drive traffic to your other listings

evri can go in inpost lockers
yodel is a pain here as limited collection points and each has a daily bag size cap

You can get decent prices for decent stuff so dont go too low

Dogsitterwoes · 28/10/2023 18:42

Can you use it if you can't print labels?

maw29 · 28/10/2023 18:43

Most of my kids items are £1 or £2. Even ds Tommy Hilfiger tracksuits in excellent condition sold for £5 after being up for weeks on end.

Be realistic with prices and reduce if they're not sold within a week to 10 days.

I make about £20 a week selling different bits, I have bundles on too so they can save on postage.

I keep things for a month and if they've not sold, they go to the charity shop.

Dotcheck · 28/10/2023 18:43

Not a seller, but I buy ( too much) on Vinted.

I appreciate lots of pictures, skirt length, sizing information ( ie if it fits small or not), and pictures should be well lit, and not on a person

Fkalfkfcnmoo59600789 · 28/10/2023 18:43

@Silverfoxcub how long did it take you to make 2k? Do you only sell clothes or is it a bit of everything ?
I know one postal service to avoid in my area and that’s Inpost

Hibye23289 · 28/10/2023 18:44

@Silverfoxcub was gonna say you've made loads!!! Well done! Mine seems rubbish now 😂 I do think I go too low but it's just old kids stuff but maybe I will re-evaluate it! Thankyou

Silverfoxcub · 28/10/2023 18:44

Use notifications to send offers
dont reserve for people who make an offer- most don’t actually buy

Fkalfkfcnmoo59600789 · 28/10/2023 18:44

@Dotcheck that’s really good advice thank you I’ll keep that in mind

Unlike ebay you cant see sold prices
i listed something today and vinted suggested £3.78. Sold for £28 in less tgan a hour

Hibye23289 · 28/10/2023 18:46

@Dogsitterwoes yes! Scan the code on your phone, Evri have print out machines in Tescos etc, Yodel the shop prints it and the Inpost locker boxes you scan the code on your phone and it opens a box and you put your item in. All of the above have nearest locations you can google

Since July? It is probably closer to £3k nos to be honest
everything - I sell loads of home stuff

Hibye23289 · 28/10/2023 18:48

@Silverfoxcub Wow! That's amazing. I sold a pair of kids adidas trainers for £1!!! Because they were abit rough round the edges and the guy scored me low for slow postage, I was like mate you got a pair of trainers for a pound!! 😂

Silverfoxcub · 28/10/2023 18:49

Inpost is fab for me. There is a giant locker at sainsburys- so go as part of dogs walk

Can you use it if you can't print labels?

Yes you can but make sure you use the postage options that allow you to download the barcode.

I don't have a printer so I only ship via Yodel and Evri (both have the option to download a barcode and you then scan this when you take it to your local Yodel / Evri shipping place - which is a Tesco Express for me) and you scan the barcode on the machine instore, print it off, attach to parcel and then the Tesco staff member scans it for shipping.

Works remarkably well if you don't have the means to print labels.

Main downside for me is you have no control when someone buys. So you could be taking parcels everyday? Not an issue as my store is quite close by but it can be quite demotivating to trot back to Tesco in the rain for a £1 parcel.

I try to sell bundles and higher value to make it more worthwhile.

I've made a few hundred quid but still spent much more than I've made 😠

Dogsitterwoes · 28/10/2023 18:42

Can you use it if you can't print labels?

Yes. You can either set Royal Mail as your only settings so you can take them to the post office, but I’ve been stung a few times doing this as you get there and it’s £4 for a parcel but Vinted have decided it’s a large letter and only charged the seller £2.50 or whatever.

Or, set it to only Evri and make sure you have a store to hand that offers in store printing

Fkalfkfcnmoo59600789 · 28/10/2023 18:51

@Silverfoxcub thats amazing how much you have sold
It’s definitely encouraging me to try this
thank you

Hibye23289 · 28/10/2023 18:54

@DaftyInTheMiddle I didn't know you could set a preferred delivery!! I've been driving to different shops, doing my head in haha Yodel is hard for me there are hardly any close by!

Toddler101 · 28/10/2023 18:57

Dogsitterwoes · 28/10/2023 18:42

Can you use it if you can't print labels?

Yes - Evri do an option with digital labels via QR code emailed to you or downloaded on the app. Pack parcel, take parcel and phone with QR code to aprcel shop, they scan and print label and tracking info gets automatically updated 👌

You set the postage, Vinted doesn't set it for you.

Toddler101 · 28/10/2023 19:03

I've been selling all the baby stuff as we outgrow it. Made £160 in a couple of weeks, putting it towards Christmas! I don't go every day to post parcels, you get a few days leeway to send the things so I tend to wait until I've got more than one item to send then drop them off all at once.

It's so easy to use and working really well for me so far. Set your price and be open to offers.

Delatron · 28/10/2023 19:03

I spent a week having a clear out and made £370. Involved quite a few trips to local drop off points. Can’t be arsed to do that for £2 - it’s just not worth it. So most things I sold for £15 plus. Some things £40-£60.

I have nothing really of worth left that I want to sell. But glad I’ve figured it out. It’s good if you buy an expensive dress for a wedding to something then wear it a few times and sell it on.
Sezanne jumpers do well on there!

pumpkintits · 28/10/2023 19:03

Price lower than you think it should sell for. I always have a price in mind but when it comes up with other similar items and their prices they are always lower than what I was going to price it as.

As a buyer I always weigh in the cost of delivery and the buyer protection (that protects you from absolutely nothing 😤), loads of times I find things that when adding the buyer protection and delivery are maybe a tiny bit cheaper than if I just bought them new, so I don't bother. So whatever I list is priced at a bargain because a) I just want it out my house and b) it's more than I would get just taking them to the charity shop
