How long from meeting to marriage?

Met dh in Jan 2004, married in August 2004.
50 guests, church wedding, reception for 50 at a local country house with 3 course meal and wine. Evening disco and buffet with additional guests.
Cost us £5000
I made my dress and my one bridesmaids, mum made the cake, we used family cars, a friend was photographer (free), family did the flowers, no charges from church or organist as family links.
I couldn't imagine spending years planning a wedding!

Interested to hear others stories.

Met April 1985, engaged October 1985, married May 1986 in church. 60 guests.
Reception at local hotel/ restaurant.
We're Grandparents now, still together & happy.

Met Feb (through mutual friends), engaged May, married October, thirty years ago this week. DS born a year later, DC2 just short of 10 years later.
Small wedding for 40 but a much bigger after party for 200 to include our friends. Total cost less than £5,000.
It feels like madness now but not at the time. I'd still choose the small wedding.

Met at uni in 2000, engaged in 2007 and married in 2009. This was fine for us because we were only young when we got together, so we needed to do our degree, get post grad qualifications, get jobs established and buy a house before we worried about getting married. We also needed to save for the wedding. Think it was around 13/14K.

First date was August 2006, dp surprised me completely with a ring on Christmas Day 2021, we're considering a wedding for Easter school holidays 2024. Probably won't though and wouldn't surprise me if we never get around to it in the end, neither of us are party planners.

Met in a bar when we were both with friends, went on our first date 3 days later, saw each other 2-3 times a week for about 6 months, went on our first holiday after 7 months together, moved in together after 15 months, got engaged after 18 months (3 months after moving in together,) and got married after 3 years. (Both in our mid 20s when we got married.)

First child after 5 years of marriage. Second after 7 years. Smile

15 years between meeting and getting married. But given that we were 10 when we met that seemed ok Grin
