Please share movie scenes that moved you. I have 2. First one is Mama Mia here we go again when Donna snd Sophie do a duet at her baby’s christening (even typing this I’m welling up ). Also another the end of Artificial Intelligence where the little robot boy has one last perfect day with his mum then he gets in the bed with her knowing she would never wake up. Never heard anyone else mention this one. Totally sobbed!

The "it's not your fault" scene from Good Will Hunting gets me every time.

BrennanBooth · 21/10/2023 21:08

Oh I could go all day with these!

Homeward Bound when Shadow arrives home

Brother Bear when Koda sees his mum in the spirit clouds

The final episode of Ted Lasso

When Marian returned in Indiana Jones and Phoebes character punched him to bring him back to the future

A dogs purpose (I think it’s called everyone of the dogs lives gets me lol)

Bolt when he does the super bark and they rescue them from the fire at the end (this is after I’ve watched the other scenes above lol)

Terms of Endearment when attacks her grandson and when Aurora attacks her grandson and when Emma dies, again Auroras reaction

I can't watch homeward bound when the final dog returns , just makes me too emotional!
Alive when the guy holds the little red shoe out of the plane at the end.
Titanic when jack turns round to see Rose walking up the stairs at the end and all the other characters are clapping.

Last of the Mohicans on the cliff
Murial's Mum at the wedding
The last scene in Gladiator
Up first scene
The Color Purple first scene

I recently saw 'The Great Escaper' at the pictures and the whole film was incredibly moving. It's based on the true story of the D-Day veteran who left his care home to attend the 70th anniversary commemorations in France. Only his wife knew where he'd gone and he was all over the news at the time. Michael Caine & the late Vanessa Redgrave play Bernie & his wife, Rene.

Thank you everyone! A dogs purpose wrecks me and I’m not even a dog person. The end scene in the second movie I embarrassed my daughter at the cinema let’s just say 😂😂

The end of Titanic I agree so cheesy yet so beautiful and moving. Funny enough the thing that moves me the most in the movie is when it is setting sail and everyone is waving goodbye so joyfully little knowing what was going to happen 😢. I think the movie used actual footage which makes it more poignant.

Numerous scenes in the Fault in Our Stars.

Watched it 18 months after losing my granddad to lung cancer, which probably wasn't my smartest move. I was a wreck. Can't bring myself to watch it again.

The "it's not your fault" scene from Good Will Hunting gets me every time.

Robin Williams speech where he talks about his wife, that Matt Damon doesn't know what it's like to feel truly vulnerable, where she could level you with her eyes etc. Gets me EVERY TIME.

WarmLightsAtNight · 21/10/2023 21:39

Shawshank Redemption - when Red embraces Andy on the beach 😭

WarmLightsAtNight · 21/10/2023 21:41

Also The Green Mile, pretty much the whole thing but when Dean is crying his eyes out and Tom Hanks shakes John's hand in the chair 😭

AlwaysOneMissing · 21/10/2023 21:44

JoJo Rabbit when he ties his mum’s shoelaces. I can barely type that without welling up - so subtle, yet so heart wrenching.

Titanic when the woman tucks her two young children up in bed. You can imagine that really happening. Just so tragic.

Lagershandy · 21/10/2023 21:48

The 'Married Life' scene in UP, I am quite hard hearted and rarely get teary eyed. That scene always gets to me, (the music too!)

Corcra · 21/10/2023 21:55

The scene in My left foot where Brenda Frickers character says to Daniel Day Lewis character "you'll break my heart. Sometimes I think you are my heart" ❤️

In the name of the father when Guiseppe dies, I was heartbroken thinking of how that poor man died. A beautiful scene.

DarkDarkNight · 21/10/2023 22:13

I can never think of any, but Coco had me sobbing several times. The fading out when there is no one left to remember you, and poor Hector.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 21/10/2023 22:23

Well between this and the thread about dying and there being no one left to remember us in a couple of generations I'm in need of a stiff brandy and a hankerchief😢

Dead Poets' Society - O Captain! My Captain! Sad

longtompot · 21/10/2023 22:29

The opening scene in Up!

The Christmas scene in Stepmom. Actually, a lot of scenes in that film.

A bit of an odd one, but it really got to me at the end of the one of the recent Jurassic Parks, I think the second one of the reboot, where they are escaping on the boats and the friendly dinosaurs are at the harbours edge braying with the island on fire behind them. It really upset me.

Yes me too. It wasn’t even a very good film.

Mine is Sally Field’s performance in the funeral scene in Steel Magnolias.

Also the opening scene of Up. I was totally unprepared for it.

And not a film, but in the recent TV adaptation of His Dark Materials when Lyra left Pan at the dock. Also (if we’re allowed TV), the Inside Number 9 episode 12 Days of Christine.

Bedbynoon · 21/10/2023 22:45

I felt sorry for the Dino’s in all of the Jurassic movies, they didn’t ask to be brought back 😢

Oh and this one is sooo old that I’m not sure that anyone else will remember but Pollyanna with Hayley Mills when her Aunt was so cold to her (but clearly loved her deep down and had her own issues )and at the end after her accident she asked for her and they hugged.

“Daddy - my Daddy!”

nuff said

HeartshapedFox · 21/10/2023 22:50

The end of Cars when Lightening pushes the King over the finishing line. “It’s just a cup” 🥹. Every time. Such an underrated movie!

CobwebsAndCauldrons · 21/10/2023 22:54

The Color Purple when Shug Avery leads the 'sinners' to her dad's church and finally gets some love and acceptance from him.

"See Daddy. Sinners have souls too."
