What’s Happening In Your House?

I can’t see a thread from LucysMam today so thought I would start one. Hope everyone’s having a good Sat so far.
I worked 10 til 2 - so busy! We’re selling loads of Christmas stuff plus there’s a sale on some Halloween products & I sold loads of decorating materials too. Really want to redecorate our whole house! Popped to Tescos after work for a few bits then home for a late lunch & finished loading the dishwasher. DH & I are off to a show tonight. We were going to eat out first but decided to save that for another time & grab Burger King instead then a drink at Wetherspoons which is just opposite the theatre.

Enjoy your evenings all!

I bumbled what felt like a 100 miles this morning to pick up an adorable antique bedroom chair that I won in a local auction.

This afternoon I have mostly done nothing apart from start binging 'Burning Girls'.

I'm now wondering whether to retreat to my duvet to finish off the last two episodes or to make a sandwich!

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 18:38

@C1239 It's DH who makes the broccoli and potato bake but think its a relatively simple dish a bit like this recipe

https://anitalianinmykitchen.com/broccoli-potato-casserole/

Sometimes he has baked salmon in it as well, depends on veggie DD but that's just the same with bits of baked salmon. Sometimes he has cauliflower as well as broccoli.

Wishing you strength to get through tonight Burntoutnurse

Creamy Broccoli Potato Casserole

This fast and easy Creamy Broccoli Potato Casserole is the perfect side dish. Three layers of Broccoli, Potatoes, a Creamy Sauce and a sprinkling

I’ve had the week from hell at work this week so I have purposely done nothing more strenuous than put the food shop away this morning and made shepherd’s pie for tea. I haven’t even bothered getting dressed.

I opened the wine whilst cooking and I shall continue to drink it until I run out.

Dh and dd19 have been working today, dd16 has also had a lazy day and dd9 has been at her friend’s house next door but one most of the day and also had tea there.

My plan tonight is to have a quick shower soon and into clean pjs, dh is going out so me and the girls will watch a film, eat chocolate and, as I said above, drinking lots of wine.

ssd · 21/10/2023 18:52

Im just home from work, deciding on what to have for dinner

Chelsea26 · 21/10/2023 18:53

Got up to take DS1 to football training this morning and popped to Sainsbury’s, came back, unblocked the sink and made a load of sandwiches as we had all four kids, MIL and a cousin for lunch.

DP and his kids were working on the garden room project in the rain this afternoon. DS1 walked the dog, DS2 has done nothing so he’ll be clearing up after dinner!

We’ve had football then cricket and now football again on the telly, rugby will be on shortly.

Chilli in slow cooker for dinner in an hour or so - can’t decide whether to do rice or have chilli fries - might let the kids have a vote…

Tomorrow I’m getting a new nephew!!! My sister is booked in for a c-section and I am sooooooo excited. Will be on tenterhooks until I get the phone call and then will be on the train up to meet him seconds after hanging up!

Iamnotaloggrip · 21/10/2023 18:54

DD is playing with cars, DS watching a football programme on YouTube. I’m in clean PJs after a lovely hot bath and fajitas for tea. DP doing some work. Early night for me after a late one last night.

Thisislifefornow · 21/10/2023 18:57

I'm relaxing in bed whilst the tv is occupied downstairs. Both boys in the rooms watching films. I have been to a lovely garden centre today to look at Xmas decs and have a hot chocolate with my mum. Going to start cooking a Wagamama katsu curry shortly and have a gin.

KindaDefinitelyMaybe · 21/10/2023 18:58

DD is watching some shite on YouTube. DH is in the kitchen cooking (some spooky curried pie thing from Hello Fresh). DS is out at his friends. I've just had a shower, deep conditioned my hair and poured a large red. I'll light the fire in a minute and get ready for Strictly.

Silkiefloof · 21/10/2023 18:58

@C1239 Asked DH and he said he puts butter flour and add milk slowly to make a bechamel sauce and adds cheese then slices potatoes and broccoli and put sauce over it and bakes it for c 45 mins

honeylulu · 21/10/2023 19:17

Slow start as had a client do last night and felt a bit rough. Chilled morning with the newspapers and continental breakfast prepared by husband. Did a workout watching some of the Haunted Mansion.

Then took daughter (9, the only one we still have at home) to dance lesson, popped back and watched rest of film doing a stretch workout. Started cleaning bathrooms and had shower, did dance pick up.

Husband did lunch (tuna melts) then finished bathrooms x 3 wrapped some birthday presents, touched up nail polish and tidied. Daughter did some art and went on tablet. H read papers and sorted a problem with ring doorbell.

5pm daughter's bestie arrived for a sleepover. They went off to play and I snuck the Halloween decs out and put them up to surprise them when they came down. Then tesco delivery came and I cooked nuggets chips and sweetcorn for them. H and i did a bit of research on next year's holiday (Disney, I know, I know, but we took eldest and youngest really wants to go!). Then I'm doing belly pork with pickled prunes and cucumber (in last week's Guardian Feast mag) for us adults. Daughter usually eats with us but bestie is very fussy!

mouthgoingsouth · 21/10/2023 19:24

Started the day off with a blustery dog walk down on the beach whilst DH went to collect our boat and get it stowed away for the winter. After lunch DH took the children shopping to spend their pocket money whilst I caught up on some work.
Lovely dinner of chicken nachos with homemade guacamole and salad. Now we're all sat watching a Harry Potter after skype catch up with the grandparents. Fire's lit and it's toasty.

lucysmam · 21/10/2023 19:32

I'm ever so slightly hungover after one too many 🙈 no headache or anything, just that exceptionally tired & blah feeling. I've napped on and off all day, had a super hot shower, cooked a fry up for tea, and now considering something sweet before I head back to bed 💤💤 I might scroll for a backdrop of Adele's Vegas stage without the piano on it, that I could print for dd2's birthday cake in December, before I head up. I need some miniature stage lights too if anyone knows where I might find some 🤔

Dd1 is about to make a start on her Law homework - we've just talked through it so it should be quite quick for her to get down on paper.

Dd2 could do with going to bed soon & a good sleep, I think. She's grotty af (and I'm guessing due on).

Mumoftwotoddlers · 21/10/2023 17:07

Kids have been fighting all day so I'm 1 bottle of wine in and losing my voice from yelling. Apart from that I've put all the autumn decorations up so there's light up leaf garlands and pumpkin candles all over the place, as well as an obnoxious amount of orange glitter. Probably do something simple for dinner and have a cosy night as it's so cold today, I have a new book to read. Thinking of doing some Halloween baking but quite honestly don't think I've got the mental energy for it

Where are the light up leaf garlands from?? I'd love some

wineandmaltesershappyme · 21/10/2023 19:50

Had a very chill morning, enjoyed some fresh bread and a chocolate caramel roulade from the village bakery. Did some gardening this afternoon and enjoyed a roast chicken dinner this evening as ASDA sent us a chicken with today's date instead of tomorrow's.

Ilovelurchers · 21/10/2023 19:52

I have not left the house all day! It has been lovely. I did baking, had a bath, wrapped some Christmas presents and read my book. And made an orzotto thing which we had for dinner.

My husband walked the dog and went to Poundland on his motorbike but otherwise has also done very little.

My daughter is with her dad and it has been nice to spend some time just the two of us. I love him very much!

We are in bed now reading/on our devices and listening to the radio.

EsmeeMerlin · 21/10/2023 20:03

I have had a glorious day. DH took our two children to his mother's for the day. I arranged it for him so I could have some child free time. I enjoyed Christmas shopping at the retail park, TV and a nap. I don't get a lot of time without children and I work with children too so I value it when I get it. They are all home now, we have just had McDonald's for dinner and Strictly is on the TV.

LindorDoubleChoc · 21/10/2023 20:09

I'm not feeling well with a nasty cold. We had some builders in this morning (thought they were arriving at 8 so got up early to be ready, they actually arrived 10.30). I went out in the car to the shops at about 10 to get food and medical supplies for my day. DH went to work at 12.30 he'll be home at about midnight tonight. I watched some TV and made a dinner out of what we had in the house (colcannon with bacon and sausages). I hung a load of washing out on the airer and spoke to DS at Uni on the phone and had a nice WhatsApp chat with DD who is abroad. Played the piano for an hour.

MammaTo · 21/10/2023 20:23

Other half has been out to watch the football and not expected home for a while. Been the park for a walk and a coffee today with the baby. Done bath and bed with said baby and I’m enjoying strictly with my one glass of wine and cottage pie.

IceCreamSundaeCat · 21/10/2023 21:14

Well...ordered a Chinese and kicked myself for overspending. Cup of herbal tea

Bloke is out. Washing machine going. About to do glass recycling in half an hour. We have to do it in banks here.

Then, relax and watch a film.

Judellie · 21/10/2023 21:44

Hada leisurely morning and breakfast with dh then managed a tiny bit of decluttering in the sitting room; the teenagers surfaced after 11 and I went for a walk with them.
Meanwhile dh cooked some gammon, the house smelt lovely when we got back. DH and I had gammon with tinned potatoes and tinned carrots, don't know what the teenagers had.
DD and I then headed up to my mum's, did a little bit of shopping at Asda for her and sorted out and had tea with her (basa fillets, mashed potato, peas and sprouts).
DS went out on the metro, not sure what DH did
Got back and played dominoes, scrabble and ludo with the teenagers then DD and I watched an episode of NCIS.
DH away to the pub with his friend and I am running myself a bath. The teenagers have disappeared off to their rooms.
I need to find my Christmas choir music but I might leave that til tomorrow!

RabbitsRock · 21/10/2023 23:08

Silkiefloof love the sound of a brie & grape toastie!

DD (18) in bed, I'm catching up with Billions on TV. Debating having another glass of wine. Gas fire is on, dogs chilling, cats somewhere. My son (lives away) also in bed as weekend off and went to gym, did chores and went for a long 12,000 step walk up some hills in between football and rugby- no rain where he is!
Love the weekend with few plans and no pressure!

Catsmere · 21/10/2023 23:32

Sunday morning here, all that's happened is the usual Sunday stuff - getting dressed, making the bed, medicating the cats and me, our breakfasts, and cleaning their water fountain. Since then I've been lying on the bed with the elder ofurlord (she doesn't often get sole possession, younger ofurlord is usually there) browsing MN. In a minute I have to go and get my mother up and start her day. (She's 90 and I'm her carer.)

listsandbudgets · 21/10/2023 23:40

it's DDs 18th birthday party.. I've got 25 drunken 17/18/29 year old in my kitchen and hallway ......

listsandbudgets · 21/10/2023 23:40

19 not 29!!
