Those Instagram USA adoption stories I can’t stop looking at them

Well I’m not searching for them they keep coming up on my feed. I have questions.
The couples are so young and most of them don’t seem to be infertile as they have their own as well. Afew adopted as they thought they were infertile after trying for two years. The process seems to happen quicker there and no country is off limits. One beautiful family just seem to adopt Down’s syndrome babies from everywhere. How can they afford this? I thought the American healthcare system was to pot, would they pay up and how do the parents afford the insurance sometimes they have six children? And huge houses that are spick and span. And the parents are so beautiful. I know this is generalising but where do they get their money from? I can’t see how they can find time to both work. I’m just being nosy I know but they’ve put it out there for us all to see. I haven’t seen any similar posts from UK people.

There is definitely a religious aspect, there are basically cults like quiver full that emphasise having as many children as possible, and each one is precious which is why they like to adopt those with special needs. These are "private" adoptions so much less regulated than "mainstream" adoptions which are quite strict (the friends episode with Monica and Chandler I think shows a "real" adoption is a more difficult process).

This might be paranoid but I wonder if these social media posts are "plants" by the evangelical right to make it seem easy and fun to have all these kids, this shackling women who fell for it. Although why bother, abortion is already outlawed 🙄
Lastly, I used to follow a few blogs with huge right wing families, they basically starved and neglected the children.

An example, sad but unintentionally hilarious.

To answer your question about healthcare, they either do without (but more because they can't be bothered) or get it free with Medicaid/Medicare or the state equivalent

I’m not subscribing to that. Just the small write ups are nauseating. Idk if you were referring to this family in the previous post, but I cannot understand why you would adopt a child only to starve and / or neglect them?

Ah I didn't know you had subscribe? I just read it years ago for laughs and put it as a counterpoint to the glossy posts the OP is seeing.

Why indeed? Well I'm an atheist without any kids so I can't tell you.

I won't subscribe either.

To me it's not the issue of how expensive it is interstate wise to adopt a child blah blah blah.... it's more the issue that these halfwits are posting photos and video footage of these vulnerable children that they have adopted. It's wrong. It's not a game, this is real life and these children don't need their every waking moment filmed for clicks on social media to generate money for the family who have adopted them.

I believe in America they do have social workers doing a full inspection as well. I guess once it’s passed it’s easier to go on and adopt more.

I saw one the other day and the birth mom was full involved he was about 18 months and was playing happily with both his moms. And she was having a second one that they were also adopting. Opposite cultures as well I don’t think we are as “open” as that are we? I mean we might be Ive never known anyone. I’ve always wanted to foster though and it is a regret that I’ve never been able to give my job up to do that. Maybe I’m jealous 😀

It's called, 'open adoption' and is quite common these days.

I watched a programme ages ago about the 'failed' adoptions, people place adverts for families for the children they no longer want. One was for two chinese girls who had been with their adoptive family for 2 weeks.

There are SO many YouTube channels that seem lovely and wholesome at first watch but are actually effectively Christian PR and, as a previous poster mentioned, often Mormon. Many of these families also seem, when you dig into them, to be promoting subservient mothers, homeschooling to a Christian syllabus, modest dressing, guns are great etc.

It's got to the point that if a family channel focuses on adoption, large families, home schooling, homesteading or lives in Utah or Alaska I now assume it's in fact stealth religious right and avoid.
