I have tried by phone, by chat? I have spent about 11 hours now waiting to speak/chat with people and it is going nowhere

My contract ends today, I have paid until 21st and I want out

Do I need to make a complaint?

I would imagine at the weekends they are really busy. Try either early morning during the week or in the evening. You have to give them a month's cancellation notice as well.

KatyMac · 14/10/2023 12:54

I spent about 6 hours on Monday and Tuesday this week and it isnt cancelled

my contract ends today

I had to give a month's cancellation.

They told me they couldn't match Vodafone, so I went to call Vodafone to sign up for them, then when it was sorted went back to virgin to cancel. And lo and behold, today they could match voda, and for faster speed too!

So I text chatted Vodafone to cancel what I'd just signed up for, and they could provide yet still faster for the same price!

It's all such a con, why can't they just tell us how much it will cost so we can decide what to go for. I decided the hour it would take me calling virgin to cancel wasn't worth taking the Vodafone deal for, so insisted on cancelling. But it's all such a waste of time.

Dibdabble · 14/10/2023 12:55

You have to call them. And it’s 30 days notice regardless of when your contract ends. I had the same issue.

KatyMac · 14/10/2023 12:56

None of the 8 people I have chatted to or 5 people I spoke to mentioned a notice period now I am out of contract

I don't understand. You've spoken with people and it isn't cancelled? What did they say when you said you wanted to cancel?

dickdarstardlymuttley · 14/10/2023 13:12

I left BT to join virgin. I regret it. Virtual have the very worst customers service - and that's saying something. I cannot wait to leave them 😡

Cancel your dd and forget about it.

Cancel your dd and forget about it.

Don't do this they'll just send it to a debt collection agency and you'll be billed additional charges. You need to give 30 days notice. tell them you want it back dated to the first phone call you made to them.

KatyMac · 14/10/2023 13:35

So the 3rd October

& they will charge me at £79 as Im out of contract

I'm sure if I sign up to a new contract then cancel within 14 days they will still charge me

Virgin are diabolical. No customer service. No consistency.

IncomingTraffic · 14/10/2023 14:01

Do not under any circumstances try the kafkaesque process that is engaging with them via WhatsApp. Even if the phone service tries to divert you to it.

ssd · 14/10/2023 14:01

Hi @KatyMac , not seen you for ages, hope all is well. We have had problems with virgin too, its impossible to get anything sorted with them.

IncomingTraffic · 14/10/2023 14:03

to cancel I had to raise a complaint and attach a WhatsApp transcript which clearly shows that I had given them written notice that I wanted to cancel - and they’d pissed around and sent me in circles to avoid actioning that in any way.

Eventually they agreed that I had very clearly given them notice on X date. And refunded me.

Still took them ages to pick up their equipment.

Tdcp · 14/10/2023 14:13

It took me 3months to cancel with them after tons of calls to them, i didnt even have the phone anymore. In the end I put in a complaint with the complaints department and they cancelled it for me. They just keep you going round in circles when you need to cancel its ridiculous.

Yes. The complaints department is the only way to actually cancel.

They are very clearly intentionally making it near impossible for people to cancel. Ofcom should intervene.

KatyMac · 14/10/2023 15:31

Great idea about screen shotting the conversation on 3rd, I also screen shot the feedback they asked for when I said he didn't answer my query and I wasn't happy with his customer service.

Virgin customer service is diabolical. They ring me regularly to sell me shit. They ask me to confirm my iD. I refuse as they rang me and then they get arsey. Same circus everytime!!

Pandor · 14/10/2023 15:41

I think I cancelled mine via their online chat, was pretty quick. They kept contacting me to try to get me to change my mind though with different offers (I wasn’t interested).

PlipPlopChoo · 14/10/2023 15:43

Send an email or do the chat and make sure you take a screen-print for evidence.

gamerchick · 14/10/2023 15:48

RedHelenB · 14/10/2023 13:22

Cancel your dd and forget about it.

Why would anyone want to ding their credit score like that?

If you get no joy, they'll ring you soon trying to tie you into a new contract. I've been out of contract for ages.
