Do you get up at the same time at the weekend as during the week?

I only ask because my internal body clock woke me up about 20 minutes EARLIER this morning because (I think) it knew I hadn't set the alarm clock for 5.45am as usual and was making sure I got up "on time". So 5.20am this morning. Cheers for that.

I do usually get up at around the same time even at weekends and during holidays though. The idea of a lie-in doesn't appeal at all - I'd rather have a catnap later in the afternoon if I'm feeling really tired, or go to bed earlier.

So are you more the type to sleep longer when you don't need to get up for work/school/etc or rather get up the same time every day regardless of what you're doing?

I've never been able to sleep past about 5.30, regardless of the day.

Dogsitterwoes · 14/10/2023 06:42

I used to when I was younger but I just can't do it now, up at 5-6 dying for a wee and as that involves going downstairs, I'm awake. Sometimes I'll head back to bed later in the morning.

Plmoknijbuhv · 14/10/2023 06:44

I generally do (awake at 6 today), but enjoy there being no pressure. Often exercise, potter round doing jobs and watch some TV. I am the only one up early in my house though. Everyone else waking up about 8-9

Catsmere · 14/10/2023 06:48

My getting up time is between 7 and 8.30 depending on what I have to do - I need to get up early to use the communal laundry, for instance. The weekend is much the same as the week, because I don't go out to work.

PurBal · 14/10/2023 06:49

I have a toddler and a newborn. So yes 😆

YouveGotAFastCar · 14/10/2023 06:50

Yes because my toddler does. I wouldn't otherwise, but I've never napped in the day, so I get any extra sleep I need in the morning I guess.

It's not a until-11am sleep; though. Just 8am or something.

LoudSnoringDog · 14/10/2023 06:50

I’m always awake between 5-6

Sunflowersinthewind · 14/10/2023 06:54

My body woke me at 0630 this morning. Exactly the time my alarm would go off Monday to Friday. Sometimes I might sleep in to the dizzying heights of 0730 but I always go to bed reasonably early so after 8 hours sleep I am awake. Long gone are the days of being able to sleep for 10 hours or more

MartyFunkhouser · 14/10/2023 06:54

I get up earlier at the weekend because I go to 8am gym classes.

tanqueray10 · 14/10/2023 06:55

Yes I do because my children like to wake earlier at the weekend. Weekdays I'm dragging them out of bed 🤔

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/10/2023 06:55

Yes, up at 6 this morning even though my alarm was set for 6.15. We have a new puppy so I enjoyed a 15 minute quiet coffee in the kitchen before awakening the beast 😂 I have always woken before my alarm though, it’s like the worlds worst party trick.

Pleaseme · 14/10/2023 07:01

Yes I ping awake at 6:30 every day. I’m actually shattered as I went for anight in camper van yesterday and was hoping for a long lie

cryinglaughing · 14/10/2023 07:03

Half an hour later.
Usually up at 5:15, weekends are 5:45.
We have animals that need to be tended to, so a lie in never happens.
I'll have nana nap in the afternoon if tired, I already go to bed early enough at 9pm.

Hardbackwriter · 14/10/2023 07:03

Yes, though I don't actually get out of bed at the same time at the weekend.

I think the time of day you posted this will bias the answers you get!

maddiemookins16mum · 14/10/2023 07:07

My bladder wakes me pre 6am every day ☹️. My alarm normally goes off at 6am on week days, today I woke at 6.20am. I’ve been up drinking tea since then. I want to get to Aldi early so will leave in an hour. Tbf, I quite like some time to myself when everyone else is still asleep.

Hibambinos · 14/10/2023 07:10

I would love to sleep in but Moany cat wants his breakfast so I get up at 7. Otherwise he sits on my head and meows at me for ages….we are all cat slaves here, so a lie in is not an option

EfficientlyDecluttering · 14/10/2023 07:14

I tend to wake around the same time (6.15-6.30) but lie in bed reading longer at weekends. Sometimes get up, feed the cats, make a cuppa and come back to bed to read. I like being the first person up, on week days I exercise, do a bit of tidying, sort my packed lunch, hang washing out etc.

Polkadotpjs · 14/10/2023 07:16

I'm up now but would be fast asleep if working! No clue why.

MinnieMountain · 14/10/2023 07:19

I always wake up at the same time. But right now I’m in bed with my second coffee.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 14/10/2023 07:23

I wake up the same time but don’t rush out of bed at the weekends :)

Missflowers1981 · 14/10/2023 07:24

Yes my body clock wakes me up at 5 regardless of what time I went to bed Friday night. I can manage to fall back to sleep until 7am. Sundays are a bit better can sleep all the way through to 7:30am. I quite like early mornings though - it’s quite peaceful and I like that sense of being awake before lots of people even at 5am 😂

StarlightLady · 14/10/2023 07:25

I tend to wake around 5:30 most days, but on non-work days l tend to move at a slower pace and might go back to bed for an hour or so after coffee.

l tend not to be particularly good at sleeping through the night though.

SoIinvictus · 14/10/2023 07:25

Yes.
Obviously when I was younger I didn't, as weekends were for catching up on sleep.
Now I like to make the most of every second of weekend!

CoodleMoodle · 14/10/2023 07:26

My DC are up at 7:30 every morning, no matter what. In fact they usually wake up before that and read, but they come in to me at 7:30 on the dot, every day. So yes!

loudbatperson · 14/10/2023 07:26

Yes, I am like you I just wake up naturally. My alarm is set for 6 in the week but I make between 5:45 and 5:50 everyday. I won't normally have an alarm set for weekends, but I wake the same time.

I did see an article saying it is better for you to maintain the same sleep cycle everyday, and changing your pattern at the weekend leads to poorer sleep and messes with your circadian rhythms.
